  1. Maybe he believes in Peralta, Burnes, a healthy Nelson, possibly Woodruff and doesn’t want to mortgage the future of the Brewers because they may or may not sneak into a wild card spot. So you're saying a team with 4 playoff appearances in 50 years is playing the long game? Two years in a row? Ok. If you are playing the long game you don't sign Cain this year. Santana was fine in the corner. The moves as a whole just don't add up.
  2. It is weird that Stearns seems to have no trouble pulling the trigger on offense. Yelich Cain Moose Shaw Schoop Thames. Meanwhile he seems like he thinks pitching is just not a big priority. Even in the draft all three first round picks are bats. I don't understand how a seemingly smart guy is lost on how to build a winner.
  3. Counsell had to rush Hader into the game but no excuses he didn't get it done. Counsell has done a bad job in my opinion since May but the guy is basically out of options. Stearns has left the guy out to dry.
  4. Counsell can't use Hader and Jeffress every night. The othwr guys have to get the job done sometimes. At the end of the day they just are not good enough. Simple as that. They are bout done.
  5. Anytime a pitcher goes from the AL to the NL you might as bet on improved results. Happens every season. Guzsman also loving life in the NL. Brewers blew it.
  6. Giving Albers two years will go on the Stearns hall of Fame plaque as well. Look at Albers' contract. Then look at his numbers last year. When he was signed, it was lauded as a great move by pretty much everyone here. Relivers like Albers are a dime a dozen. Especially out of shape ones on the wrong side of 30. Knebel couldn't even have two good years in a row and he has great stuff. Just because some people thought it was a good idea I for one did not. The year before wasn't he terrible??
  7. I sure hope so. His ERA for the year is now a paltry 7.24!! Giving Albers two years will go on the Stearns hall of Fame plaque as well.
  8. The crazy thing is Shaw is killing them at second base but can't move him in order to play the second basemen they acquired because then they would have to move the third basemen they acquired when they already had one. Good moves.
  9. Scooter just makes the madness of picking up Schoop even more maddening if that is even possible.
  10. And lead off base hit. Counsell never learns it seems.
  11. The autopsy of this season will basically come down to the deals that were made and the deals that were not. Very plain what this team's needs were heading into the deadline. Happ, Fires, Lynn, Hammels, Gausman, Wheeler etc were out there for the taking and all have pitched great. Instead we traded for another third basemen and a second basemen who at this point doesn't play full time. Junior Guerra is starting huge games down the stretch and getting bombed. The real question is why did it go down like this and why did last season not appear to make positive change for this season. Very disappointing.
  12. That could do wonders for this team 4 runs in the first innings then nothing for 14 innings then 3 in the 15th. Ridiculous.
  13. Counsell let Cervelli beat him with no bench players left for the Pirates. Joe Maddon he is not.
