  1. Just because it's not a good reason (logically) when viewed neutrally doesn't mean it's not a valid reason. Humans being humans and all.
  2. I'm going by memory here so that's suspect right from the start, but wasn't one of the reasons Nashville broke from the Brewers was the dip in talented prospects going through there at the time? Guys that could be billed as future pros to watch as they were up and coming? Plus my foggy memory wants to remember that the Brewers had been kind of skipping the AAA level with their promotions, dipping into AA for their call ups and the place where they were stashing their top talent. I think Nashville felt a little neglected with a roster full of AAAA type guys that really weren't buzz worthy. None of this is based on research so I could be way off.
  3. Per Malika Andrews twitter: Mike Budenholzer said Nikola Mirotic went through his first full practice since fracturing his finger today. He was able to scrimmage and if he continues to feel good tomorrow, Budenholzer said, he could be available for game 1 against the Pistons. That's good news, though it's likely he'll need several games to return to his normal contribution levels. As for Brogdon: Malcolm Brogdon, who has been out a minor plantar fascia tear, did some work on the Bucks' giant trampoline during practice. After most players had cleared the court, he did some shooting work with assistant coach Josh Longstaff and running drills with a jump rope. He ended his work by shooting some 3-pointers. Budenholzer said “sometime second round” is still the expectation for Brogdon’s return.
  4. I wasn't accusing you of dismissing Harden, I felt stoutdude04's post that I originally responded to was a little dismissive, him saying it wasn't hard. Otherwise I believe you and I agree.
  5. I mean, I understand the point stoutdude04 was making but it's not really fair to dismiss Harden's performance based only on the perceived flaw of his methods of accomplishment. Add in he's not just scoring 30 a game, he's scoring 36+ a game. There's a full 8 ppg buffer between him and the next highest scorer. He's also rebounding, assisting and getting steals at respectable rates. What he's doing isn't easy and there are plenty of teams that have tried very hard to stop him from doing it. That's the main point I was responding to, not so much his overall case for MVP. Of course I want Giannis to win MVP and I believe Giannis has the best case for winning MVP, but if Harden ends up the winner it's not going to be an unbelievable tragedy. He's deserving. The MVP race is coming down to two very deserving candidates, we all have the one we prefer to win but in the end both have had great seasons. I think Giannis will win it, a lot of what I'm hearing/seeing in the media is pretty much tipping that way in the last week or so. Just things like Shaq saying Giannis is better than he was at that age, which is a huge statement not that I think everybody takes Shaq's words as gospel.
  6. Yes, or there would be more guys doing it. Currently there is 1 guy doing it.
  7. I tend to agree, but their perspective is still valuable as long as you keep in mind that they have blind spots when it comes to Rodgers. This article is a bombshell, no doubt. I think the other grain of salt is, this is a condensed version of the negative aspects of these people over the course of many years. It's not like it was all bad, 24/7. As with anything there are good days and bad days and just... days. There were definitely positives that happened along the way, the focus of this was what went wrong. Really good read and I hope the new direction and new coaching perspective can get the team back on course.
  8. They might simply like the clever phonetic element of it to go along with a general baseball reference.
  9. Why does nobody ever mention signing these guys will cost a team a draft pick? Yes, the driving factor is their salary expectations but the added cost of a draft pick is a contributor as well. I don't believe teams want to hand out a rich deal AND lose a draft pick, especially since there are only 2 or 3 teams even seriously interested in signing them in the first place. Maybe these guys lower their prices enough to get signed before the June draft, but once the draft comes and goes I don't expect them to remain unemployed very long at all. On the flip side, maybe K & K think more teams will dip in once draft pick compensation goes away and that's what they're holding out for.
  10. I wonder what country Bud Norris thinks Bryce Harper came from with that bat flip he did a few days ago.
  11. He could have a contract in the next 30 seconds, it would probably just not be one he'd like. Agents do what their clients tell them to. Let's not lose sight of that. Some players have the stomach to wait teams out, some don't. Kimbrel is holding out for more years/money because that's what Kimbrel wants to do.
  12. If you're in the market for a new alarm clock, I bought this one a few years ago and I love it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IEYHMPK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 On the pricey side for an alarm clock but the features are worth it. Time sets itself, auto adjusts for daylight savings, projects time onto a wall or ceiling so you don't have to roll over to see the time, 10 minute snooze, gradual wake alarm starts slow/quiet and increases volume gradually, 3 brightness settings plus you can even turn the display off completely. And it has a USB port so you can use it to charge your phone. Those are just the features I personally care about, there's others. My only complaint is the time runs a little fast, it's about 5 minutes fast after 3 years. It doesn't bother me too much because I can factor that in and I'd rather it was fast than slow.
  13. And a 25% chunk of Christian Yelich courtesy of Isan Diaz.
  14. So I was trying to figure out this guy's connection and how he's getting a scoop where nobody else is. Found this bio on a web search: Nilson Pepén has been in Boston since 1998. I can't off hand think of any Boston Red Sox connections with our front office, but his bio also says he's passionate about "everything Dominican." Searched for Brewers front office members, see this on a Brewers front office directory on mlb.com: Special Advisor - Baseball Operations/Player Development Carlos Villanueva Villanueva is Dominican. That's all I got, but it's not beyond reason to think that they've crossed paths before even though Carlos never played for Boston. So maybe that's the connection.
  15. 12 years is a long time, organizational changes could happen and/or they could figure things out and make a run. If the Brewers can do it so can they.
  16. I made this counter-point on another board last week: The Bucks 2001 playoff run came after not winning a playoff series since 1989. They took the 76ers to 7 games in the ECF and game 7 came right down to the wire. So yeah, the talking heads that keep saying they "haven't won in the playoffs" are just being ridiculously lazy. I get frustrated by losses like this too but like some have said some nights they're going to struggle to score, that's just the NBA. They're really not getting blown out by anyone, their worst loss was by 20 pts to the Magic in February and, including that game, the Bucks have only lost by double digits 4 times all season. The other 3 were to the Blazers and Pacers by 15 and to Golden State by 10. That's pretty incredible. I'm hoping Bud is keeping some stuff under wraps until it's needed in the playoffs.
  17. They're not going to be allowed to fake an injury or illness. I thought I had seen a report about such players requiring a stint on the DL. Edit: I guess I should say IL not DL.
  18. I really liked the moves they made last year too. It was a clear departure from what TT had been doing and none of it seemed like they were spending dangerous amounts of money. This year feels a little more serious, more aggressive. I don't expect it will be this way every year but I like the feel of the last two FA periods, and this one is far from over though the big splashes most likely are.
  19. Just thinking these moves over, this has to be a near historical FA signing day (I know not officially until tomorrow) in Packers history. We've had some big signings in the past, and bigger names, but this many all at once? And in the prime of their careers for the most part? Nothing really comes to mind. Fun day so far, doesn't guarantee anything, but it's nice to be a part of for once.
  20. 10/300=30per 13/330=~25.4per. That's 4.6mil a year less. I gave 4.5mil a modest 6.5% return if invested over 10 years. What is 45mil base at the 10year mark becomes $64,872,836. On that modest return he'd only need 10mil? over the next 3years signed to earn 330mil. But you know, he didn't go to College so maybe he has zero sense when it comes to investing. Pay a guy to do it for him. 10y/$300M plus 3y/$0 = 13y/$300M I'll take the 13y/$330M over that every single time. No investment tricks necessary. It is strange to assume he doesn't already have a well established investment strategy in place though. He's been in professional baseball since 2010.
  21. Yeah not having MLB network for 3 months with Sling isn't going to be great, but once the promo price runs out I can rejoin YTTV and still have the summer thru playoffs to watch MLB coverage. If I miss some early season stuff I think I can survive it. If I go with Sling Blue that's $15 (no ESPN either, gulp, but I wouldn't watch it except for live sports anyway and I don't think I'll miss anything), CBS All Access for $6 more if I want to watch March Madness, might not really need to I would only watch Badgers/Marquette related games. So March $21, April & May $15 each = $51 + tax vs. YTTV $120 + tax. Kind of a no brainer for me I think.
  22. Sling has a new deal, $15 per month for 3 months for either the Orange package or Blue package, or $25 per month for both. https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/sling-tv-is-on-sale-for-15-a-month-limited-time-offer/ Might be worth switching for 3 months, no MLB Network but savings is probably worth it. The other caveat for Sling is they don't offer a local CBS station, need antenna for it. With March Madness upon us. CBS All Access is only $6 per month so that's an option I guess, still saving money.
  23. I've had YouTube TV the last couple months and it's been good for me. No extra charges for DVR service (with no DVR limitations) and it's almost complete as far as sports channel offerings, the only missing one being NFL Network which I don't mind so much because I would only watch that channel for NFL draft coverage. Looks like Hulu is missing both NFL Network and MLB Network. I love MLB Network, YouTube TV has it and that was a big factor in choosing YouTube TV as well.
  24. It wouldn't shock me in the slightest if the Brewers preferred Moose over Gonzalez. Even if the contracts were equal. Clearly they preferred a 1 year commitment but I don't think Moose's option is an automatic decline for them next season.
