I would argue Gustave is solely on this roster as an absolute emergency arm OR an arm to eat some innings if we are getting shellacked. Sanchez is not on the NLDS roster. If that is the case then you can't pull one of your aces in the fourth inning of a 0-0 game then right??

If Burnes tells you he can't pitch he can't pitch you have to go with what you have and that's why Counsell is on the spot to make the right calls. He has been brutal today.

Why is Gustave on the roster if he can't get a righty out and give you a couple of innings?? Where is Sanchez?? I don't understand what these guys are doing.

The mismanagement of this series by Counsell is not going to get the attention it deserves but he has been bad.

You're really reaching here. How exactly? You're up 2-0 with a guy throwing well, not great, but well, with 1 out, and you advance the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Your best hitter ends up batting with the bases loaded. Or going with Strickland? I don't get it. There was not some egregiously bad managerial call in this inning. You could argue if he was throwing well but they hadn't scored thanks in part to Duvall baserunnig.

For a team that was supposed to win with it's pitching we are seeing a ton of big innings pitched by guys who are just ok. How the heck are you supposed to get to Hader from here without even Suter? Guess the season is up to Gustave
