  1. Dude has literally pitched 11 innings this year, y'all need to ease up. He's not Eric Gagne just yet lol.
  2. Last season a lot of us were hoping that Stearns was going into make a splash at the deadline, only for the Brewers to start falling out of first place and avoid making a huge push for some of the top names. This year is a completely different story being that the Brewers have accepted that the rebuild is over and we're obviously ready to compete now. Assuming we're still in a tight race for the division title come the deadline (I know it's early), what names do you think we could realistically afford that might be available from bottom tier teams looking to rebuild?
  3. I'm not sure if any of you followed the whole Luke Heimlich story this week, but he's statistically speaking a first-round talent that went undrafted out of Oregon State today for the second straight year. He has one more year remaining at OSU and it looks like that'll be his only option for now. My question, do you think somebody is going to sign him at some point, or is he effectively barred from ever playing professional baseball (at least in the United States). This is a unique case. A lot of NFL players will go undrafted for things they did off the field, only to sign later as an undrafted free agent. I don't remember anyone ever having something like this on their record and his caliber going into the draft, so it seems like uncharted territory.
  4. Well thanks to the steroid/PED era he would always have company with Rafael Palmeiro and Pete Rose as well as long as he is alive. I said not make the hall of fame 'case', meaning not be seriously considered.
  5. How about bringing back Jeremy Jeffress?
  6. He's accomplished this by being remarkably consistent (on a year-to-year basis) and avoiding any real injury. He's always been an above-average starter and really racked up some big stats pretty quietly. I thought Adrian Beltre snuck up on me when I realized he had a shot at 3,000, but Markakis is on a whole new level. It might be unlikely, but if he can keep averaging his standard at-bats for another 5 years till he's 39...we might be talking about him hitting 3k in 2022-2023.
  7. I was completely dumbfounded yesterday when I learned that Nick Markakis has 2,131 hits at just 34 years old. He's silently creeping closer and closer to the 3,000 hit mark and I had no clue. He's never even been an All Star before. My question -- if Nick Markakis somehow reaches the 3,000 milestone, would that change the way HOF voters view the feat in the future? He'd almost certainly be the only player to ever pass the mark and NOT make the Hall of Fame case. He still has a long way to go, but you can't deny he has a legitimate shot at 3k with the way he's playing at this his age right now.
  8. So basically what I've learned this season is that we can only beat bad teams.
  9. "I'm not arguing against Villar. I'm just providing information about what Sogard has added to the team." "Seriously what does Sogard add to this team?" Not really that random considering the conversation just a few posts prior was talking about 2B. My mistake for not quoting what I was responding to, but it wasn't out of the blue.
  10. No kidding. Logan Schafer, Kyle Heckathorn and Nick Bucci were some of our other top organizational prospects from that era. Top organizational prospect doesn't equal top prospect if the system stinks. Brewers upper management at the time considered him to be a pretty solid prospect. That was never the point of my post. The bottom line is, second base is pretty weak right now and I wish we'd have kept him. That's my opinion, it isn't going to change. You can have yours. Back to the game.
  11. I am almost positive Scooter was never a top 100 prospect. I didn't say Top 100 Prospect, I said highly-regarded prospect. He was ranked #6 in our organization in 2012. That's highly-regarded. Not sure why everyone is so down on Gennett, he broke out last year and the Brewers would've been better served having kept him on board. That's all I'm saying. Again, there are a lot of prospects that don't reach the majors until age 25.
  12. Gennett was 25 when he left Milwaukee. He was still developing, so yes, I am putting a lot of emphasis on last season. It's one thing if a 30+ year old player has a sudden breakout season, but a highly regarded prospect breaking out at age 25? A lot of top prospects don't even reach the majors until 25.
  13. Eric Sogard has a higher slugging percentage than Scooter does this year. Honestly, I don't give season statistics any real credence till a month into the season.
  14. Because of his sparkling .691 OPS for the Reds this year so far? Scooter had a.875 OPS last year. You're really taking a 10 game sample size to make that determination?
  15. It's safe to say that waiving Scooter Gennett was a mistake (understatement), second base looking rough this year.
  16. So, I know it's super early, but should we be even slightly worried about the Pirates this year?
  17. Holy cow I didn't realize how damn long Tim Dillard had been with us. 17 years...
  18. I just recently finished a show called Turn: Washington's Spies and was probably one of the more suspenseful/thrilling shows I've seen in a long time. I'd recommend it to anyone that's interested in history and action.
  19. On a smaller scale than Ohtani, do y'all remember playing against Micah Owings? The man could hit and was often used as a pinch hitter with the Reds and a few other teams. He batted .283/.310 with 9 homers in 202 career at bats while being a solid back-end starter. Just jogged my memory.
  20. Keon Broxton went 4-for-4 yesterday with a home run. Hoping he can keep his trade value up and maybe be used as a chip later on.
  21. Can someone fill me in on what happened with Knebel / lie to me and tell me it's nothing major, just a precaution. Can't watch the games in Texas.
