On the one hand, this feels like the kind of game where we'll fall behind 8-0, ultimately lose 10-7, then search for silver linings in a failed late comeback. On the other hand, the Brewers should understand as much as anyone how One Defeat can screw up an opposing team's best laid pitching plans. Just One Defeat of LA would leave them needing to win Game 5 in order to avoid travelling back to Milwaukee. C'mon guys - throw a massive wrench in LA's plans.

On the bright side, Snell’s start doesn’t look quite as impressive anymore.

Makes sense to me, with Quintana supporting Priester to capture Game 1 and Misiorowski providing extensive long relief in Game 3’s win. I figure the only roster spot up for grabs is Gasser’s, which could go to any of Zastryzny, Myers, Hall, Henderson, Yoho, McGee or Fedde.

- RHP Aidan Maldonado released by High-A Wisconsin

I seem to emphasize nearness to MLB (e.g. Logan Henderson, Robert Gasser, Carlos Rodriguez, Craig Yoho, Chad Patrick, Caleb Durbin early in 2025) and youth (e.g. Manuel Rodriguez, Ethan Dorchies, Josh Knoth before injury) more than others. On injuries, I'll largely hold a player steady (e.g. Gasser, Quero, Knoth) until a new setback (e.g. Quero's "bolts" in his shoulder, Josh Adamczewski's Yelichesque down time in 2024 and 2025).

Old friend Janson Junk (175.1 Nashville innings in 2023/24; 15.1 Brewers’ IP) is scheduled to start for Miami at the Phillies on Thursday. He’s had a respectable MLB season since having his contract selected in May:

Guessing we won’t see Chourio (0-for-last-18) or Contreras (caught 2 straight days) in the Wednesday starting lineup against Cease. And Patrick will start on short rest, so will probably be limited to 3 innings. Yelich, Frelick, Perkins, Collins, Turang, Bauers, Jansen plus 2. Patrick and Carlos Rodriguez (if recalled) cover 8 innings. Brewers will win anyway, cause we rock.

I figure Haase, Cameron, Oliva and Delgado each have a chance at finding a Major League deal, but I doubt that we’ll be the ones to give it. We’re rather outfield-heavy (Chourio, Yelich, Frelick, Perkins, Collins, Mitchell, Lockridge, Berroa, Black/Bauers), Haase and Cameron can’t be optioned, and Delgado isn’t really a shortstop. At least 2 of them should secure MLB deals elsewhere, I’m guessing. Of course, if any want to willingly re-up with on a Minor League deal, I’m sure we’ll jump at the chance.

Though he only pitched in 2 AAA games and is presently injured, I’m guessing we’ll still protect 24-year old RHP Coleman Crow. Nobody else though…

After starting RHP Alexander Cornielle (4 1/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks) conceded a first inning homer to Louisville’s 21-year old OF Hector Rodriguez for the second time this week, then escaped a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the second inning (pop out and 2 Ks), Herron’s 351-foot shot knotted the game, Kahle delivered a 103.7mph single and OF Daz Cameron (2-for-5) crushed a 419-foot, 2-run shot for Nashville’s first lead at 3-1. While both teams stranded their fair share of baserunners in the middle innings, Louisville’s utility man Levi Jordan was busy playing all nine positions, conquering the infield spots for 4 frames, then the outfield for 3 innings, with Louisville also exciting their 5,100 fans by tying the game with a 2-out, 2-run single off LHP Brian Fitzpatrick in the bottom of the 7th inning. Jordan then went to the mound to face 3 batters to commence the 8th inning, conceding a single to SS Freddy Zamora (2-for-5) before inducing a force out and being let down by an infield error. Facing an actual professional pitcher again (RHP Buck Farmer), Kahle delivered his 3rd hit of the game to drive home 2 runs and re-take the lead at 6-4 in the 8th inning. Having stranded 2 baserunners for Fitzpatrick in the 7th inning, RHP Craig Yoho made quick work of the Bats in the 8th inning, all in all retiring 4 batters in just 13 pitches (10 strikes): 2 Ks, 1 infield fly out, 1 ground out, before OF Jared Oliva (solo homer; 3-for-5) and Kahle (3-run dinger) put the game away in the 9th inning. Sounds’ Extras: Eight of Nashville’s nine batters reached base via hit or walk in the fun-filled game (while the remaining player stole a base), with 6 players having multi-hit games. In addition to dominating with his bat, Kahle also threw out a baserunner to end the first inning. RHP Blake Holub (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) and Julian Merryweather (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 Ks) also ended their seasons by throwing up zeros. We know that C Jeferson Quero was in St. Louis, added to the Brewers' taxi squad as insurance in case William Contreras couldn't play. It would not be a surprise if several other players (e.g. OF Brandon Lockridge, RHP Easton McGee, Yoho, INF Anthony Seigler, 1B/OF Tyler Black, RHP Carlos Rodriguez) are also kept close by in case they're needed for the Brewers' post-season roster. Craig Yoho made mincemeat of the 4 batters he faced: 13 pitches, 10 strikes, 2 Ks, 1 infield fly out, 1 ground out. And now Jared Oliva starts the 9th inning with his 11th homer of 2025, triggering at least a 5-run inning. Nick Kahle collects his 4th hit on a 349-foot, 3-run dinger. 11-4 Sounds. And yes, Louisville's Levi Jordan is catching this inning, playing all 9 positions in the game.

Craig Yoho came on in relief and induced a fly out to escape that 7th inning, still tied 4-4. Now Bats' infielder Levi Jordan is playing his 8th position of the game, pitching the top of the 8th inning. He faced three batters, giving up a single to Zamora, inducing a Murray ground out, then being let down by an infield error. Jordan now moves to 3rd base and will presumably catch the 9th inning. 2-on, 1-out, Nick Kahle at the plate with the game tied 4-4 in the top of the 8th inning and an actual pitcher coming on in relief for Louisville. And Kahle collects his 3rd hit of the game, sending an 0-and-1 pitch into left field for a 2-run single and a 6-4 lead.

Two hit-by-pitches and an error gifted the Sounds a run for a 4-2 lead in the 7th inning, but Brian Fitzpatrick conceded a double, 2-out walk and 2-run single in the bottom of the 7th, so the game is tied 4-4. Now an infield single has runners on the corners for Louisville, still with 2 outs.
