  1. Some sort of Fielder hype machine is going to come to life sooner or later. Kurkijan had an article on espn.com in which he also referred to Fielder as a good defender. Let the over-valuing begin.
  2. That I'm about ready to quit patronizing a favorite store of mine because an employee there routinely insists on splitting hairs in a conversation to make sure I know that he knows more about the subject at hand than I do. That really, really doesn't make me want to spend my money there dude. I might be even more bugged that this is eating at me. Bah!!!
  3. I'm reallty enjoying Sprecher's Winter Brew this year. In the past I thought it was pretty ho-hum, but for some reason, it's just really hitting the spot this winter. Was out for pizza a few nights back and the bar had Futhermore's Fallen Apple on tap for $2/pint. Thought it was a great change of pace. Wasn't sweet or over-appley at all. Pretty smooth, crisp, and a little tart. At the very least it got me hoping that Thermorefer makes a return appearance soon. I thought that was wonderfully out of the box.
  4. Are you kegging, logan3825? I'm hoping I can make that jump in the next few months.
  5. I've been having the main page problem for at least a month.
  6. That was the best discovery to come of my last stint living in PA. What a great beer. Capital use to make their "Special Pilsner" which was a fine beer, but I'm not sure if they still produce it or not.
  7. Beyond compare: The Link Report. Between that and the minor league forum, I'm not sure you could ask for a better organizational education. Subsequently, when you talk about that same stuff with your friends who don't read BF but listen to all the sports talk radio, you will literally make their heads explode. I'll also add many thanks to the posters who do such a great job understanding roster management as well as contract status stuff. I can barely get it all in my head.
  8. I'd like to see Rogers too, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with Rivas. Although, who knows? With Narveson's innings being "limited" maybe we'll see more than one starter brought up.
  9. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...nearing_end_of_rope.html Who would you like to see get a chance? (edit: changed link to use the permalink and added quote --1992)
  10. Ben Harper - Fight for your Mind
  11. I may have been able to start a thread for this, but chose not to. The best fiction quote I've read this summer: "...baseball is nothing but a great slow contraption for getting you to pay attention to the cadence of a summer day". Michael Chabon. Summerland, pg. 64.
  12. Merklinger continues to pitch well. While I'll enjoy the rest of this season, I can't wait to see the staff at Huntsville next year.
  13. Well, considering the news, I just want to toss this out there: could Big Ben be the guy who eventually replaces Uecker? Ben has a great sense of humor, was good with stories, loves the game of baseball, etc. I'm fairly certain that this would be the longest of long shots, but is fun to think about.
  14. That since my iPhone is synched at work for calendar purposes I can't sync it at home for music purposes.
  15. Listening to the game, there were several instances where it sounded like Rogers thought he had strike three called on a batter only to have it called a ball. It also seemed like those moments were on breaking pitches.
  16. He was an all-star RF because of his bat, not his glove. His OF defense is not irreplaceable. That being said, I don't presume to know what his long-term defensive future is. Sounds like Gamel is going to get exposure at 1B too so it's not as if Corey to 1B is a foregone conclusion. My preference will be for whatever gives us the best defense. So long as Corey stays committed to working hard and performs well, I'm happy to have him on the team in whatever capacity helps us eventually win a championship http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. I think I'm ok with this. Taking into account the newer info about the Brewers working with Lawrie and Gamel at different positions, I'd like to think that between these three guys we'll have RF, 1B, and 3B taken care of well. It also makes me think they're working on an extension with Weeks. ...but not to take this off course already...congrats to Corey, I sure hope you keep it up for the duration of your contract.
  18. And a really nice start from Heckathorn as well. Seems like A+ suits him just fine so far. Seeing good pitching lines just doesn't get old.
  19. Erik Cordier is from Sturgeon Bay and lives in DePere, WI. Has anyone payed attention to Rogers' antics during games this year? The two games I have seen him pitch in, coaches have had to come out to the mound early just to settle his emotions down. Also, he has displayed a nasty mouth to two HP umpires ... when he was batting. Has he always been a hothead or is this something new with him? This is the first I've ever read of a hotheaded Rogers. I do like his line on the evening though. Only 2BB through 7IP. I'd love that to become the norm for Mark.
  20. If Prince gets into the Hall of Fame it will almost certainly not be as a Brewer. This is more hope than expectation as I don't expect Prince to ascend to those ranks.
  21. I don't think there's anything surprising in this article. Fielder has a right to free agency and I don't think we can be shocked or offended at his decision to seek it. I thought his responses to questions were about as diplomatic as he could be. This is part of the game and has been for a while now. I'd love to have Prince in a Brewers uni for years to come, but since we won't, I won't dwell on it. I'll simply hope that when the time comes for his departure, we get a fair return for him and that if someday he becomes a Hall of Famer he'll go in with a Brewers cap. Prince was part of a wave of talent that made us a relevant organization again and for my part, I'm grateful.
  22. You know what, Beerambassador, I'm totally with you. A session beer revival would be most welcome. This is why the last time I brewed I made a basic English ale. Good enough flavor and low enough alcohol where you can make an evening of it and be relatively guilt free.
