  1. I too would like to see a source backing that up, as I am also skeptical of that claim. The Packers as one of the few publicly-available financial disclosing sports franchises have consistently noted that their absurd level of merchandise sales is one of the major contributors to their operating income each year. Granted, the Brewers aren't the Packers when it comes to fanbase overall, but I have a hard time believing that merchandizing accounts for 'so little' of their revenue. I've had access to several teams financial information. Obviously it's confidential so I can't divulge any detailed information. However, outside of in-park merchandise sales, all jersey sales, etc. just get shared equally by all teams. In-park merchandising doesn't even come close to 1% of a team's revenues in general. Speaking of team financials, and I know this is getting a bit off topic, but were terms of their new deal with Bally every announced? I thought they had a deal in place earlier this year...
  2. Here are his ZSwing% (swings at pitches inside the strike zone) since 2018: 2018: 64.6% 2019: 71.2% 2020: 60.1% 2021: 63.9% and his ZContact% (contact at pitches inside the strike zone) 2018: 88.1% 2019: 87.0% 2020: 81.9% 2021: 81.9% Guessing this can be attributed to seeing less fastballs than in 2018/2019
  3. I definitely think there is a difference between a homegrown superstar vs one that was acquired. Fans are more invested in their journey but their play on the field will determine everything. I do agree with you that Braun was much more likeable and marketable. Yelich seems like a great dude but I always feel uncomfortable watching him in commercial spots and off the field events (ie: Bucks games). He seems to be pretty introverted and doesn't have that infectious personality that Braun had or that Adames has. That's not a knock on Yelich but it definitely plays into his brand. But it starts and ends with his play on the field. Everything else is just window dressing. All I know is that every Wisconsin star is playing second fiddle to David Bahktiari. Now that's a dude I wanna have a beer with. But I digress...
  4. Yelich 1st Half vs 2nd Half Tracker (games through 8/10) ABs: 187 / 43 AVG: .241 / .163 OBP: .399 / .234 SLG: .369 / .279 OPS: .768 / .513 ISO: .128 / .116 BB%: 19.7 / 8.5 K%: 27.7 / 27.6 2B: 7 / 2 HR: 5 / 1 Still holding out hope for that 2018 second half Yelich to show up. Between his back injuries, All-Star game and COVID, he hasn't had consistent ABs to find a groove. Hoping we start seeing this trend back in the right direction!
  5. Bellinger is trending upwards though. Small sample but their last 7 games: Yeli: .048/.130/.048 Beli: .320/.370/.640
  6. He could use some time in the minors to figure it out but that won't happen. He is just totally lost up there. The last two seasons he has only put up 532 plate appearances so if there is any silver lining its that this is really just equivalent to one bad year.
  7. Has there been any reason given as to why we have not seen Luke Barker in the majors? Given the state of our bullpen over the last couple weeks its crazy that he hasn't been given a shot, instead relying on guys like John Axford, Sal Ramano, Angel Perdomo, etc. He has consistently put up great numbers in the minors and rarely walks guys. What am I missing?
  8. Just a guess but I'm thinking Topa up and Curtiss to the IL. I'm kinda surprised they have subjected us to the Sal Romano era, let alone John Axford, Part Deux, rather than simply bring Topa back up. How much of a rehab assignment does a guy like that need? Definitely excited to see Topa up here. Although, if Topa takes Curtiss's spot that means Perdomo is still on the roster. That guy just doesn't have it. Can someone explain to me why we have never seen Luke Barker get a shot? He has consistently put up great numbers and rarely walks guys. What am I missing?
  9. I know its a Burnes start but didn't know where else to put this. This is damn impressive: Jeremy Frank @MLBRandomStats Most consecutive starts with more strikeouts than hits allowed: 25 Randy Johnson (1999-2000) 21 Freddy Peralta (active) 20 Pedro Martinez (2001) @Brewers
  10. I’d say what is happening to Yelich is unprecedented but the exact same thing is happening to Bellinger. He has somehow been worse than Yelich.
  11. Curtiss has right elbow discomfort. Never a good sign…
  12. I mean, he gets on base just fine. Might as well try it.
  13. I don't think the heavy stuff is going to come down for quite a while
  14. For real. The less innings this AAAA bullpen needs to cover the better.
  15. Definitely. He is 5.7 years younger than the average position player in AAA.
  16. I think it's pretty obvious the Brewers legitimately like him. Actions speak loudly. Also, look at the quotes by Counsell. He's high on him. As for his track to Milwaukee, I expect him to marinate at AAA for awhile. Beyond that, he could potentially come up initially in a utility role to get acclimated to at bats in the big show. Beyond that, Wong is on a 2/3 year deal that times up well for Turang to take over 2b. Or, possibly, Adames goes to third and Turang goes to SS. There are scenarios and these things always work out. If someone produces (in any job), there will be opportunities provided. Hell, with all the Covid cases popping up on this team he might get an opportunity this year.
  17. Turang still with the club and he just got promoted to AAA today. Excited to see what he can do there but hard to see a path to the majors for him.
  18. I know its probably not gameday thread material but it happened on gameday...Brice Turang was promoted to AAA. Moving quickly through the system excited to see what he can do in AAA!
  19. Love seeing it but I always find myself imagining how great this offense would be with a 2018/2019 version of Yelich
  20. Interesting. Maybe some of the players who had no-trade clauses and only wanted to go to the coast teams?
