  1. I don't know where else to tell this story, but it reminded me of this thread. Monday night at an event for work, I was introduced by my boss. In his intro, he mentioned that I was a big Brewers' fan, since it's a bit of my identity at work (I've got framed Pollard Portraits posters of some of the 80s teams on my office wall) and a bit of a rarity in California. Anyway, after the event was over, I was approached by a guy I know through work, and he says to me, "Hey, I didn't know you were a Brewers' fan...a really good friend of mine that I played ball with in college was a player with the Brewers!" "Oh, really?!?," I ask excitedly. "Who?!?" "Jeffrey Hammonds!" Oh man, all I could do was just smile and nod and say, "Oh...cool."
  2. I'm less concerned about him getting his 40 saves and more concerned about him avoiding double-digit blown saves. Sometimes he's looked great, sometimes he's looked great just after looking terrible in the same inning. I still have some confidence, but I wish my stomach didn't drop every time I see him toeing the rubber in the 9th
  3. I love ole Jenks, but I hope he goes 0-4 with two strikeouts tomorrow.
  4. Scoring the winning run today? I'll take that as a parting gift. Oh, that little thing. No, I meant Butler.
  5. Unfortunately the parting gift doesn't sound so nice right now.
  6. Save the home opener, it always seems like the Crew takes the scenic route--scenic like driving through Gary and Hmmond, IN After this one I feel like the space battle scene in Return of the Jedi, where all the rebels are going nuts when they shoot down the Imperial Destroyer but Admiral Ackbar just slumps into his chair, exhausted and relieved[/NERRRRDS!]
  7. JUNGLE KARMA!!!!
  8. Looked on Gameday like we lucked out with that Ball Three there, but I'll take it
  9. I don't think he deserves all of the fate he has had thus far, but yes 4 BS in april is not what I hoped for. And how many of those games have we lost? Why would that matter? Did Extra Innings Eric hit the walkoff the very next inning?
  10. Ring 'em up for Big Red Is the roof still closed? I see it's up to 67 degrees, it's gotta be a greenhouse in there right now
  11. I think it has been well established that that pitch should have never even taken place because he should have been rung up on the 2-2 ptich. But obviously that would be the one pitch he would want back. He showed great resolve and I can't blame him if he was a little let down by the ump missing that call Gorman I swear were a couple of the only Gagne supporters on this board. Four blown saves in mid-April, imnagine that
  12. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I would surely disagree that he lacked control. It looked like he put every pitch just abour right where he wanted it... On Izturis' wrist?
  13. OK, fellas, let's end this and count our blessings
  14. That was on Suppan, not Ned--we just needed a sac bunt, a starting pitcher in the NL should be able to do that
  15. Well, we just have to get the walkoff here. How about it, Prince: first pitch.
  16. I admit that I posted before I realized the error, but putting two on with no outs in a one-run game tends to invite disaster
  17. OK, Gagne apologists, what is it THIS time? Nerves? "Just one bad pitch"? Ned? Steamed-up goggles?
  18. OK, I knew he hit him...I just assumed it was Gagne who was injured Oh man Oh man Oh man
  19. OK, well, I for one would really appreciate an insurance run or five before our Canadian friend steps up to the rubber
