  1. I actually disagree - based on pitching matchups this is probably the Cubs' best chance for a W, and the Brewers best chance for a L for their remaining 3 games. I'll be happy if the Brewers are still 1 game back, and enthusiastic if they pick up a game. In fact if the Brewers find themselves tied with the Cubs after tonight, I'd put their chances at winning the division outright at higher than 50% even with only 2 games remaining. Also, the odds stuff is kind of dumb, captain obvious stuff at this point in the season. Of course it's about 1/3 with only 3 games left for the team trailing by 1 game. Not worried about probability percentages any more when it's literally two teams competing for a division within a game of each other with 3 games left. That's not really how it works. The formulas are a lot more complicated than "there are 3 games left so the odds are 1/3." 538 is the more generous of the two major forecasters and Fangraphs has us at less than 1/4 with I think is probably closer to correct. I do agree if end tonight tied, we become the favorite and I think the odds will reflect that. Can we play the games already? So many scenarios ... this is driving me nuts. This team has proven many of us wrong this year, even when things seemed to fall apart time and time again they bounced back. And now... here we are... playing good ball at THE BEST possible time for once.
  2. Yea they started doing that to avoid "leaders in the clubhouse" I think . Makes sense. Makes every game important instead of a later game being useless!
  3. We basically have that every day. Their results will be known before our games are done barring rain. Great. And the more i think about it, the more nerve wracking it is... lol. This is crazy. I love it.
  4. The best part of today, is we have a game that there are two teams with even more pressure on them than we have playing before we even take the field.
  5. I agree. I feel we either will earn a division title (or play for it Monday) or we will cost ourselves it. I don't see how the Cubs can/will sweep the Cardinals. That leaves so much in play for us to "take care of our house".
  6. That Flaherty start needs to matter for the Cards, or there is no way they will pass the Rockies/and/or the Dodgers ... thats why we are in such a nice position to sit back and see what happens!
  7. Plus the Cardinals and Cubs are all day games, so while they could technically be eliminated by Saturday night, they won't know it until their game is long over. Being down one game, they know that they need to win to stay alive. This is shaping up t be a great weekend of baseball Exactly! Couldn't ask for a more hungry, with better starters, opponent to go in and try and take down the Cubs. @Wrigley just did a weather look up: WNW winds 10-15 today with chance of rain later in afternoon. Saturday sounds cool with NE winds (blowing in) Sunday nice weather chance of a shower and variable winds 5-10 WNW winds means left to right there I think? None the less , no severe blowing out conditions so that is good for the STL starters. Then again the Cards sure seem to hit well at Wrigley..... AHHH THE EXCITEMENT!
  8. why would you even bring that in here! um, because we discuss things here, you know, on a discussion board. I am hoping I am 100% wrong, not really even predicting that will happen, just listing it as a possibility. Thanks for your input though. I hope to god you are 100% wrong man! That means, very likely, we at the very least are playing for the division on Monday! If Yelich has a big series here too, he can over shadow Baez even more since he's the "hot hand". It'll be some fun to watch. And how is it the Rockies always seem to finish at home with teams that are out of it.... every year... that belongs in the playoff discussion but just dawned on me how lucky they have been in recent memory. lol.
  9. What I like most, and is underrated and understated here... is that the Cardinals likely need to WIN OUT to make the playoffs. If they can get the fist game today, watch out... we may be clinching Sunday. Just saying. Hold on to your hats, this is fun. Worst case we host a WC game Tuesday. I like our chances in that at home.
  10. Yea seems like it’s a wide zone. Come on guys pretend it’s July VS the Brewers tonight !
  11. Bases loaded one out in the first for the buccos
  12. I can see this as a very real possibility. Catching some of the highlights from gameday from last nights game, even the Pirates announcers seemed to be pulling for the Brewers to overtake the Cubs.... as much as can be however... lol. And i bet the Pirates would take great pride in damaging a team's division chances. Tonight should be fun to watch. Especially since we aren't playing, for one day, the pressure is not on us!
  13. That’s freaking awesome
  14. So your friend is a moron. Baseball-wise at a minimum. I’ve seen it all over my feed tonight , they are trolling Brewers fans. Even after I’m sure many of us tipped our caps when they won it all. They just seem to be genuinely sad people. And scared. I love being where we are right now. It’s exciting to be the hot team at the end for once.
  15. If the cubs lose tonight.... idk what I’m going to do .... I will officially be rendered useless the rest of this work week. May need to just burn some personal days lol Mind you, I’m down in Tennessee too..... haha
  16. Had a cub fan friend of mine. Yes I know an oxymoron... post on FB that looks like Yelich walked 5 times today, there’s a real MVP (sarcastically) , followed it up with Baéz would have gotten 2 homers instead , walks are for wusses. Baéz would have struck out 3 or 4 times on Yelich’s at bats chasing pitches that were close ... proof is in the pudding!
