  1. Are you comparing Davies to Bauer? I hope not. Davies is ok. Bauer is a Verlander type horse that is able to throw more pitches and pitch deeper into games than any pitcher in baseball, that’s ready to explode this year and next. Of course it’s a comparison. What the hell else would it be? It shows you the production Davies has had during his age 22-26 years versus the guy you’re slobbering over while trying to dump Davies for whatever you can get. Again, “stuff” doesn’t always correlate to being a great pitcher. Labeling guys aces doesn’t mean they actually are. It’d be great if you understood that. You probably wouldn’t get so much crap. Ok, I’ve stated my opinion, and you yours.

  3. Easily a strong 3. Have you seen both of his FBs? His CB? His Slider? He’s arguably a potential #2. So yeah, a strong 3. You know who is better? Zach Davies. We’ll just see moving forward. Once Houser settles in as a starting pitcher again, which could take a few starts, the Houser doubters will be pleasantly surprised.

  5. Ok so maybe a little light on the prospects back from the Twins, so I also get Blaine Enlow, so I now get the 2 prospects @100 plus 2 more @ 125-175. Do we have a deal? I just don’t care about Bauer’s stats, he was injured earlier in the year, and I think big things are in store for him the next 2 playoffs, and I want him to team up with Woody and Houser, making for a strong 1 2 3 then i get an opener for Peralta and sweep the 4 game series.
  6. What’s better for this team, an Ace for 2 playoffs, and 2 stud pitchers plus a stud outfielder? or Hader for 4 yrs and Burnes and Ray and Supek. I want the guaranteed Ace for two years, with prospects that have more upside. 1.) I would rather have an ace for 2 playoffs + Hader for 5 playoffs, so I'd at least nix the Hader deal if I was going to do any of this at all 2.) With one "ace-like" year last year surrounded by meh-to-goodish years the rest of his career, what makes Bauer a "guaranteed ace"? 3.) If you want to replenish the farm system, why trade away significant roster pieces now when you could wait til after the season (or after next season, or after the season after next season, or...) Bauer’s the ultimate Ace RIGHT NOW, he’s a horse, no one pitches deeper, right at the edge of his prime these next 2 playoffs, and with Woodruff, another horse, who’s improving more than any pitcher in baseball by the start, wow, what 1-2. I’m selling as high as I possibly can with Hader is the Why. The prospects I get back are tremendous, 2 of which can plug holes NEXT YEAR and 2021. The back end of my pen I can still fill with dominant pitchers.
  7. If this is the kind of player movement you are expecting/hoping for this season, there is no other way to say it. You're going to be disappointed. Because it just isn't going to happen. It might with DiPoto at the helm. Ha

I want the guaranteed Ace for two years, with prospects that have more upside. What does one deal have to do with the other? I don't think a team has ever made all-in moves and rebuild moves in the same season. A few of these moves make sense individually, but in combination it is kinda nuts. And not in a good way. I Trade high on Hader, but that weakens my pen, so get my pen maybe not as strong but strong enough with Smith and Kennedy. Then I get my Ace for the 2 playoffs. Burnes is my biggest loss, but the 2 top pitching prospects cancel that out. I lose Ray and Lutz, but Larnach is a better prospect than either of them plus I still have Grisham. If I can’t get a good enough prospect for Davies, then I don’t make that trade. I lose 2 years of Hader for 2 playoffs with an Ace and Kennedy. And I still have prospect depth to keep winning thru the Yelich window.

  10. Here’s my way too early deadline moves: 1.) Trade Josh Hader to the Twins. Hader > Trevor Larnach of, Jordan Balazovic RHP, Jhoan Duran RHP 2.) Trade for Trevor Bauer from the Tribe. Bauer > Corbin Burnes, Corey Ray, Trey Supek 3.) Trade for Will Smith. Smith > Tristan Lutz, Caden Lemons 4.) Trade for Ian Kennedy. Kennedy & 10 mil. > Z. Brown, B. Francis 5.) Trade for Neil Walker. Walker > Aguilar 6.) Trade Z. Davies to whoever for prospects. Rotation: Bauer Woodruff Houser Anderson Gio/Chacin Bullpen: Chacín Peralta Perdomo Guerra Albers Kennedy Jeffress Smith Lineup: Cain Yelich Hiura Moose Grandal Thames Braun/Gamel Arcia/Dubon Bench: Freitas Walker Give up 4 middling prospects. 3 good, a stud Burnes. But I get back a top 100 for Davies, 2 top 100s & a top 150 for Hader. So It’s a net gain on prospects. And my rotation has 2 aces, and pen that can still shut down the oppo., offense is better with Freitas Dubon and Walker. And next year I convince my owner to raise the payroll for ONE year to 180 million and plug holes at 3rd and C, and with a second half Knebel And shut down pen, Bauer Woody Houser Peralta Balazovic as my ridiculous rotation, I go on another deep run.
  11. Cubbies better offense > Yes. But the crew can improve theirs internally(Freitas Grisham Dubon) and at the deadline to match or exceed. And we have more $ and prospect capital to spend than they do at the deadline. Reds gonna be a problem > Yes. Imo a split should be welcomed.
  12. Mid-Season power rankings: 1.) Dodgers > should win 105+, can someone steal the pennant from these guys? 2.) Braves > pitching not scary(yet) chemistry, great fundamentals, clutch hitting, great manager. 3.) Brewers > distant 3rd, but could be a dominant team again later in year, have $ And or prospects to improve big time at the deadline. 4.) Cubbies > really hate this team, fans, city, ballpark. But they still have a good team, but like last year crew has their number. 5.) Rockies > will improve at the deadline enough for the wild card, potentially, the worst team ever to finish the season playing at. 6.) Cardinals > Mo in trouble, trades and signings have been dreadful. 7.) Phillies > They will also improve at the deadline, but their manager will hold them back again. 8.) Reds > even though they sell Roark and Puig, Wood slides into rotation, this team could still surprise. 9.) D-Backs > to me, overachieving, but have pieces to sell. 10.) Padres > 3 years from Juggernaut. 11.) Nats > Dusty should be managing this team. 12.) Pirates > poor defense and big time sellers at the deadline or I’d have them higher with Hurdle. 13.) Mets > That’s what they deserve for hiring an agent as architect. 14.) Marlins > tremendous Organizational pitching depth will start to pay off at some point 15.) Giants > wow are they old and decrepit, Farhan has his work cut out, although having trillions of dollars at his disposal should help.
  13. Freitas Grisham Dubon Freitas intrigues me. The numbers are so ridiculous over 200 ABs that it's difficult to see him being a sub-.600 OPS player like his (smaller) MLB career to date. The bonus there is he's able to be a replacement for Aguilar and Pina, giving a bonus roster spot for someone else. Exactly. He’s a good D catcher, that can hit better than Pina. But Stearns preserves his Organizational depth to the detriment of the 25, imo.
  14. Pitching’s been good again lately. Roller coaster Ride continues. Every other month it’s been good, so we should be good till close to the deadline, then reinforcements, and then steady good on out.
  15. Not so dumb after all. He actually gets his players to play better than their talent. Did it with the Rockies too.
  16. Certainly doesn’t look good on paper. But ya never know, cause it’s baseball. I certainly would like our chances even if only slightly better, if Pina was switched out for Freitas. But patience of Job Stearns knows best.
  17. Sport trac shows payroll at 109 and includes moose Soria Schoop Granderson
  18. To the inside baseball world, scouts, front office, I would argue Woodruff right at this second, is valued as high as Walker Buehler, or any other young stud pitcher we can think of.
  19. Updated 2018 Team info from Forbes: Cubbies: Revenue > 452 Payroll > 195. (211) Gross profit > 87 Debt > 14% Cardinals: Revenue > 356 Payroll > 176. (164) Gross profit > 65 Debt> 11% Brewers: Revenue > 288 Payroll > 113 (126) Gross Profit > 66 Debt > 6% Reds: Revenue > 257 Payroll > 119 (126) Gross profit > 37 Debt > 10% Pirates: Revenue > 254 Payroll > 109. (77) Gross Profit > 39 Debt > 8% Brewers Franchise valuation up 25 mil. To 1.2 billion. Brewers revenue does NOT include playoff revenue. Brewers have one of the lowest debt % if not the lowest in all of baseball. Current payroll in parentheses. What stands out to me is the crew having only 13 mil.more in payroll than last year, that’s probably just what they made in playoff revenue alone, separate from their gross Profit. Point being, imo, they can take on quite a bit of salary at the trade deadline, which I hope they do to vastly improve their outlook for the rest of this year.
  20. You are so not wrong, there might be a more valuable pitcher out there, I just can’t think of who it might be.
  21. Houser should probably be higher, but no team is giving up great value for a 26 year old right-hander that’s still unproven and until very recently had a likely ceiling of no better than a middle inning reliever. The list is actually pretty good overall in terms of the way teams would value the players listed above. Ok, I’ll take your word for it since I’m too lazy to really study it and you obviously have, But the brewer values leave a lot to be desired, imo.
  22. 15th ace, amirite? Plus...we're going to trade and sign another 3 or 4. So we're going to have to be shuffling aces from the big to the minors next year! We have one budding Ace in Woodruff, another that should get there at some point moving forward in Burnes, another that could be if they let him start in Rasmussen, I’d stop there, so one ace, maybe 2 more down the road, but I’m not waiting, I’d like to trade for one and sign one, so Woodruff could be my #3 next year. And Houser my #4, who, would be an awfully strong 4, with his ridiculous stuff.
  23. 15th ace, amirite? That might be an exaggeration. Time will tell.
