  1. Scoring runs without multiple homers is kinda cool
  2. This should be the first of multiple deals Stearns needs to do before the deadline. EE would fill our biggest need, an elite righty bat that can crush good pitching. And we can get him for zero or little prospect capital.
  3. I saw you say this on Tuesday... I guess I just don’t understand how you think you understand the amount of rest he needs, during the comeback from a major injury, more than the Brewers do... I don’t. Just don’t think it’s about rest.
  4. Will Smith is going to command a lot more than Stearns would ever part with imo. He will be the most sought after rental RP by far on the market, bidding war big time, no thanks. Watson > meh, Dyson > meh. Moronta > no.
  5. I still think the brewers made a mistake in not starting Jimmy last Tuesday, but whatever, they had their reasons. 10 days since his last start obviously doesn’t bode well for him to try to regain command of his pitches. Not expecting a great start, but he needs to pitch, and hopefully he’ll surprise today.
  6. Yelich !,Moose !, Grandal !,has been our offense this year. With an occasional Braun and Arcia. Not enough, need more.
  7. This team needs 3 bats, Hiura’s one of them. Burnes needs to work on his mechanics, needs to go down below and get stretched and just pitch, gonna need him later in the year.
  8. Hiura will improve the offense, but we have 6 weeks max to form our final team(outside of internal call-ups) and should be looking hard at solving the Shaw/Aguilar black holes. Imo this team can SUBSTANTIALLY improve its run scoring capabilities vs the good pitching it will hit against in the playoffs, and that offense will be less expensive to acquire PROSPECT wise than pitching at the deadline. Bats that can hit good pitching wins championships. Boston Houston Cubbies last 3 champions had great hitting.
  9. Melky Cabrera would be my choice, not a great defender but can he hit. This offense can use a .300 hitter who doesn’t K. Sticking with the Pirates, Corey Dickerson, little more expensive, been injured, but had a good year last year.
  10. Since I’m going big already for Bauer and Santana, but still want an impact reliever, I go with Jake Diekman. Jake Diekman > Marcos Diplan & Taylor Williams
  11. NO! Santana is set to make $21M next year and $17.5M in 2021. Bauer is arby eligible and due a big raise from his current $13M contract. Both are too expensive for the Crew. Option year in 2021. Chacin, Anderson, Thames, Moose, Grandal and Gonzalez are all coming off the books next year (or could come off the books). Their contracts would decrease the prospect capital we'd have to send them...assuming the Indians are looking for salary relief. It's all part of the negotiations, anyway. Santana is having a career year. I'm fine with Thames/Aguilar for now...but I might not be in a month. Another switch hitter would be great. I've loved Grandal's ability from both sides. If the tribe decides to sell, trading for both would be a truly all in move, filling our two biggest holes with top players at their positions. This would give us a great shot at a championship for the next 2 years. A true #1 to go with Woodruff giving us two starters that can compare with the best teams we’ll face in the playoffs. Then adding a bat the quality of Santana helps our K prone lineup. Trade Thames at the deadline and Anderson this offseason for prospects and salary relief. That’s Saves 1 mil this yr and 15 mil next yr Bauer salary > 4 mil & 18 mil(est) Santana salary > 7 mil & 21 mil Then the prospects: Santana & Bauer & 15 mil > Burnes & Supek & Ray & Dubon
  12. Do they need it or do you just want to see it? They've averaged 5.25 runs per game since he was sent down. With no help from Shaw or Aguilar, and Hiura’s a better bat in the lineup than either one of them.
  13. With Hiura destroying AAA pitching, 2 more home runs tonight, and the super 2 safety day fast approaching, I think when that day is here they need to option Shaw and or trade or release Aguilar. They need Hiura’s bat back in the lineup.
  14. Knebel was unhittable in September but Jeffress also started his decline, and Guerra is better than Soria. Claudio > Jennings, Houser = Woodruff, pretty close top to bottom imo. With the potential to get better with Nelson or Chacín or Anderson or Gio joining at some point moving forward. Should be the best NL bullpen.
  15. It would be nice if we had a bullpen that could keep things close when the SP was taken to the woodshed by the other team. It would also help if CC understood bad Freddy isn't the type of pitcher you try to get 1 more inning out of when your team is trailing by 1. That 4 run 5th really did in the Brewers - take it away and they are battling to the end in a close game (or minimize the damage by going to the bullpen to start the 5th), maybe even winning a tough game against a good team. Instead another kick in the ass loss. We’re getting closer. With Chacín being activated Monday to the rotation and Peralta probably to the pen, with Barnes going back down, that will strengthen the front of the pen. No Barnes, by itself, strengthens the pen, but with Houser emerging as a real weapon to go with Peralta, I believe the crew can keep games closer. When Barnes is sent down, our bullpen, imo, will be as strong as any pen we had last year, including the post deadline pen. And if Burnes can get his command just a little better, we might not need a pen arm at the deadline.
  16. Their not scary good with out Altuve, Correa, and Springer. Nothing wrong with that comment. All I said earlier was for Peralta to Pitch in Nelson’s turn in the order when he’s struggling with command, and now it’s gonna be 10 days between starts, is setting Nelson up to fail, imo. The crew keeps talking about keeping jimmy in a routine, how he’s so routine orientated, and now they substitute him for Peralta, breaking up his routine, and at the worst possible time. I’ll be surprised if he has command of his pitches Saturday.
  17. Barnes keeps getting chances because his FIP this year is 3.88 (xFIP is 4.02) and for his career is 3.59 with 9.4 K/9. His BABIP this year is .333 (unluckily high) and his LOB% is 53.4% (well below his career LOB% of 69%). He's not great - he's an average major league reliever - but he is nowhere near as bad as some here think he is. Goodness Gracious stop with the stats and open your eyes. Mop up duty pitcher, and he’s not even able to do that well.
  18. For instance........................ What are you talking about?
  19. didn't you say we had something like 6 potential aces? I've taken things with a grain of salt since then. regardless, love seeing the enthusiasm. I remember my days in college spending lots of time on this site, posting a crap ton. Of course, back then it was all about the Link Report and the minor league forum, as our MLB teams were pretty bad. Now it’s 6 aces. 3-4 tor arms including Nelson is what I said. Then admitted it was a silly prediction. And Every now and then it’s thrown back at me, but only by a certain few, and that’s ok because most see them for what they are.
  20. Nelson should have started this game. Instead they push him back to sat 10 days between starts, when he needs to pitch to work out command issues. Puzzling pitching decisions lately by this team.
