  1. The bad news? Jason Kendall is due up third in the 9th.
  2. Well, this has been one frustrating inning after another tonight
  3. Sure would be nice to see the Big Meat of the order produce here
  4. Man, that was probably the best Coffey's looked all season, even in SF
  5. Uh oh, I always get nervous when these guys who've turned it around with us face their old team
  6. Fantastic timing for Kendall to go back to being Kendall
  7. Another nice inning from DiFelice...that double was just really fluky, I thought
  8. Idiot Brewer fans doing the wave right behind the batter in a crucial moment of the game
  9. Wow, now something like that wild Dickerson ricochet makes me think the fates really are stacked against the Brew Crew right now.
  10. I fully expected Prince to strike out there with a man on and two outs, two strikes, so getting some good wood on the ball gives me hope he can take Coco deep for the walkoff win a bit later
  11. This Prince Boys and Girls Club commercial with him telling the kid who's upset by his performance "Yeah, but you and your teammates never gave up when you were down and the going got tough. That's much more important." always makes me wish he'd just come right out and call the kid a "gritty battler."
  12. Same here, him and Corey both tonight. Hopefully Braun can do the same. (Yes, I made the deadly fantasy sin of stocking my team with Brewers) Anyway, I don't know if Volzquez' chuckling there as JJ rounds the bases is a sign of cockiness or just a wry sense of humor...I'm apt to believe the latter.
  13. I also still figure that this wild one's far from over, so I'm not totally upset yet about anything over than I have the Reds' feed so I missed this awkward Tweedy interview.
  14. Only that Hart rocket seemed to be the fates, Prince and Braun have been lackluster the last few days. Disappointing that the heart of our order couldn't bring one lousy run home with no outs and bases loaded. Between that and Yo's meltdown, this has been a maddening game (heck, a maddening 24 hours with the Brew Crew).
  15. That Reds' lineup looks a lot different without Junior and Dunn in it.
  16. That's good to know...when we lived in Chicago and were going to MP often, we always ended up headed towards' Gorman's Grill because of the "soysages" there.
  17. Thanks for the offer, Gorman Harvey, but chuckiehacks very kindly is sending oen my way. brewerfan.netters are the best.
  18. Hopefully we can get one back tonight...the frustrating thing about Saturday's loss is that we went from 3-2 to 2-3 in one swing of the bat, and now it'll be tough to get over .500 before we have to face the beasts of the NL East on the road this weekend. That said, it's going to be nice to get into the swing of the season starting tonight.
  19. Sad news, I always liked him on NFL Films and came to appreciate his Phillies' work with Extra Innings the last couple years. Had no idea he was that old. Gotta hold fast to guys like Scully and Ueck while we still have them around.
  20. We're only going to get to one game at MP this year, but I'm still glad to see there are more vegetarian options there now for my wife. Stalk or florets, she'll take it. I'm glad to see that the numbers skewed towards more Brewers' fans...on TV it looked like a majority of Cubs fans based on the shots. Even the pan-and-scans of the crowd looked like there were more Cubs' fans. Like the bad old days of '02, '03, '04.
  21. Well, to be fair, I was laughing too, albeit somewhat bitterly. Then again, I was alone in our back room, 2000+ miles away. If I had been in the presence of cackling Cubs fans while witnessing either today's 4th inning meltdown (or even Johnson's catch) or yesterday's Soriano homer, there wouldn't have been enough serenity prayers in the world to keep my blood pressure down. Brewer fans who actually man up and support their team at Miller Park during these series, through the good and the bad, rather than abandoning our park to the barbarian Illi-nnoying horde, or worse, selling out to them, deserve a medal.
  22. NOOOOOOOOO! Does anybody happen to know if he used the word "gritty" as well?
  23. I have to disagree that neither Hall nor Rivera were better options than Kendall for that at-bat tonight in the 9th down by 4 to the Cubs. I have to assume maybe it was a show of respect to the veteran (that he had some documented problems with in Oakland), but Yost used to get raked over the coals for his loyalty to a fault. It's early...we'll see how it goes. I'm not sure a lot of the concerns we're gonna have this year will be Macha's to create or solve. He does have to make the most of what he's got, however. We'll see.
  24. I don't want to second guess every little thing he's done, but I thought he made some bizarre choices to not pinch-hit tonight: Julio (we were playing from behind--I know it was 2 outs and there was no one on base, but some kind of offensive spark would've been nice. Julio didn't look as bad the next inning but he was pretty crummy himself beforehand) and Kendall to lead off the 9th (I know Kendall is the vet, but we really needed that spark again there and Kendall is clearly barren right now). I can't say I'm a fan with how he's handled Suppan: I don't like the way he started the rotation this year, and I think he left him in a batter too long tonight, at least. Overall, I like what he's done so far though--the aggression on the bases, and the improved infield defense (knock on wood), etc : his bench coach also seems to have really been a big help to Rickie.
  25. True. So it would've made all the more sense for Macha to line them up Yo-Parra-Looper...if the idea is to "sacrifice" a game for better matchups, well, it's worked so far. Kind of. Oh, it's about "pressure"? Well, good job there, too. Yo probably really enjoyed chilling out this weekend.
