  1. Sign him. Spluge. Go in debt. Find some investors. Take up a collection, just sign him. Couldn't have said it better myself. Get it done, Doug. This guy could be a force in the lineup for the next 4 years if you ante up. 40 HR+ season on the horizon!
  2. I don't get why they pull Jackson there after only throwing 78 pitches?? And for Jeremi Gonzalez, arguably the worst guy we've got in the 'pen? Doesn't make any sense to me. This Gonzalez is meat.
  3. The part of this that blows is that you guys are right in the now Hart will end up on a milk carton. I highly doubt that. Ned seems to take a liking to guys who man RF and religiously have 0-3 nights with 2 K's.
  4. Jeff Cirillo hitting 3rd? It's a run-producing spot in the lineup so why not put a power threat like Hart there? Sometimes Ned's moves get me a little frustrated. He'll stick with Jenkins in the 3rd spot for 3 weeks too long and let losses and his strikeout totals mount before making a move, but he won't give a promising player like Hart that spot in the order? Mind boggling. That being said, Cirillo will probably hit 2 HR's and have 4 RBI in that spot tonight and I will come back and have to *gladly* eat my words in 3 hours.
  5. I'm going to stay positive today because we lost basically because of one pitch. I respect going after Dunn right there because he's noted for looking at called third strikes and why not go right at 'em? But this Villanueva kid is very impressive to watch. He's got great composure out there, as Steve Stone pointed out, and he really excels in damage control situations with men on. It only took me one outing to tell Hendrickson didn't have big league stuff to consistently get players out, and it only takes one outing to tell me Villanueva is for real. Brewers should have won this ballgame. Too many missed opportunities with men on second and third and the inning where Koskie got thrown out at the plate was a heartbreaker that you knew would haunt us the rest of the day. Still a great game to watch, albeit frustrating at times, we really saw a true pitchers dual today.
  6. Jenkins proves it's not where you hit in the lineup that counts. It's the hitter. He just flat out stinks no matter if he's hitting 3rd, 1st, 7th or wherever. It would be nice to get some production out of your other corner OF. His strikeouts might be warranted if he actually hit for some power here and there. He's a waste of space. I want him gone!
  7. I'm impressed with Jackson too. He goes right at hitters and isn't a nibbler ala Doug Davis. He actually trusts his "stuff" and will be a good one cause he typically keeps the ball down and pitches to contact. I'm just saying let's forget about the touchy feely "how does the kid feel?" type of stuff and worry about getting him some big league work and trying to put the best man on the mound to get wins. This isn't a AAA team where we're trying to develop talent and take lumps. We're trying to win ballgames and this kid is helping keep us in the game.
  8. Fails to remove a young pitcher after a good inning that would allow him to feel good about himself between starts. Are we trying to make our young pitchers "feel good" or are we trying to win a ballgame? If Ned thinks he's still doing his thing out there, then let the man pitch.
  9. Jenkins sitting??? That would be a laugh. No way Ned is going to sit his old "buddy". I love how somewhere out of the blue Jenkins is now Ned's 'buddy' because somebody on the internet thinks so. When a guy is stinking it up as bad as Jenkins is and still continues to be in the lineup everyday and for some odd reason stays in the best hitters' position in the order (3rd) it isn't out of the realm of thinking to call the player a "buddy" of the manager. That's a big reason why myself and others called Wes Helms Ned's "buddy." Helms did nothing to merit starting, yet for some reason got to play and stunk it up. Jenkins is killing this lineup right now and there's no end in sight for his slump with the way he looks up there batting clueless swinging at balls in the dirt and surprising us all when he doesn't strikeout.
  10. Fine, keep the guy on the team. Don't be whining at the end of the season when the team is way under .500 and Jenks is still struggling. I'm looking to improve the team, and wish I could sit here happy that we're above .500 and have guys in our lineup who are producing. Jenks is killing us. Any way you slice it, he is very lousy up there at the plate and he pulls the same ol' game every year. Starts out the season horribly and comes through at the end of the year when it's too late and we're too far out of contention to actually make a run at anything noteworthy. If you think this guy is going to lead us anywhere, you may need a wakeup call very soon.
  11. I'm glad a lot of others on this board are starting to snap when it comes to Jenkins. He just looks clueless up there at the plate. And that's not a good thing for a guy who hits 3rd in your lineup. When he's got 2 strikes on him, I assume a K is coming. I am borderline shocked if he makes contact and stunned if he squeezes out a hit. His power is way down, his D isn't anything to write home about, and he really doesn't provide anything that Hart or Gross couldn't match. This guy is a joke out there right now, and it was nice to see even Gord Ash losing his patience with Jenkins horrible approach vs. lefties during today's telecast. Instead of whining about it Gord, bend Doug's ear and get his butt traded for some pitching help. Pull the trigger!
  12. This team is very frustrating to watch. I turn on the game to see a nice 6-0 cushion and then it's just like them to let it wither away and end up giving up 10 unanswered runs. I saw Ned snap for the first time in the dugout tonight right as Winkelsas was giving up a walk. He said "***** terrible." You could read his lips perfectly. It's good to see him losing it a little bit. The time is NOW to trade Jenkins. Trade him for whatever you can get, just dump that bloated contract. He is not worth even half of what he makes. He's useless against lefties and really is no real power threat at all. You can put Corey Hart or Gross in there and not even lose a beat. In fact, I would argue we would be better off with that platoon, rather than a Geoff Jenkins playing everyday out in RF. There's a lot of weaknesses on this team and right now it's pretty much all about damage control until some semblance of health returns.
  13. Derrick Turnbow=Doug Henry Chalk up the WIN for Mr. Henry then. Billy Hall for Kyle Lohse is looking more foolish by the minute. If they think they can get Billy for a guy they're letting rot in AAA right now, they are sorely mistaken (unless Melvin is going absolutely senile).
  14. So is Jeff Cirillo our SS now? I thought that was a 1-game experiment/punishment for Billy. Maybe Cirillo's B.A. and eye at the plate makes him an ideal number 2 hitter for Yost. If Ned feels his bat and glove are deserving enough to start, you gotta respect that decision.
  15. Who else out there is laughing (at least a little bit inside right now)? I know I'm not the only one. This is borderline ridiculous so how can you not laugh? Someone better be fired or demoted after this one.
  16. Last time I checked, these guys are paid to perform and win ball games. And the other team is payed to beat them. I never understood this argument. 2006: "The Hunt For Ned's October" There really wasn't an argument being made by me there. It was a matter of suggesting the Brewers players are worthless right now and they're not even showing a sense of urgency right now while reeling. Let's get 20 games back again and then make a move for the sake of making one. And P.S. you may want to change that "2006: The Hunt for Ned's October" thing to 2007 or 2008. The only thing Ned will be hunting in October of '06 is deer or quail.
  17. PLEASE tell me we didnt just lose again. We didn't just lose again. This is all a figment of our imaginations. Turnbow has a sub-2 ERA like last year, is lights out, and our hitting in key situations is better than ever! We have a great team that's contending for the playoffs and we wouldn't lose series to the Pirates or Nationals. That just wouldn't be the Brewers.
  18. Which team out there would be desperate enough to take Jenkins bloated contract and zero production off our books? Please tell me someone out there is dumb enough to do this good deed for us.
  19. I'm rooting for the Brewers NOT to lose.
  20. Davis would have won it. Does it really matter who would've won the game. The BREWERS would've won and that's all that matters. I would worry more about getting a win after losing 6 straight rather than concerning yourself with which pitcher gets credited with the win. We're not the Cardinals, you know. We can't be picky with wins...we just want to get one.
  21. Is it really fair to ask that of him? Even the greatest of closers gives up a hit or walk per inning on average. After this 7th straight loss, NO, it's not too much to ask for 3 outs. Last time I checked, these guys are paid to perform and win ball games. To my recollection, they haven't been doing this lately. Turnbow's terrible pitching is one of the many reasons why we stink.
  22. How about we hold Turnbow accountable for once? This guy can't get three straight outs for anything anymore. Even if he gets the save, he's always dangerously close to blowing it. Turnbow IS accountable. I typed that before I hit the refresh button on my yahoo game play and saw Schneider HR'd against him. I wanted Davis to finish it out even before I saw a run had crossed the plate.
  23. This is almost laugh out loud funny. "Uh, really I didn't have my best stuff tonight, uh, but I can't complain, that's for sure." -GOMER Turnbow, after another blown save
