I'd love to see Dennis "The Cleveland Fan" Nosco's head explode upon receiving the news that the Wahoos are indeed getting Zach Jack and not Yo Gallardo in this deal.
I for one appreciate when people use scientific methods to prove some roundabout point, but that's just me. I think he was merely cautioning people from printing playoff tickets. I think the move is huge (and I suspect Russ does too), and puts the Crew in a fantastic position, but we should also keep an eye firmly on reality.
They've been polishing the 2008 Division title over there for a while. The general reaction have been some affected "yawns" but I know they can't be happy about the idea of facing a Sheets-Sabathia-Parra rotation in any kind of potential playoffs regardless of who takes the division.
I'll feel a lot better once this is announced officially...TH seems to be leading the charge on this. The Cleveland Plain Dealer expects the deal "to be done as soon as Monday."
And it's completely possible that they will, as they did last year. Add in Sabathia to a possible playoff rotation and two draft picks (plus the fact that Gamel and Escobar are still Stars) and I'm more than OK with this.
The time is right for this deal. LaPorta could be a great, the Brewers could fail to muster the required charge, but regardless, I won't regret that this organization in this position made this deal. Welcome C.C.
It's a beautiful day in Brewer land...I think we all knew this was coming but I'm frustrated we still can't get the blood and guts of this one from TH...I really am curious/nervous about the third prospect
Interesting that Cain's not going, although I'm heartened to hear it reiterated (again) that Gamel and Escobar will still be around. Ten-yard line? Seems like it's 1st and goal at the one.
I will weep no tears for LaPorta, regardless of how he performs for Cleveland and regardless of how the Brewers season turns out. This team has a great opportunity ahead of it and I'm glad the management isn't gnashing its teeth about an amorphous future. We've been waiting for this future for a long time.
Of course, it's possible that TH doesn't want to be scooped. That said, I agree that an uncomfirmed blog report (he couldn't even name the other two prospects), even from the Indians beat writer, isn't what we need to hear.
I have to admit, that Rolen in a Brewers uni avatar is always a good reminder to not get too excited! When I saw someone changed their avatar to Sabathia in a Brewers uni I thought it was a bad omen!
What Sabathia update? An unconfirmed rumor on a blog? I mean, I think it's going down but it still seems like a lot of the same until there's official confirmed word.
