  1. So what? He said in the press he sincerely appreciated the opportunity he was given here by the team to resuccitate his career and he seemed to enjoy himself while he was here (running the sausage race, etc). The team wasn't going to nor should have paid him what his market price was going to be after the job he did here. Are you going to be chapped with CC when he splits?
  2. Taxes are much lower on the Northshore and home value is much higher
  3. He was an entertaining pitcher to watch, even when he was bad...what a crazy stretch. I'll never forget seeing him rounding third and getting nailed at home at a game against the Royals in County Stadium in '99.
  4. No one--no one!--seems to think he had "the flu" here. Bizarre.
  5. They did get massive subsidies, and then consider most of the employees themselves will probably move to the Northshore, where they'll be in a better situation, taxwise, than living in town.
  6. I'd assume the 150 jobs lost are some of the higher-paying in the city, which will have ripples elesewhere. I do agree it's more devastating in terms of identity, however.
  7. Oh well, the Rock Island line She's a mighty good road Rock Island line is the road to ride Ya, the Rock Island line Is a mighty good road And if you want to ride You gotta ride it Like you find it Get your ticket at the station On the Rock Island line Well, I may be right I may be wrong I know you're gonna miss me when I'm gone
  8. I'm a little surprised I haven't seen anything about this posted here. Gruesome news on a number of levels.
  9. Way to break up the DP, Tejada Pete Rose weeps (Probably because he bet $4K on the NL)
  10. I was worried about Wilson... Hope he proves me wrong
  11. Hopefully we'll see both Brewers hit this inning
  12. You forgot to add in the go-ahead jack Corey's gonna hit later tonight
  13. Leaving Braunie in LF after his two ABs? This can only lead to embarrassment.
  14. Come on, forty-some pitches on his regular day isn't gonna kill the guy. Regardless, I can't recall seeing him pitch so slowly and inefficiently, either. Man, now I really wish Sheets had pitched against the Red Sox in Boston, those were the only dudes he got out that inning
  15. Blech, Braunie looked a little too amped to drive one in there
  16. That's what I was wondering earlier, but if it's brown-bottle flu and not the other variety than he'll probably be ready to go. Heck, even if he really is sick now, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go on Sunday. Gives him about five days of rest and top-notch care, and a 80% Lincecum is still much better than most, unfortunately for us. As a somewhat amusing aside, apparently him and Wilson went to O'Hare the other day when their flight to New York was actually leaving from Midway. They missed their flight, of course, and ended up taking a coach flight out there later that night. They say some of these guys are just lost without a traveling secretary taking them by the hand!
  17. Ahaha, that's cracked, I assumed you did that on your own, ccbrew
  18. Lou Collier I loved Lou (inexplicably), but I can only imagine how sparse that particular presser was
  19. That's awesome, I went to the one they had here in SF last year and the players were similarly talkative (well, J.J. and Big Ben at least) and in good spirits. Were they throwing stuff again this year? I got a ball from J.J. and a shirt from Ben's wife!
  20. KNBR in San Francisco reporting. Shame he won't get to pitch tonight, I think he might've been most deserving to start, even more then Volzquez. Obviously I hope he gets well, and soon, but I have to admit I wouldn't mind if it pushes his Sunday start back a day and we see Zito instead. Edit: Here's a link.
  21. Wow, those are awesome. Great work, I'm going to put in orders for all three so I can wear them to the Dodgers series down in LA this August.
  22. Why is that hard to believe? If I was a pitcher who dropped 400 foot bombs I'd want to swing it too Because the guy made it seem like that was priority #1. I understand him wanting to bat but I'd assume (and hope, really) that before the chance to bat he'd be looking for the best fit financially and competitively and in the community for him and his family.

  24. Slate's wiped clean in the final round I thought
  25. The real ones have the Brewers.com logo on the front, and if they show a photo of the back, it should say VOTE BREWERS! with the Brewers.com logo again. I'd still love one if anyone has a spare one they can get me before this weekend, by the way...I can work something out
