  1. After dropping the first game of today’s doubleheader, the AA Shuckers turn to LHP Nate Peterson (3.66 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 19.2 IP) for the night cap. C Andy Yerzy is the only lineup change, as we wonder about INF Freddy Zamora’s whereabouts.
  2. High-A Wisconsin is down 2-0 in its home series against Great Lakes and has RHP Will Rudy (5.93 ERA in 13.2 IP) on the hill tonight.
  3. After just 20.1 IP in AA ball, 24-year RHP Tyler Woessner (2.66 ERA with 29 Ks) makes his debut for AAA Nashville. The Sounds trail Norfolk 2 games to 0 in this week’s home series. After 2 weeks in the majors, 1B Owen Miller is back.
  4. 20-year old RHP Jesus Rivero (4.11 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 11.7 K/9 in 15.1 IP) starts for Low-A Carolina as they aim for a 3-0 home series lead over Columbia. LF Yhoswar Garcia has dropped to 2nd in SBs in the Carolina League (11), so will try to make up ground.
  5. RF Lamar Sparks’ deep funk continues, K’ing on 4 pitches with 1 out and runners on the corners in the 2nd inning. 0-0 through 2 innings. Stranded runners: Biloxi 3, Tennessee 0. Oh, our Shuckers are facing 34-year old rehabbing MLBer Kyle Hendricks.
  6. 25-year old RHP TJ Shook (2.89 ERA with 25 Ks in 18.2 IP) is the oldest long man on the Shuckers and has been in AA ball since May 19, 2022. You’ve gotta figure that he’s chomping at the bit to get to AAA. Minor note: AA Southern League ERA 3.48; AAA International League ERA 4.95. Adjusting to AAA ball takes time and work - see CF Rodriguez, Blake Holub and James Meeker for further proof.
  7. Mike Boeve doubles to left with 1 out in the 1st inning, but they can’t get him home.
  8. Along with confirming the aforementioned promotion of Tyler Woessner to AAA Nashville (see above): C Eric Haase placed on Taxi Squad, which appears to mean he's technically still on AAA Nashville's roster but is inactive (as the MLB club evaluates C Gary Sanchez's health status) RHP Bryan Rivera promoted to ACL Brewers from DSL-Brewers2 RHP Enniel Cortez promoted to ACL Brewers from DSL-Brewers1 RHP Melvin Hernandez promoted to ACL Brewers from DSL-Brewers2 LHP Anthony Flores promoted to ACL Brewers from DSL-Brewers1 RHP Eric Prado promoted to ACL Brewers from DSL-Brewers1 LHP Bjorn Johnson activated by ACL Brewers
  9. The AAA Sounds have LHP Aaron Ashby (11.20 ERA in 13.2 AAA IP) starting tonight as they seek to even their home series against Norfolk 1-1. LF Isaac Collins hit streak is now 8 games.
  10. The AA Shuckers have lost 6 of 7 games and turn to RHP Bradley Blalock (1.35 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 6.8 K/9 in 20 IP) for tonight’s series opener at Tennessee. Biloxi has just 6 homers to this point in the season vs. 24 for the Smokies.
  11. Low-A Carolina is 16-6 and seeks a 2-0 home series lead over Columbia. 19-year old RHP Daniel Corniel (3.86 ERA with 13 Ks in 11.2 IP) makes his 4th start. Three more hits yesterday pushed 3B Juan Baez into a tie for the league lead in hits (27).
  12. Vargas is hit by a 1-1 pitch, so Dylan O’Rae gets a second chance for a late inning clutch hit. No dice. He grounds to short for the 2nd time in 3 innings, this time for a game-ending force out. Good spirit, but it’s a loss. Credit the hitters with extending at-bats and Manfredi with K’ing 7 in 3 innings after giving up a solo homer to the first batter he faced (Wisconsinite Noah Miller).
  13. Welp. Ramon Rodriguez grounds into a double play. Then Terence Doston hits a first pitch solo homer. 9-8. 2 outs. Jheremy Vargas up to extend this thing.
  14. Jadher Areinamo starts off the bottom of the 9th inning with a single (3-for-4 on the day), so the next 3 T-Rats will get the chance to erase this 9-7 deficit.
  15. Bizarre T-Rats matinee. 3 homers and bad defense staked Great Lakes to a big lead (8-0) that they’ve now largely blown (8-7) via weak singles, walks, HBPs. Dylan O’Rae just had a bases loaded chance for a clutch hit, but grounded out on a 2-0 count to end the 7th inning. No minor league moves announced. Not even Haase for Sanchez. Blalock throwing tonight. He’s gotten great results, but has been lacking Ks.
  16. Singles from Ramon Rodriguez and Terence Dotson cut the deficit to 8-7. That’s 7 straight runs in 2 innings for Wisconsin without the benefit of an extra-base hit. Go Timber Rattlers!!
  17. T-Rats fell behind 8-0 despite Great Lakes being 1-for-13 with RISP. But now Wisconsin has scored 5 unanswered runs in the 6th and 7th innings to make things interesting, with 2-on, 2-out and C Ramon Rodriguez looking to keep the rally going.
  18. Bauers has a 4 BB / 26 K ratio. I doubt we’ll see him make many more starts. Maybe Ortiz or Turang should get some OF innings.
  19. High-A Wisconsin turns to RHP Patricio Aquino (6.23 ERA in 13 IP) as they need a home win to even their series with Great Lakes. SS Gregory Barrios leads the Midwest League in hits (27) and doubles (10).
  20. Two former Brewer minor leaguers have recently signed in the independent Frontier League: - RHP Anthony Perez (now 220lbs?) - Lake Erie Crushers - OF Arbert Cipion - New Jersey Jackals
  21. So what are we projecting? - no punishment for Peralta - fine for Murphy, but no suspension - umpire goes for sensitivity and de-escalation training - Uribe suspended 10 games, pleads down to 7 games - Siri suspended 5 games
  22. Nice to see Vieira have a solid inning - weak contact, no walks, 2 Ks, last pitch at 100.3mph.
  23. Blame Gary Sanchez’s hamstring (for making Kahle relieve Haase, which preceded the homer fest).
  24. Is today Daniel Guilarte cycle day? He seems to be figuring out this whole baseball thing. Go Mudcats!
