I live in Chicago and won't be able to make the rally tomorrow. You better believe all the hours spent watching my MLB.TV on the laptop was well worth it. CC can leave at the end of the season for $1 more than the Brewers would offer and I swear to anything that I would still respect this man 100%. He put himself at risk to lose $100 million++ by straining himself to pitch on three days rest 3 times in a row. That is mind boggling. What heart...what desire...what will to win that man possesses inside. As Maddux said, ride that stallion!
I heard rumblings of Coffey being allowed on as well. I thought it had something to do with Sheets' injury and how you're allowed to fill the playoff roster spot with a guy who wasn't on your Sept. 1st roster if a regular player goes down. Please clarify to my point to see if what I heard was true...if anyone knows.
I hope we're celebrating on Sunday too (or heck, even Monday) but why do I get the feeling that Lou won't be running out a lineup with Pie, Hoffpauir, Fontenot, McGehee, and Koy Hill all in at the same time tomorrow night.
You probably don't see it happening because of the first two game's matchups. I don't feel at all confident in Soup and Bushy either, honestly. The first game is huge. If we win that one, I believe we'll get 2 of 3. If not, we'll only salvage one win in that series.
The stat junkies who live and die by numbers don't like the word "clutch" because they can't measure it in statistics. We all know certain players are more inclined to hit in pressure situations *cough cough* Aramis Ramirez.
This is bittersweet news day. Good news about Yo pitching Thursday and bad news about the announcement of Suppan pitching Friday... ...and even worse news is that we have Suppan under contract for 2 more years.
This is the type of game that we all may look back on and remember as the turning point. I'm not buying those who say there is no such thing as momentum game-to-game in MLB. This can lead to special things. CC is going to be lights out tomorrow night -- book it!
I'm actually very concerned with the Astros. Only 3.5 games back from the WC, they have an easy schedule the rest of the way with 2 home series against CIN and ATL.
In my mind, if we lose the WC by 1 game, I'm looking back at that Cubs game when Torres blew that gimme win on that Soto HR. And of course, all the missed opportunities by our hitters with RISP where we failed to convert. I don't know about you guys...
I'm not surprised he left him out there for 109 pitches. He's their 5th starter in a 4-man playoff rotation. He's meaningless to setting up their playoff rotation.
YES! That's the "gunslinger" Favre always trying to make something happen -- another notch in Ted Thompson's belt. I'm sure Favre is regretting his decision already!
I could never root for the Jets. Every win for Favre will intensify criticism of Rodgers (as unfair as that is). The Packers made the right decision and have the better QB playing in green and gold right now. A few Jets wins in a Tom Brady-less division means nothing.
If the Cubs hold on to win this, we'll be 1 back obviously. Just a few days ago it was a 2.5 game deficit. It's time for the Brewers to put up or shut up. Play with a sense of urgency that we haven't seen at all this month. We're playing the Pirates. Take advantage of home field!
