  1. I fixed the statement for you... Also what would the harm be in letting Villar lead off today, much better lead off candidate than Perez, no?
  2. I get giving rest to the regulars and all, but, Perez leading off? Bandy again - gag me.... Chalk this up as a house money game. Wish we went for the throat more in these series.
  3. The media giants of the west and east cost, as well as baseball's "chosen" fanbase would have a total fit!
  4. Central W L PCT GB Milwaukee 30 19 .612 - St. Louis 26 20 .565 2.5 Chi Cubs 25 20 .556 3.0 Pittsburgh 26 21 .553 3.0 Cincinnati 17 32 .347 13.0 This just looks nice. If the playoffs started today, the NL would be represented by: Atlanta, Milwaukee, Colorado, Philadelphia, and St. Louis.... If that held serve it would have to be one of the most upside down (from preseason projections/ predictions) that I've ever seen.
  5. Holy COW! Put the Brewers in the AL Central, they clinch July 1st. lol. But seriously they could win 100 in that division!
  6. Brewers will win 89 games, and host the wild card game vs. St. Louis and FINALLY get their number and send them home for the winter.
  7. Couldn't agree more. Pina is a huge part of this team's success. Same as last year. There is no reason that this pitching staff should be as effective as it is based solely on talent. Pina and Johnson deserve a lot of credit. Agreed , I have no problem with Pina. I do, however have a problem with Bandy as he's OFFENSIVE with the bat, and OFFENSIVE behind the plate. haha. I think we have AAA options far better but that's my opinion. I mean Arizona has 3 catchers I'd rather have than Bandy... lol.
  8. Chatwood's one "decent" game... he walked 3 still... oh , that was vs. Milwaukee .... the only game he didnt give up a run as well... SMH I will say, I was happy they signed him as long and for as much as they did, however, because he always has walked a lot of guys, and seemed like a fringe player at best. Like Brewer years Jeff Suppan with more walks even... However in his one start vs us, they may have tipped their hand that he was signed to be our kryptonite....
  9. can we bring up some of the other calls earlier in the game and see where they were tracked? that is what i'm most surprised about, he was giving even more off the edges earlier.
  10. Fun fact: Chicago or what we know as Chicago today was almost part of Wisconsin. I am glad it is not. Although it's effect is wide reaching, unfortunately.
  11. http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/news/angel-hernandez-is-a-bad-umpire-diamondbacks-brewers-balls-and-strikes-counsell-ejected/1dm3egg1rtn3x12p0o5xcaxmox Its nice to know it's not just the homer goggles ! It was bad at the end of the game. I've never seen a guy change his strike zone so much from 1-7 to 8 and 9.
  12. The Brewers of old would have lot their cool and lost it 3-1. Fantastic job bouncing off the mat , and it was nice to hear Bill actually not just say the company line for once and get on the bad calls. Nice to hear.
  13. Even when Hader doesn’t have it , the upgraded D helps him out.
  14. Exactly. It appears that about 1990 is where it moved from multiple innings to specific inning assignments. Its crazy looking back to see the change and it was abrupt!
  15. What's old is new... I blame Ned Yost. Regardless of situation he would not put a guy in unless it was "his inning". So 7th inning guy could not pitch in 6th, 8th inning guy in 7th, and God forbid we bring in the closer in the 8th. Roenicke was just as bad. I just shuddered at the mention of those two names.... I do agree, how silly it was with all those "innings" assigned. Really lost a lot of games that way....
  16. Thats funny to me. A guy who signed for 3/$38 million hitting .220 on a loaded offensive club ,commenting on whats bad for baseball...
  17. I think this is a good idea for a team like Tampa Bay that is well aware they aren't going anywhere this year. For us, however, the way CC is going about stretching out our star relievers , is the correct way to use a bullpen. I wonder why it hasn't caught on much sooner overall. You had an Andrew Miller, and he was "revolutionary". However Rollie Fingers and fellas on that level back in the 80's routinely worked 2-3 innings for saves. If I'm not mistaken Dennis Eckersley is the one who started to really shorten those appearances into more so the 9th inning. I really think as has been stated.... if you have reliever A who pitches 75 innings this year in say, 70 appearances and reliever B who pitches 100 innings in 55 appearances, reliever B will have less chance of injury even though he put in more innings. The whole warm up process puts wear and tear on the body as it is. So if he's doing that less, i think you can get more millage out of guys going forward. Just makes sense! Not sure why we ever got away from that original way bullpens were used.
  18. I’m surprised at how well Chase settled down today , sure looked like it may be a rough one, that was a pleasant surprise . Also encouraged by how good Albers stuff looked today also. Would have loved him in the 8th yesterday , just saying lol.
