  1. I can't or at least won't treat this as a microcosm of anything. For my well-being.
  2. I can't or at least won't treat this as a microcosm of anything. For my well-being.
  3. In a solemn ceremony, I nested my Prince nesting doll today, as I had JJ Hardy and Bill Hall before him. Thankfully Rickie was the biggest in my set
  4. I'm not popping any bubbly about it but I think it's a decent signing at these crossroads if that rumored money is right. A-Ram's HR-watching never bothered me (Braun does it too, and if anything, I disliked A-Ram from the time he charged the mound as a Pirate against Big Ben) as much as the daggers he's seemingly shoved into the Crew's chest over the years. At the least a classic Brewer Killer can't nail us for a few years.
  5. Great couple of months for the ole Brew Crew--I'm sure Prince will be a Cub by the end of the week, too. What's the payoff here again? Why do I care about this team and these guys? Because I have since childhood? I stopped playing with GI Joes a few decades ago, too.
  6. I'm embarrassed by how happy this signing makes me, but thus the power of YuniB
  7. I know I stand alone here (and maybe everywhere), but I actually really like the new Miami scheme/uniforms (not a huge fan of the home alternate oranges but I don't think they're as horrific as stated at the least).
  8. So YuniB is almost certainly coming back then?
  9. Doubtful; he's brought them two World Series titles and another NL pennant, not to mention his multiple MVPs. If anything, Prince=LeBron is the better analogy. Our guy's going to go get paid in a bigger market after not winning much of anything here (relative to our history two playoff appearances are something, of course, but still).
  10. 1. No it's really not; it's just as arbitrary, perhaps more so.2. Well, the "regardless of league" thing is what's problematic, right? The NBA and NHL can do it because they have expanded inter-conference play. If and when MLB does this (and it sounds like it could happen as early as next year), then it makes more sense. Of course even then it's not totally perfect because you're dealing with divisional matchups that help skew the records, etc etc.
  11. Agreed. NO wild card winner should ever have the privilege of having a home field advantage in the World Series. Nice rule you included into the All Star Game, Bud Selig. Whether a Wild Card winner should be able to have home field in a World Series is another question, but you do realize that if Bud had never instituted the All-Star home field advantage rule and they'd stuck with the just-as-random alternating-year rule that had been in place prior that St. Louis would still have home field advantage, right? Anyway, it's hard for me to like Motte as he was the one who did TLR's evil bidding and plunked Braun
  12. Oh, and right or wrong, Prince is leaving. The dull malaise of the early Oughts looks pretty good at this moment.
  13. This is pretty much my opinion as well; I mainly despise the hypocrisy.
  14. Heh. Unfortunately I'm near certain the Cards will win tonight and continue to be a succesful, hypocritical, priggish franchise for years and decades to come. Why? Because there is no peace and justice in this world.
  15. You're basing this on what? And as opposed to the alcohol and steroids issues that have surrounded TLR's clubhouses like a lingering infection?
  16. Yeah, my wife asked at a certain point what the score was, and I tell her 11-6 in the 5th and she responds, "Well, they could still come back" but I didn't get that impression whatsoever from them--they really did look deflated. And I hated how Prince acknowledged Pujols calling the OT during what turned out to be his final AB--it was indeed a classy (yep, sorry) gesture from Albert, but I hated the feeling I got from Pince by that acknowledgment that, yeah, it's all over but the shouting. But who am I, Freud? Fairly sure they didn't lose just because they didn't want it enough.
  17. I mostly disagree despite going out to a team they were better than over the course of the season--I do think the LDS needs to be a 7 game series.
  18. As a Packers-supportive non-Packers fan (if that made sense), I thought it was ridiculous and over-the-top when Rodgers would do it because it indicated an achievment that obviously hadn't occurred. It was funny but jeez. Anyway, I agree that the Beast Mode was a fun organic thing that showed team cohesion and support, but I didn't really like how it became the team's identity (despite all the cute kids in Beast costumes) down the stretch. There'll be something new next year.
  19. Let's get in the driver's seat, Brew Crew--you earned it this season.
  20. A win tomorrow and this team will have won more games than any other Brewer team ever. But more importantly... Come. On. Zack.
  21. I finally feel safe posting in this thread. Bravo Mr. Wolf. Bravo. Huge huge win.
