  1. Can we get a photoshop pic of Bud Selig crying like the woman with the Cubbies hat? We all know he was hoping for the ratings boost of NY/PHI in the World Series. Go underdogs!
  2. Melvin sucks at signing free agent pitchers, bottom line. I have despised Wolf since the game he cussed out Lucroy on the mound. No class. No good.
  3. YES! He got them back!! The most hated team in all of sports for me gets owned by the guy they let go...for nothing. Go McGehee!
  4. Casey McGehee = Redemption Time. Get the Cubbies back!
  5. Good to see that bunting practice with the coaches helped Gomez...
  6. Macha trying to out "La Russa" La Russa I guess with these pitching moves...
  7. I like how Manny is going right after hitters here tonight. Seems very, very confident throwing all of his pitches. He teases us with games like this -- if only he did this consistently. "BP" Bushy may have already given up 7 runs by now if he was pitching...
  8. It irritates me to read posters highlight the fact that they didn't boo a player, but enjoyed seeing others do it. Does it somehow make you a "better fan" because you didn't physically boo him? No. If a guy has a 7+ ERA, makes $12.5 million, routinely gives up multiple runs in his outings, and puts fans through "I actually felt pretty good today" quotes after horrible performances instead of saying "I sucked" patience wears real thin. That's your right as a fan and its his responsibility to perform well if he doesn't want to hear the boos (which he probably convinces himself are really "Sooooooooups" to sleep well at night).
  9. I agree with TheCrew07 that this team's failures fall squarely on Doug Melvin. You can't put it on Hoffman, Doug Davis, LaTroy Hawkins, Jeff Suppan, etc. as individuals because the entire pitching staff is garbage. The fact is Doug Melvin has never focused on building a farm system strong on pitching prospects nor has he or his staff scouted well enough to find starting pitchers in free agency that have made a noteworthy impact on the team. Melvin has been given the opportunity over Attanasio's first few years as owner to right the ship and I believe that leash is going to be cut very soon. An owner can only see history repeat itself so many times before he gets so frustrated that he pulls the trigger himself (ie. Ned getting canned just before the end of the season). Failure to assemble even an "average" pitching staff for 2 straight years is inexcusable and fresh blood may be necessary to take this team to the next level. That is one of the reasons why I want no part of Dale Sveum as manager. He's rehashed Ned and I don't want to see Gantner, Yount, and the old cronies assemble in the dugout to form a Brewers 1980's reunion party as a part of his staff. This season is turning out to be one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory for this team and Melvin's luck is running out.
  10. Anyone heard an interview from Melvin lately? I wonder what he has to say about this miserable play. Better yet, I'd like to see quotes from Attanasio. He's seeing 0 return on his investment and we know he wants to win as bad as we all do.
  11. How ironic that the pressure of pitching Hoffman to allow him to achieve the 600th save might end up ruining this team this season. Achieving a statistic is much more important than winning games I guess. Hate to say it but this team deserves to lose 10 plus games in a row because of the stupidity of management. Good days work Trevor.
  12. DFA. Period. It's sad when you know full well that no other team would want Suppan on their roster and yet we do and trot him out there. He is beyond pathetic and we're going to waste another season away due to bad pitching. Who is to be held accountable for this?
  13. The fact that Suppan is still on this team because of money is going to kill us this season. Instead of having a guy like Braddock in the bullpen that could instill some worry in the other team's manager, they have a guy like Suppan who instills fear in no one but Brewers fans.
  14. It's a good thing they improved that pitching staff this offseason.
  15. Hoffman has lost his confidence that is why people are saying he's done. Throwing either all fastballs or all changeups shows indecision and confusion as he doesn't think anything will go right for himself these days. He's realizing that he's not fooling anyone out there anymore; as telling by all the bombs he's giving up. For all those people that want to keep trotting this guy out there and coughing up wins, don't forget the Cubs finished only 2 games ahead of the Brewers last year. That shows the margin of error and the costliness of each of these games that go by the wayside.
  16. Sooooooooooup! Every time he pitches, I expect a loss. This guy collects a big check so he gets to start - absolute garbage.
  17. Villa looks like he's in command of his off-speed pitches today. He's got these guys on their heels at the plate.
  18. A part of me wanted to see Suppan get absolutely shelled today to make a point of how foolish Melvin and Co. are putting him in the rotation because of $$ but the fan in me NEVER wants to lose to the Cubs.
  19. Unless he is the last person left in the bullpen NEVER pitch Hawkins in Wrigley. The fans and/or that ballpark are definitely still in his head from his days of being boo'd mercilessly there.
  20. Nice win today. I'll be rooting on the Crew from the rooftops at Wrigley tomorrow. Go get 'em Double D the Cubbie Killer!
  21. It didn't make me feel good when Hoffman only pitched a few times in game-situations in spring training. Simulated games do not prepare pitchers for 9th inning situations. It is inexcusable to blow these 3-run leads to the divisional favorite.
