  1. Beside Wong who isn't healthy?? It still hasn't led to a good offense. Taylor But your point is a good one especially when Counsell decides his 25 year old shortstop needs days off and decides to give him one the same day Narvaez isn't playing. Funny how things have changed. Yount started all 162 games in his age 32 season. Were players tougher 30+ years ago? Good question. I don't count Taylor because Counsell never played the guy once Yelich came back. No way he plays more than Bradley.
  2. Beside Wong who isn't healthy?? It still hasn't led to a good offense.
  3. The lineup the brewers put on the field today is an affront to the paying customers. If I paid good money to watch Peterson Robertson Lopes Pina etc and then have the game come down to Bradley I may request a refund. I keep hearing about all the injuries. Who is injured who is any good besides Wong?? The fact is this team is going no where fast unless Stearns can turn water into wine. I don't see it and no longer trust him anyway. Counsell appears to be worn down as well. It's just no fun watching a bad hitting team who has no speed runs the bases poorly can't situational hit and has little power. I think that covers it.
  4. Counsell may want to rearrange the rotation a bit. You have two lefties back to back and who throw the same slop. Then you go a whole series without having one of your studs when you throw 6 starters. It doesn't make sense the way it's lined up right now. Anderson is good for 4 innings tops. Back to back with Lauer that's a mess.
  5. Yardley and Milner are both out there trying to trick people with these side arm deliveries. Throw in the raptor and his gimick where are the hard throwing relief pitchers who can get some outs and keep you in a game?? Stearns has a ton of work to do and precious little to trade unless someone thinks they can fix Keston.
  6. Aguilar would look nice in a platoon with Vogelbach for sure. Wonder what it would cost. Lefties are going to be an issue for this team if they can't find another righty bat.
  7. Sure but not every team can afford to have them. This team does not have that luxury. The Rays don't because they know they can't afford them. They would have probably traded Yelich for a haul and kept building.
  8. I mean there's a ton of garbage at the back end of the roster, but the top 3 starters are about as good as any in baseball, the back end of the pen is pretty good and Yelich, Narvaez, Adames and a couple others are pretty legit. I don't doubt that CC is doing a fine job but it's not like they're totally void of talent. They are not void of talent but it is surprising given the payroll they have Tim Lopes Hoby Milner Yardley etc on this team. Its not like you expect 25 all stars but man this team is really about 15 deep. The last ten guys are really a drag. The Cain contract is crippling. So is Bradley. Imagine the quality depth you could buy for 30 million dollars.
  9. I just don't understand how a major league team like the brewers can't afford 13 major league caliber pitchers at all times. They don't even have anyone of note injured. Yardley Linblom etc should not be here. Yardley pitching to any lefty seems like asking for trouble. Missed opportunity here tonight.
  10. Win 10 out of 12 with both losses being to a guy nobody has ever heard of would be unfortunate.
  11. This is the result of how much Hader and Williams pitched over the weekend. They’d probably like to give Boxberger a day off too, so they’re going to try to get through this game with the pitching C team. Srickland has closer experience. It would be nice to have another guy to be in the late game mix.
  12. Winker and Castellanos are a luxury. Having two guys who are going to get on base hit with power and extend innings. Where would we be if we just had one guy like that??
  13. Ugh. Offense is letting this guy settle in also. Need a spark. We need to get to that pen.
  14. This game is there for the winning if Lauer doesn't have it this inning get him out of there.
  15. I get the want to go to the 6 man rotation but you don't have 6 starting pitchers. You are in a 100 game season right now. Not sure this is going to work unless you are going to give Ashby a shot. Lauer is not that guy.
  16. The Yelich situation is very bad news for this team. Given where they are without him doing anything it has covered up how bad he has been. The plain truth is given the payroll mess that having Cain and Bradley around for another year they need Yelich even more than first thought. There is no escape from Alcatraz if he doesn't get back to form. I am excited to see how this season plays out but it will be a shame to let these arms get away in the future because they are stuck paying a singles hitter 25 million a year.
  17. Seeing Taylor benched for Bradley makes me less interested in this game honestly. I need Counsell to play the best players every night in order to try to win the game at hand. To date there is no reason to see Bradley start again if there are three healthy outfielders.
  18. The optimist in me keeps telling myself "he's only 24, he can turn it around", but with each at-bat, I am coming to this realization. Which sucks. It sucks terribly. I don't know anymore if it is Hiura's approach, fundamentals, coaching (or lack thereof) or something else, but all I know is that after witnessing the last two months, and last year's two-month season, it appears that the Hiura we saw in 2019 was a complete mirage. A hitter that can't hit a belt-high 92 mph fastball has no business playing professional baseball. Hiura is going to have to look deep to figure out if the player we are seeing is who he is, or if there is something more there that is being hidden right now. Agreed. It is a strange situation given that he basically has been sold as a bat first prospect since being drafted. If anything it was his defense that gave you pause but you figured he would always hit. The approach is an issue but unlike say Orlando Arcia who can't stay away from pitches breaking away from him Hiura can't hit fastballs right down the middle. That is a totally different ballgame and one that is a career killing one if you ask me.
  19. This is so true. It has been overshadowed a bit but make no mistake this is the major issue for the brewers moving forward. Two years removed from injury the guy is a shell.
  20. Let's be clear where we are with Hiura. He is off to one of the worst starts through the month of May of anyone in mlb history. It is historic how bad he has been when you factor in the k%.Chris Davis of the orioles comes to mind and did he suddenly snap out of it and remember how to hit?? The likelihood of Hiura when you combine this year and last year suddenly becoming a quality mlb regular is way below 50%. I would give him a 25% chance of just being average again. It is too late imo. It just isn't going to happen at least not in Milwaukee.
