  1. I remember the 92 team, went to a couple games on that last homestand. They were hot but yea, just too far behind. This team feels like that team, but much closer.... I got a feeling!!! Looking at the stats for that team is pretty funny. Amazing how much the game has changed in 25 years. Jamie Navarro, who was excellent, had 100 strikeouts. In 246 innings. The team struck out 793 batters in 1457 innings. The team hit 82 HR (!) and stole 256 bases(!). Pat Listach was the spark plug... what an impact he had.... and the steals, yes, i recall that now... and as a young fan - it was really exciting! Cal Eldred's run that year was amazing too.
  2. This is what I've been saying. We win, we will be fine. Sure is nice to be hot this time of year instead of backing in or fading, like we have so many times before! Is it game time yet?

  4. Dear God.... Do I have to choose? Sabathia put the team on his back.... Yelich is having a monster half though...
  5. Yep. If we win out. We at the very least will have a playoff for the division. No way the Cubs win out at this point. Talk about nearly controlling your own destiny... this is as close to that as it can be at this point!!! AND a number 1 seed.
  6. are you losing control? - Can't lose what you never had! Its awesome to see a player like this, and be a Brewer... Like many of you, I started going to games when I was 6 as I can recall , so that is 1989..... needless to say - this is really fun.
  7. Humor me.... If they lost the rest of their games... is there even a way they could get kicked from the postseason all together? Or would we need the Cardinals to win tonight vs us for that to happen? Trying to run down scenarios and it depends on LA and COL too... The Cubs have clinched at least a tiebreaker game in the WC. They are at 91 wins, so if they lose out they will finish with.... 91 wins! The Cardinals and Rockies are both at 87 wins, Cards have 4 games left, Rockies have 5. So, if the Cubs lose out, the worst they could do is tie the Cardinals for WC#2. Same as us, we at least shall have a play in for WC 2. That's good news. I'd just love to see the Cubs not even host a WC game.... It would bring joy to the deepest parts of my heart and soul! haha.

  9. The homer off MadBum was worth the trade in and of itself, imho. As stated before, he is taking longer to adjust but I think he has some special moments in him .... much more so than Thames would at this point.
  10. When is the moment you realized... we might have us a special player here? I mean this year..... For me, it's when he took the lefty in Minnesota, the opposite way for a home run at Target Field to give us the lead in the Saturday game i think it was...... I got that "feeling" and since then he's been amazing.
  11. Also, can we cuss if we clinch tonight? I dont think exclamation points and hash tags and dots will be able to express my joy.
  12. THIS. We wanted the last games to matter for the Cardinals. And they do, they always have, but they do even more now. The Cardinals would love to drag the Cubs down into a one game wild card playoff to move on..... IS IT GAME TIME YET?! I feel like a kid in the back seat on the way to a family vacation. Yeah, I can't take this, and I have ton of stuff to do, but I am just at an absolute 0 productivity level. Same. It's sad. It's only Wednesday.....
  13. After "big" losses this year, this team has bounced back almost angry.... and pounded the ball. I don't see that changing. Losing to Chicago then coming home and playing STL or COL or LA, we would spank them, and head right back to Chicago with a head of steam.

  15. Don't think they would not LOVE to hurt the Cubs chances, even if they are out. As much as we don't like the Cubs or Cardinals, the Cardinals and Cubs have hated each other for A LOT longer!
  16. I agree, Yelich at this point, should win it. You have to remember, that the Cubs are the CUBS. They should have at least one player that garners attention and gets the stats. The fact Yelich is doing what he is doing. The numbers... the big hits... he is sure more valuable to this team than any other NL player I can think of. It helps he was traded for this year too, I believe. That adds to the narrative even more, showing that (besides Cain also of course) he was the difference maker from last year.... Baez is great and all, but, they are the Cubs, they were supposed to run away with the Central. I don't think we even NEED to win the division for Yelich to be the MVP at this point. This is with my Brewers goggles on AND off... its just what he has done has been what you crave from an MVP going down the stretch.
  17. I think the Brewers are going to go 3-1 over the next four while the Cubs go 3-2 in their last five. Both teams will have identical 94-68 records, and have a Game 163 at Wrigley for the division championship on Monday, October 2nd. I agree this seems like it's going to happen. I know some people have said they'd rather not play a game 163 for the division and just take their chances in the WC game, but I think I'd rather have 2 shots to get into the NLDS than just one. ABSOLUTELY. 2 is better than 1, any time, any where! Figure the offense will be good at least one of the two, so we will be ok, right?
  18. The Cardinals will be playing for their playoff lives this weekend no matter what. If we win tonight or not. We have gotten ourselves to a point where we will have a shot at the division no matter what happens tonight. So why not win? lol. If it were that easy... Chacin would really help if he dealt, and if we got another 5 runs or so tonight. Really seems like the Cardinals are running out of gas... their fans as well... You could hear a pin drop many times last night, and that is very un-STL like. Cubs look out of gas too. We sure do seem rested and firing on all cylinders. This sets us up for an amazing final 5 days of the season. Strap in and hang on.... take your blood pressure meds, drink plenty of water, and do your breathing exercises, its going to be crazy.
  19. I LOVED him stopping in with BA and Rock, that - growing up with Ueck on the radio through the 80's-90's - was a real treat. I'd love to see him stop in more often, as a third man he can just tell his crazy stories and not take away from the game, as been some complaints on here by some folks (yes, he has lost a "step" calling a game). But my gosh he is a baseball icon and still had me in stitches talking about Mike Shannon and being heavily medicated, and who had issues filling out scorecards. Last night was a special night.
  20. I think the same, Brewers 3-1, Cubs 3-2. Take our chances in a one game vs the Cubs. I think we win in that case... and send the Cubs off to play Colorado or LA or STL, and lose that. One of the greatest collapses we have seen playoff % wise. And oh so sweet to all of us to watch. I'll bring the marshmellows !
  21. There’s blood in the water .......
  22. Then Chris Archer made the Cubs pancakes RIP Charlie Murphy Thank you for getting that!
  23. I believe you are correct sir
