    How long before an NFL team gives Cignetti a blank check? This guy clearly has a football IQ on a level beyond most. If I had an opening right now, I'd be making the call

    A year ago most of you wouldn't have been able to pick Collins out of a lineup. Now he's indispensable despite being barely rosterable by the time the playoffs came along and Baddoo has no chance of being useful. If our own fans can't recognize the red flags on players like Collins and Mears, and what this organization can unlock from a pitcher with the stuff of a Zerpa, then I guess it just solidifies my hope that the Brewers can continue to compete at the highest level despite having to operate on the fringes

    You can clearly do far worse than Ortiz if he's your 9th best everyday player out of 9 and imagine if he just hits a little better next year. That's not praise or acceptance, that's realistic hope that he can rebound and be more useful if they don't uncover a better option. Something that would be harder than many realize given his defensive value. So the easiest solution would be for him to hit a little better

    Maybe they feel like Weeks has the dugout and clubhouse part of the job down and now want him to see things from the front office side like Counsell did before he became manager. We just don't know enough to say anything definitive either way

    Yeah he was throwing it around 95-96 last night, but it was just enough difference from his fastball to be effective. Most importantly he threw enough of them for strikes. Same with the curve which he was throwing at 86-87.

    When you get your parking QR code in the Ballpark App you can register your plate right then and there. It's as simple as typing in your plate and pressing submit. I entered my plate for last night's game, yesterday morning. I could have entered the plate as early as on Thursday when the QRs were generated.

    I just want to get ahead of any potential Ashby slender here. He was overworked down the stretch and overused in the Cubs series. He'll be needed and a valuable piece against the Dodgers. Probably could use an extra day of rest though, so not appearing in game 1 would be a blessing. But don't anyone confuse a few bad pitches from an overworked, overexposed guy as not being worthy of a roster spot. His final contribution to a now won NLCS was striking out Kyle Tucker.

    The most amazing thing about last night to me was how after Mis gave up that HR on a 101 mph fastball, the entire pitching staff shifted towards breaking pitches...AND PULLED IT OFF. Mis started throwing curves, sliders, and many fewer fastballs. (Final count was 23 sliders, 14 curveballs, and just 17 fastballs) Patrick did the same with his rarely used slurve. And then Abner recorded six outs with no strikeouts and very few heaters. The Cubs feasted on the fastball and three very young and relatively inexperienced pitchers won without relying as heavily on their most comfortable pitch, didn't walk a ton of batters, and held the Cubs scoreless the rest of the way. Amazing guts and execution in one of the most important games in franchise history.     On no timeline does a well run, small market MLB organization in this economic system sign a free agent to pave the way to be able to trade a prospect. That's just not how it works. They may sign a stop gap free agent when they don't have an in-house replacement ready to go, but they're not trading away a young player they're high on just for the right to hand out a big contract to someone else. And then to call it a no-brainer, no less. Taking note of how the Brewers operate would be a great first step at avoiding these proposals that make no sense

    Fedde over Misiorowski would be gross from a pure stuff standpoint. I wouldn't want to rely heavily on either, but I'd like having Mis in my back pocket should I need a strikeout. It's unfortunate that it's even a consideration but I get why it is. Beyond that I give it to Mis from the standpoint of wanting to express confidence in a much more important piece of the organization's future

    Just here to say that CBS has been money on this all year. I mentioned it once before here a month or two back. I'd look ahead sometimes 2 weeks on their site and they'd have Patrick on there well ahead of any announcement or his recall from AAA. I'd lay money on Gasser starting Sunday after seeing this Not just with Patrick either. They had both Logan Henderson and Tobias Myers as scheduled starters well in advance when everyone was still guessing too

    They will in time. Right now he's the only one who the defense is gonna have to respect deep. I'm excited to see what they do with Golden later in the year when Watson is around to be the deep guy.

    Being down on Golden is particularly odd when he had his man beat twice for long TDs but was overthrown on one and underthrown on the other

    Golden is playing a role right now. Remember how Watson didn't come away from a game with many targets but would have an impact because defenses had to respect him deep? And how that opened up everything underneath? That's the role Golden is playing right now. It's a starting point, not a finishing point. The good news is that Golden will be soooo much more than that in time. Whereas it was what Watson might always be limited to. Which is fine because it's an important role in a LaFleur offense. Golden might have his role expanded as early as next week with Reed out. Patience

    I'm fully aware of his numbers. I simply want the best collection of pitching talent out there come playoff time and I'd have Yoho (and others who probably won't make the cut) in there over him. 5 losses credited to Anderson don't help his case btw if we're going to make this a stat thing

    I really feel like Yoho with his adjustment on the rubber is a better major league pitcher than Grant Anderson. Hope the Brewers don't regret this one

    They traded Clark because Dallas insisted on him. The Packers weren't looking to move on from Clark and that was obvious by the structure of the contract he had for this year. Buuuut when you can get Micah Parsons if you're willing to include Clark, you do it every day and twice on Sunday and accept the sunk cost

    I still insist the author is trolling us. Have felt that way for years dating back to the prior username he went by. Not everyone who wants to write for the site has to be given the green light. Sorry, but it's my honest opinion that articles like this do the site a disservice.

    They've already talked about limiting Misiorowski and then the line drive off his leg helped slow his inning accumulation down. Woodruff they're trying to avoid pitching on 4 days rest. Priester has been much more shaky lately. And Peralta has been running up high pitch counts by the 5th inning. Just about everybody but Quintana sees a direct benefit from the extra rest.

    I'd certainly still call an extra starter a need. There is some clear fatigue and innings jump setting in for some of these guys. I could be wrong but I get the sense the Brewers want to give these guys 5 days between starts more often than not for awhile yet.

    Then they'd have to come up with another injury in order to re-summon Patrick, no? Perhaps the plan is to get around 4 innings out of Gasser and pair him with either Ashby or Myers come Friday?
