  1. I don't think any ONE player is going to "carry us to the playoff". Please, do not make me sound dumb here by misconstruing my words. I asked if he was the Right Fielder that would be able to lead us into the playoffs at whatever point that may be? I have made my points very clear. I'm saying that he does not provide us with enough with his bat to 1) deserve what he's being paid and 2) to hit in the 3-spot with the on again/off again production that he has been so known to provide. Frankly, that $8 million can be better spent in myriads of different ways next year rather than to give it to Jenkins.
  2. Didn't Jenkins hit a 3 run double with 2 outs yesterday to give us a 4-3 lead? I consider that pretty clutch. If you're in the opinion that he is the RF that will carry us to playoff baseball in the future, I would respectfully disagree. He is not a 3-hitter, for starters. Your 3-hitter is supposed to be the best hitter on your team. He's supposed to be your best contact hitter and someone who will not go silent for weeks and have little spurts of brilliance that last for a few days and then wither away. I'm sorry but looking at things objectively, he does in fact deserve blame for the start that he has had this season. He is indeed one of the most overpaid everyday players in the big leagues at almost $8 million for the production or lack thereof that he gives this team.
  3. Well I'm of the opinion that for some reason jenks gets blamed whenever possible and when he does have a good game gets little to no credit. I respect that opinion. I'm waiting for the day when I can praise Jenkins after he comes clutch with a big hit to help us win a game. I don't recall the last time he did that though. I've been ready to give Jenks credit for awhile, but in reality, he doesn't have the approach to come through when the game is on the line.
  4. Good god. Of all the ppl to blame tonight. You know Prince struck out against wagner too and jenks drove in just as many as him too. I didn't blame him for tonight's outcome. This Jenkins stuff has been building up in me for awhile and tonight is just another example of no clutch hitting from him and a total lack of being able to hit with 2 strikes. This man is not designed for playoff baseball. Playoff baseball is about hitting with men on base, hitting with RISP, hitting with 2 strikes to tough opposing pitching, and being able to come through in the 3-hole for your team. I'm sorry for having this opinion, but as far as I can tell, I haven't said anything that could be taken as ONLY my opinion and not raw fact.
  5. Well our bullpen is in shambles, folks. The likes of Demaria, Lehr, Fernandez....these are AAA pitchers! I don't understand why we have to settle for this mediocrity in the bullpen. Valient effort tonight by the Crew though to battle back. I kind of figured it would either be hit or miss for T-bow tonight and I knew he would be very juiced up to get the ball in the 9th. The thing that upsets me is Geoff Jenkins. Why is it that when he gets 2 strikes on him, I (along with some of you probably too) assume a K is on the horizon? I just am discouraged by his overall effort up there at the plate at times. If the Yankees want him to replace Matsui, just dump him. Free up that salary for next season even if you get squat in return. Please Melvin, make this move. Let Hart/Cruz/Gross man RF for us.
  6. Good 'ol Billy Hall. The guy just keeps raking. I have no problem sitting Hardy to get Bill some AB's and play him at his natural position SS. Every position is becoming his "natural" position, though.
  7. I wonder what the team sees in Lehr. He really hasn't shown me too much and last year wasn't a world beater either. Am I missing something with this guy?
  8. You seem surprised the Brewers are laying an egg. When I heard it was a sellout, I pretty much tacked an "L" on the board. Can never win with big crowds.
  9. The Padres' announcers are absolutely obnoxious. I suppose that's because Matt Vasgersian now does San Diego games. What did Matty say? 'Good Night Now' after the HR? I don't have the luxury of listening to them, so if you could fill us in with what they were saying, I'm sure we'd be interested in hearing their banter.
  10. I missed Rillo's HR...where did he hit it?
  11. El Caballo pulled out the ol' 3-iron on that one and golfed it right out. You gotta have a lot of muscle to hit one out here on a pitch like that. Who thought Petco could hold Carlos? I did. I'm glad I was wrong. Roberts took one in the grill on that one too pretty hard. Who said baseball wasn't a contact sport?
  12. Doug gets some runs to work with and this inning is far from over for our hitters (I hope). It's good to see Damian pull the ball. I'm used to seeing hits to RF from him (not that I'm complaining where it's hit...I'll take a hit an inch in front of the plate if it works). It just seems he really gets into the pitch when he pulls it.
  13. To not be able to express a vibrant opinion is in my view abhorrent. Finally, someone who truly gets the idea of true debate. Objectivity and criticism of a team when they're performing badly is a healthy thing. I hope others begin to realize this too.
  14. SD has won 9 straight. Tells me they're due for a loss. And it just so happens we're due for a win. Couldn't work out much better.
  15. I know we're down big, but this guy has absolutely no business pitching on a major league team. We could use this quote for a good majority of the arms in our bullpen. Evidently, Howry and Eyre were the pitchers Doug targeted this winter, but both chose to sign with the Cubbies. You are right, this Fernandez guy proved very early on this year that his "knuckleball" doesn't knuckle enough to get major league hitters out. Pretty sad state the Brewers pitching staff is in right now.
  16. Ohka's loss would hurt us if Ben Hendrickson is his long-term replacement for the year. I am not sold at all on Little Ben. He's a minor league pitcher, nothing more nothing less. From the first time I saw him, I knew his stuff would not be able to get out major league hitters consistently. However, if they wise up and bring up Eveland to take the 5th spot in the rotation, it would allow Dana to get some consistent action and prove he can hang with the big boys and stick with the club long-term. I would feel a lot more confident with Eveland than Hendrickson to take Tomo's spot.
  17. At least Turnbow is fresh to mop up the 8th inning for us and keep this a 7 run game. Do I sense a hint of sarcasm? I like it. Hey Ned, he was useful the last 2 games in the 9th inning wasn't he? Or maybe you really thought Demaria was the best option out there.
  18. Well, not a good west coast swing for the Crew, Cubs, Houston, or Cincy. Would've been a great opportunity to gain a few games on these other teams, but the bats were asleep the last few days and clutch hitting and effective bullpen pitching were nonexistent. Gotta hope for a 2 of 3 or a sweep vs. SD to make good of this seemingly dreadful trip.
  19. YES! Finally no Geoff Jenkins in the lineup. He needed a day off. Mostly because he hasn't hit worth a lick.
  20. You do realize that Ned was ejected from the game on Friday and the decisions in the bottom of the 9th were the responsibility of Maddux/Wynegar/whoever, right? You do realize that they do have televisions in the clubhouse, right? Ned could see what Nomar did against them on Friday. What's your point?
  21. And why are people back to Jenkins bashing when he's hitting around .290 and a OBP around .360? When he starts to hit with RISP I think people will start to lighten up their stance on him. My personal inclination is that if he's never hit well in that situation throughout his career, the chances are pretty good that he never will. He's a streaky player, and I'm sorry, but you can't pay a streaky player $8 mill/yr to have the kind of ups and downs he has. You should be able to count on a player like that to produce.
  22. Oh well, we'll get em tomorrow. Don't bet your house on that. We do have Ben Sheets pitching tomorrow, you know. Yost didn't learn his lesson I guess. Let Nomar kill you two days in a row. Is Ned that afraid to let Turnbow pitch more than 1 inning? Why can all these other teams try it? And Jenkins is absolutely killing us in that third spot. Someone ripped me yesterday when I said this, and I take exception to that person as well as Ned Yost for not sitting him on the pines. He hasn't had a game off all year long, or so it seems. I think the only reason why Ned doesn't put him in the 5-hole is he probably thinks teams will really pitch around Carlos to get to the free-swinging, guess-hitting strikeout machine whose nickname is "Jenks." You know what, Ned is right if he's thinking that way. Trade Jenkins if you can Melvin....he's the odd ball out. Get something for him while you are still able.
  23. < You must be Bill Hall, since you didn't play this evening and nothing better to do you thought you come and join us.> If so, HEY BILLY!!! It's been awhile since we've spoken! Glad to see you want some more P.T. Just wish you did it a little more professionally than airing your laundry on bf.net. I forgive ya though. Keep that good eye at the plate and man, awesome catch in CF (Jimmy Edmonds was even drooling).
  24. Yeah...why does it seem like many of the other teams we play aren't afraid to bring in their closer to get some outs in the 8th or pitch in non-close situations to keep the game even? I think this may be one of his Bobby Cox type of mindsets that he adopted???
  25. I can't tell if these posts are for real or all tongue-in-cheek? I can't see coming down on JJ this early and he's been great in the field. While I too want to see Hall in the lineup EVERY DAY, I think it's better to have him take the majority of the starts at 3B or CF and that would allow the young kids to play as much as possible and still have William Hall in that lineup creating havoc.
