  1. I didn't get Sheets-Santana here in SF...incredibly irritating. If they're not gonna show a particular game as the "national" game in your viewing area, you should be able to watch that game's feed (from Fox or the locals or whatever) on Extra Innings. MLB needs to work that into their next TV contract.
  2. Just a heads-up that the price went up already--$199 now. Better get it now before it goes up even more!
  3. If your kid loves the swimming pool, he'll love the Gulf of Mexico. Plenty of swimming pools in Florida as well. If the Brewers were thinking about moving to Miami Beach or Panama City Beach, I'd be a little more concerned about throngs of drunken college-students. As it stands, you're much more likely to see those throngs at Miller Park. Sarasota and Vero Beach simply aren't huge destinations for college Spring-Breakers.
  4. Well, while we're calling names, to me, Phoenix is a dull, ugly sprawl that I would rather avoid. I'm sure the Brewers are taking note.
  5. There were 0 total rainouts for all teams in 2006 in the Grapefruit League. Most teams each year get one or no rainouts.
  6. I'll be TIVOing some games, depending on their importance to me or if I know I won't be able to see any of it (I'm like my Grandpa though--he tapes Packers games because watching it live nearly gives him a heart attack and only watches if they win!). During the week (M-F) I just deal with the "early" start times...I've noticed that for 5 o'clock start times I usually can get home in time for the third inning, which is acceptable for me--it'd be the same even if I was on the internet/audio. 4 o'clock (PST) starts out East are harder during the week but I can still get home by 5:45 and catch the later innings. I'm looking forward to the Brewers starting to play more of their Saturday night games at MP though to avoid the Fox blackout. Obviously their San Diego/Colorado/Arizona series are ideal for me in terms of TV (I'll be at the games in SF and LA), and weekday series in the EST are the worst. But I'll get by--I bought the package knowing I wouldn't necessarily be able to catch every inning of every game.
  7. I finally ponied up this year...I got sick of "watching" the games via a combo of Gameday, the IGT (!), and Gameday audio. I still use the audio at work ($15 is a steal) and it's hard to top Ueck, but nothing beats actually seeing the games. It's a God-send for those of us outside FSN Wisconsin's market. Getting all of the other games is just icing on the cake.
  8. This "Five to six hours drive to see a game" or even "3 to 4 hours to drive to see a game" concept has been debunked time and again in this thread. If you want to see an afternoon game and an evening game (I'm not sure how many more games you can squeeze in), you can do so easily in Florida with no more than anywhere from 1/2 hour drive to an hour and a half, whether they're in Sarasota or Vero Beach.
  9. Man oh man I'm putting vacation aside for Spring 2010 as we speak. Mojitos on the beach in the morning, Brewers' baseball in the afternoon, paella at the Columbia in the evening. Please let this happen.
  10. C'mon Phils, sweep these jokers in dramatic fashion Go Giants, too!

  12. C'mon Phils, sweep these jokers in dramatic fashion Go Giants, too!
  13. How did the Brewers win this one? PHEW!
  14. That assessment is pretty much right on. Except things often end with flurry of curse words rather than a "phew". Yeah, I was about to say: the converse is that he does often, indeed, hit that wall.
  15. This last page or two was priceless....watching Ned manage sometimes must be like watching your teenage kid learn to drive from a distance--"Oh my God, she's gonna hit that wall, look out for that wall, what ON EARTH is she DOING?!?!?! Oh-my-God-Oh-my-God-Oh-my-God!!!!!!!!!.........Phew."
  16. These DPs have all seem to come at crucial times, too
  17. Well, we're getting into that "hold on to your hat" portion of the game...
  18. Yeah, you're right...I dozed off for a few there
  19. Three DPs today...that's a big storyline
  20. 10 AM for me...this game has been like putting in a shift at work. Something tells me we've got an hour to go.
  21. This seemed like a great inning to manufacture another run or two...I'm worried we'll need it
  22. I laughed and agree with this, but I do believe it's unfair to blame Ned for stuff that didn't happen. That said, with an Angel Pagan leadoff double and a follow-up Castillo single I have no idea how 1) Suppan finished that inning and 2) the Mets didn't score. This game is pretty bitterly entertaining.
