  1. I wonder what we could have done for pitching with the 18 million they gave to Grandal but the guy has earned his money to this point no doubt.
  2. You have got to be kidding me. I've seen enough. You cannot keep running this guy out there at this rate. My goodness.
  3. Burnes needs to be mentored by a guy like Suter. Guy has nothing for stuff but can survive by spotting and changing speeds. Burnes needs a little help with both.
  4. The braves had issues with the last gm doing dirty deals in Latin America. Not saying this is.These deal are generally taking Latin American ballplayers who have very little money and giving them a lifeline to help their family situation at a discounted price for them. Obviously extensions are a risk reward for the player and the club but this is madness in my opinion. This kid got taken advantage of by a team that had the cards and the know how to do it. A 22 yr old all star for 7 million a year for the next 9 yrs. Ask Keston if he would do this deal today and he laughs in the Brewers face and he hasn't even made it to the show much less become an all star. Incredible.

  6. Yep ... regardless of all the "bullpenning" noise, the point remains that you put your top arms in the starting rotation. These guys are great talents, and are going to provide much more positives than negatives this year. It's important to remember that, while the team made some short-term moves to go after a World Series this year, the core is going to be around for at least 3-4 more years. The growing pains with the young starters now will likely pay off down the road. I’d rather have gone for the WS than rip apart the strengths of the team that was one win away from the WS last year. Why can’t they develop in the bullpen? Also, if the plan was to develop these guys, we should have kept Pina and Kratz as our catchers. No reason to bring Grandal in for one year if this isn’t “the year”. I agree. He's been awesome but makes no sense if this is developmental year.
  7. The question is what happens if Nelson comes back and is Nelson again. Does this push one of the young guys back to the pen? I have zero faith in Jeffress being able to bounce back. I am not sure who's pitching is more in disarray us or the Cubs. Cards have potential to run away and hide just based on pitching alone.
  8. This team needs a solid vet starter. I love the young guys too but this year is not going to end well with the ip and down nature of young pitchers. It doesn't make sense to have a veteran win now lineup and pitching that can't get through 5 innings. Not to mention a thin bullpen. I don't get what's the plan. Try to win 10-8 every night? Something has to be done. This division is there to be won but you need reinforcements.
  9. The fact that a guy with zero home runs has hit 3 in a game in a half is mindnumbing. In the old days the dude would at least get pitched inside a bit. I'm guessing it won't happen.
  10. Jesus Aguilar is an issue. Combine this start with his second half and the bloom is off the rose. Move him down and Grandal up.
  11. Thames needs a shot against a righty tomorrow. Dude is an atomic bomb waiting to happen at the plate. Both of these teams are terrible in the pen. Cards gave it up today. Kimbrel price going up. Whoever gets him wins it.
  12. Fields has to get a call soon. Just can't keep running Williams out there. Nelson still not ready is a killer. Burnes back to pen would be awesome.
  13. Williams has been terrible. I don't know what they are going to do about this pen but the answer are not in the current version. Outside of Hader nobody scares anyone a bit.
