  1. I like the mixup but this isn't going to happen. No way will they ever bat Yelich that low and I don't think Counsell will throw in a huge shakeup like this in a do or die game.
  2. I am going to give my thoughts on this now so I am not one of those people 9 innings later trying to act like I knew all along we should have done differently if Lauer sucks. A) I think starting Morton today is getting too cute and over thinking it. I get the logic, you now have Morton and then Freid the last two games. However, they are in the drivers seat. Just try to win today and if not let Morton/Freid steamroll us in Game 5 if you need them both. That being said this move is a clear sign they hate their chances in a Game 5 and this decision only makes their chances in Game 5 worse if they fail to win today. Props to them for gunning for it in Game 4. B) I support starting Lauer. Dude has been incredible lately and starting Burnes on short rest just seems ill-advised when we would still have to win another game anyway. Brewers hitters have Morton's stuff in recent memory...the Braves can't say the same about Lauer. Let's hope they take a different approach against Morton this time around. Jump on that fastball and don't let him kill you with the curve.
  3. He really is the key to their success. In Brewers wins: .327/.391/.548/.939 In Brewers losses: .203/.263/.320/.583 Would be interested to see what is the teams stat line in wins vs loses? How much of this is actually Wong vs just in general, when you win you likely hit much better than in games you lose? Team in Wins: .265/.353/.463/.816 Team in Losses: .186/.262/.298/.560
  4. He really is the key to their success. In Brewers wins: .327/.391/.548/.939 In Brewers losses: .203/.263/.320/.583 Well, I guess this goes for a lot of guys... Adames in Wins: .306/.393/.589/.982 Adames in Losses: .186/.235/.295/.530 Yelich in Wins: .306/.422/.500/.922 Yelich in Losses: .159/.265/.175/.444
  5. I like that one! Very outside the box! Mine is Yelich goes yard. Mine is Wong. 3 x 4, leadoff homer. 2 run 2B, BB, 3 RBI (the only 3 runs we score) He really is the key to their success. In Brewers wins: .327/.391/.548/.939 In Brewers losses: .203/.263/.320/.583
  6. Agree. This is the best I've felt about a game since game 1. IF they win today, game 5 is going to be a war. Clearly the results haven't been there but yesterday they finally started to hit the ball hard
  7. And the Braves are slightly worse against lefties. Just don't let Houser pitch to Joc Pederson...
  8. I saw Counsell said yesterday that he wouldn't use Burnes today. Do you think that is a bluff? Would hate to not get him the opportunity to pitch again even if it is on short rest.
  9. Yelich 1st Half vs 2nd Half Tracker (games through 8/31) ABs: 187 / 129 AVG: .241 / .281 OBP: .399 / .333 SLG: .369 / .436 OPS: .768 / .769 ISO: .128 / .155 BB%: 19.7 / 7.7 K%: 27.7 / 20.9 2B: 7 / 9 HR: 5 / 3 Last 7 games: .346/.419/.500/.919 Last 15 games: .362/.391/.586/.977 Power is still not quite there but this is great to see. The difference in BB% between the first and second half seems to indicate he is being more aggressive. I will gladly take an aggressive Yelich over a high OBP Yelich. Good things, good things...
  10. Since this thread is about Yelich and Hiura and its been a while since Hiura was discussed...just checked in on him and his first action at AAA was August 17th. He is 3/14 since then with 3 singles, 3 BBs and 3 Ks. I wonder if they will be taking a new approach with him during this stint.
  11. With Lauer as the 6th starter, or trade bait for a position player..?? I have to imagine we will need a six man rotation again next year To avoid having another substantial jump in innings pitched for everyone. People need to remember that all of our starters took some lumps in their first year in the rotation and Ashby is no sure thing to dominate next year You also have Ethan Small doing good things in AAA so I think he may have a role with the big league club next year as well. Thought maybe we would see him up this year but he hasn't pitched since early July.
  12. Yelich 1st Half vs 2nd Half Tracker (games through 8/22) ABs: 187 / 88 AVG: .241 / .261 OBP: .399 / .309 SLG: .369 / .420 OPS: .768 / .729 ISO: .128 / .159 BB%: 19.7 / 6.4 K%: 27.7 / 23.4 2B: 7 / 5 HR: 5 / 3 Last 7 games: .379/.379/.690/1.069 Last 15 games: .296/.333/.463/.796 Great to see some vintage Yelich come through this weekend!
  13. Tonight's #Brewers lineup: 2B Wong SS Adames 1B Escobar LF Yelich RF García CF Cain 3B Urías C Piña P Woodruff
  14. Looking at this it doesn't seem that bad, but the pitches he missed were at crucial times in the game...and they were BAD misses.
  15. Sounds like Peralta's injury isn't serious. Phew.
  16. I don't think we see Curtiss pitch until 2023
  17. I doubt it. He is still getting on base at an extremely high clip - although, not as much in the 2nd half compared to the first (.297 vs .399) - so he still has value even if he is not hitting.
  18. Yelich 1st Half vs 2nd Half Tracker (games through 8/17) ABs: 187 / 68 AVG: .241 / .235 OBP: .399 / .297 SLG: .369 / .353 OPS: .768 / .650 ISO: .128 / .118 BB%: 19.7 / 8.1 K%: 27.7 / 27.0 2B: 7 / 5 HR: 5 / 1 Last 7 games: .310/.355/.414 He has been getting his hits lately but that power is still evading him. Even his doubles have been ground balls down the line. His single last night was vintage Yelich - hard hit line drive to the opposite field - so hoping his is starting to find it.
  19. And he plays in Milwaukee and the other two play in Philly and LA. They can have the Cy Young award. We'll take a World Series.
  20. I occasionally lurk other fan forums, I see an awful lot of "well their offense isn't that good". I feel like they saw how bad it was the first 1.5 months of the season and don't realize how different the current team is. Tellez is batting 7th, he probably should be a bit higher given he's been our best hitter since the all star break but the top 7 players in the lineup are quality hitters. Even Cain on the downswing of his career has a 754 OPS since the all star break...a pretty darn good 8 hole hitter. To top it off, we have guys with a 930 OPS and 870 OPS since the all star break on the bench. Since June 26th (43 games) the Brewers are batting .269 (4th in MLB) with a major league leading 251 runs and 5.84 runs per game (2nd in MLB)
  21. Yelich with two doubles yesterday* *misplayed ball in outfield and excuse me check swing against the shift But we will take what we can get!
  22. Now that the deadline has passed what grade would you give Stearns for this year's acquisitions? I think this is the full list of players acquired (trades only) who have contributed at the MLB level this year: Weigel (4.0 IP, 4.50 ERA, 2.00 WHIP) Adames (266 ABs, .935 OPS, 16 HRs, 48 RBI) Strickland (17.1 IP, 1.56 ERA, .808 WHIP) Gustave (7.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.714 WHIP) Tellez (71 ABs, .980 OPS, 5 HRs, 18 RBI) Escobar (52 ABs, 1.000 OPS, 2 HR, 7 RBI) Norris (5.2 IP, 11.12 ERA, 1.941 WHIP) Curtiss (Out for season - 4.1 IP, 12.46 ERA, 2.538 WHIP) I would give this a solid A. Acquiring a franchise SS performing at an MVP level alone makes this a success. Add in Tellez, Escobar and Strickland (and Gustave to a lesser degree) and you have four or five guys who have totally changed the look of this team. Offense was desperately needed to pair with our elite pitching staff and we have gotten more than anyone could have hoped for with Adames, Tellez and Escobar. In addition, Strickland has given them another great arm to add to the bullpen. Yes, Norris and Curtis have been huge busts but we barely gave up anything to acquire them. The only disappointment for me is we were clearly looking to upgrade our bullpen at the deadline and missed out on some more elite names like Kimbrel so it stings just a bit more.
