  1. I want to vent about this article talking about the possibility of an all-Chicago World Series based on the current standings here in mid-April. Jeez, guys, where's the article about the possibility of a Marlins-Orioles Series? I mean, they'd both be in the playoffs if only the season was 18 games long!
  2. I'm pretty impressed with Kapler. I've gotta admit, before the last few weeks I always had this concept of Kapler as a cocky musclebound jerk (don't ask me why). He really sounds like a thoughtful, kind, team-focused guy. With his experiences with Greenville talking to the players about their lives and grounding them, it sounds like he'll be a great bench coach some day. He also had a very "Capuano"-esque perspective on Milwaukee as a city and as a baseball town, and given his words about his time in Japan, he seems to have that open-minded outlook on life in general, too. Wish Rome had asked him about his injury and the Brewers as a team though.
  3. Coming on now
  4. What, do the games count more in September than they do now? I'm not sure why he would pick now to test "the limits" knowing 1. He's got a deep, mostly-rested bullpen right now and 2. Gagne's injury history. And personally, it wasn't just the Gagne thing for me...I think this game should've never gone to extras. Weeks not bunting, Yo hitting, etc. etc.
  5. This will be one burnt into my memory if the Brew Crew misses the playoffs by a game or two. Paul Bako tied this game with a home run, folks.
  6. At one point in the game (about the 6th or 7th) the camera was on Yost and he just had this dazed smile on his face as he appeared to be staring into space. Did they all go out drinking last night or something? Hate hate hate to see this one slip out of our grasp
  7. This Reds' pregame segment is a little ridiculous: "How does Johnny Cueto compare to Greg Maddux at the respective stages of their careers?" Guys... I do like that Bronson Arroyo commercial though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCUZlQA_zhQ&feature=related
  8. So Prince is hyphy, eh? Maybe when the Crew comes to the Bay this August him and I can go ghost-riding with Bubb Rubb and Lil Sis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJDLRCXR2ZM Or at least with Nate and Ben...
  9. Someone wrote: Bill Hall used "Umma Do Me" by Rocko for one of his at bats.
  10. "Never," huh? Anyway, yeah, I was going to bump this thread and change the title.
  11. Yes, fire raining from the sky, the oceans opening up, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will begin racing in the middle of the 6th in lieu of the Sausages at MP, etc etc
  12. While this could simply be a strain of the triceps, it would not surprise me at all if this was a rotator cuff issue instead. This reminds me of a time my Doctor told me, "Well, Joel, it's likely indigestion...but it could be colon cancer."
  13. I don't think you're advocating this anger on the part of Brewers fans, but I'm not sure why they would/should be. It's not like ole Sheeter's wanting to be injured--he's clearly a competitor. Feeling frustrated, that I can well understand--I'm frustrated now. (I do suppose it could be argued that after two--let's hope not three--injury-plagued seasons after his extension that Big Ben "owes" it to the Brewers to take a fair offer based upon his actual output and innings pitched and not mostly his potential...however, given that he's a family man and that it's possibly his last big payday I wouldn't fault him for going for a considerably larger paycheck than what the Brewers were offering--emphasis on the word considerably.)
  14. Well, to me, there's a difference between "soreness" and "injured" or even "hurt." I mean, I'm probably just being petty here of course, but we don't indeed actually know that Big Ben is "injured" yet (Oh please God no....).
  15. The crazy thing is, I saw him do it at Wrigley in 2000 and 2006 and they ate it up with a spoon--they loved him. When i pointed this out to my Cubs fan friends' last year, they told me "Whatever, man...this is a pennant race!" Great bravado guys...you really laid the blocks to that septuagenarian ambassador of the game.
  16. I know what direction the press is taking this in, regardless of what it actually may be. Yahoo header: "Brewers' Sheets wins, but leaves injured" ESPN header: "Sheets' hurt arm forces him to leave after 5th inning in Brewers' win" Man, it sounds like he need freaking Tommy John surgery going by these. I suppose his reputation has been well-earned though, and I guess you can't fault them for jumping to conclusions.
  17. Looks on Gameday like he CRUSHED that Closin' time here at work, jumping on the train and planting myself on the couch for the rest of this one
  18. I like Counsell in the leadoff spot for now
  19. They should just play a recording of Harry Carray doing it...I mean, we all have our dumb fun traditions (Sausage Race, anyone? Bernie's slide, Roll Out the Barrel?) but the stretch has gotten ridiculous there. When the booed Ueck last year, grrrr....
  20. Whether it's 1 or 100 balls, it's silly at best, stupid most often, and dangerous at worst, and I hate seeing fans at other parks (ESPECIALLY fans at MP) take up this ridiculous Wrigley tradition.
  21. Just checked these out for the first time and immediately bought a Zing Boom Tarrarel shirt. Pretty sweet designs, guys.
  22. I'm pretty fascinated by how far those vibrations traveled with all that flat land in the Midwest. We had a 5.4 with an epicenter about 40 miles south of here in San Francisco last Fall but only some parts of the Bay Area felt it and nothing past Modesto or Carmel because of all the hills and mountains. This one was smaller and people were feeling it hundreds of miles away.
  23. I know I shouldn't let this bother me at all but it's like a fly buzzing around.... This week's ranking has the Brewers at #6, still sitting a few places behind two teams they won road series against and have the same or better records as. Humbug!
  24. I guess I'm confused why his friend would make something like that up. On an Official level, the Brewers and Sarasota have every reason to keep mum.
