  1. was at the game today and it was great (so were the free tix that my wife got from work - 13th row behind home plate). i have to say that with the exception of the ABs by Clark (who looked completely lost at the plate today) and Overbay (who was willing to swing at junk pitches), the team did a decent job of trying to work the count and generally have solid ABs. they definately put some good swings on the ball (Weeks especially here, geez that fella swings a quick bat). i was very impressed with Miller's approach at the plate today and floored with Jenkins performance - he didn't even seem tempted to go after the inside-junk pitches that Maddux was throwing him early in the game. i sure hope that continues. Hardy just about killed Maddux with his rbi single - that one flew so close to his (Maddux's) right ear that i'm sure he's going to hear that ball whizzing by for a couple weeks. also, Lee's second home run was enormous, absolutely one of the biggest blasts i've ever seen at Wrigley. just after he hit it you knew it was out of the park as all of the folks in the left-center field bleachers all turned their back on the playing field to watch it go out. oh yeh, watching Corey Patterson have no idea what he's doing in the batter's box and get booed by the Cub fans is priceless.
  2. wood coming out of the game? could it be that he was actually on a pitch count? nice. wood exists and O goes yard on rusch. love it.
  3. my buddies and i usually go with Billy "the straw that stirs the drink" Hall. it gets the job done edit: why is the name Jeff Galooley so familiar? rings a bell in regards to tabloid news or some such?
  4. that's the way to do it billy. nice AB, nice result.
  5. it was a collision between O and Hall on an infield pop up that moeller should have handled. everyone's ok though.
  6. prince had already PH in the bottom of the 7th i think.
  7. living in chicago, i left a bar because i was tired of listening to cub fans. thinking that i'd at least be comforted by uecker and powell, i was certainly dismayed at the obvious cub fan presence at the keg. it gets really old having to share "home field advantage" with an out-of-town team. oh yeh, getpaddled, i was really confused by your last post. edit: am i to assume that your outburst is in response to the fox sports folks interviewing cubbies following the game? sorry, i'm at a loss on this with no televised brewers coverage.
  8. one run. that's all we need. one stinkin' run to tie this sucker up. common crew, let's do it!!!
  9. i'm going to do everything i can to make the drive up for the afternoon game on thursday and influence a few brewer-favorable chants (and maybe get in a few good arguments with beligerant scrub fans).
  10. i know it's great that the cub fans come and spend loads of money in milwaukee, but wow is it annoying to tune into the game and hear "let's go cubbies" chants coming over the speakers. ugh.
  11. if the brewers are in a position to draft that high in three years i'm going to be a very disappointed.
  12. the regal one with his first hit. sounded like a great double down the line.
  13. YES!!! Clark goes ya-ya!!! Common boys let's get us some more of those runs!!!
  14. i can't believe that not only did we have our #5 starter pitch more than 5 innings, but pitch a complete game shutout. nice. the bats are waking up, tomorrow we're going to rake our way out to tampa.
  15. blech. we are the nicest offensive team in baseball - giving scrub pitchers like casey fossum the gift of the six pitch inning. ack.
  16. geez these baserunning errors get frustrating. is it mandatory that we have at least one each game?
  17. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! holy cow, a freakin' hit with RISP! i can't believe it!
  18. actually, it seems to me that overbay has had a "decent" evening. certainly a lot better than a couple other fellas in the lineup can claim.
  19. nice quick half inning by cappy, now let's score some runs!!!
  20. arhghghgh. how hard is it for moeller to not let a ball get passed him? geez, it costs us run! that kinda crap play is just driving me nuts. losing because you have a lack of talent is one thing, losing because you don't execute fundamental aspects of the game is another. maybe there's a connection to talent there. i don't know. frustration setting in. rambling. the whole "mental errors" thing gets old in a hurry.
  21. any of you fellas know why escobar hasn't been in the lineup for WV the last few games?
  22. 'lil ben is working it so far today. 3K in 2 IP. let's hope he's getting on that roll that we've all been waiting for. with the exception of calvin murray, it doesn't sound as though any of the iowa cubs have put a good swing on a ball yet today.
  23. other than the quirky plays in the top of the 1st it seems as though lil' ben is on the attack today and is mixing up his pitchers early (as i write this he gives up a 1B). i'm really pulling for him to re-earn a call-up as i'm very desirous to see some of these pitching prospects pan out. edit: we scored the runs on a two out single by orie. fielder and hart scored (both reached base via BB).
