  1. I say this as kindly as possible: you need to get out more.
  2. I love the Twin Cities, and I love Minnesota, but the comments were pretty ill-informed
  3. It's happened a few times Anyway, Sciosia made the right decision given the Angels' offense, I believe, but poor Weaver looked like a little leaguer about to sputter raging hot tears as he headed to the clubhouse I love the NL game
  4. One of the Twins announcers made some comment in the 9th tonight about how "There aren't as many Brewers fans here as there were Twins fans in Milwaukee, of course," and I'm thinking, Sell out your park in your much larger market with more sustained winning before making digs, joker.
  5. I'm sure they're saying the same thing about Torres and Kapler and Kendall
  6. 5-5 the last ten games and now they hit the road to the South Side and Out West Hopefully this is the return to mean, but I still like our chances in a playoff series with them regardless
  7. I lived about a mile from the Trop in the summers of '99 and '00 and I went all the time: $5 tickets and ice-cold AC!
  8. Are you inferring that the poor Rocky Fellers are entertaining Beelzebub these days?
  9. The support is there for a new stadium in the next several years provided that doesn't put a massive burden on the public; it just seems that most wanted to see it not on the waterfront (either up in the Toytown area or at the Trop's current site) and with a retractable rather than the open-air sail-canvas I went to see the Rays-Marlins game a couple Saturday nights ago, and I have to say that after having attended literally dozens of Rays games where the attendance was south of 12,000 if lucky (and a handful where it was north of that), it's a completely different ballpark when there are 35,000 people actually there...and they're cheering on the Rays! The amenities there are fine, and the sightlines as well. The problem is the place is an absolute mausoleum when no-one is there....truly depressing and I think that's a reason why a lot of people there went once a year if that. I'm glad they're finally taking advantage of the weirdness of the space: using cowbells and noisemakers, putting lights up on the darned catwalks (that's an older "improvement" but still). The main thing though is to have fans there, and they have that now, and I think some sustained winning will finally allow the area to blossom into the strong market I know it can be.
  10. The Rays trashed their stadium plan this week, by the way. They may well get a new park in the next 5-10 years but any attempt to get it on the ballot this November is dead and I'd be surprised if it were a) on the waterfront and b) with that cool "sail" design I was just down in St. Pete last weekend visiting my old stomping grounds and the locals weren't too fond of either idea
  11. Don't forget they pulled a half-game away from Florida, too! Add in my secret life as a Rays "interested observer," and it was a really good baseball day for me considering the Brewers had the day off after a day-game loss.
  12. I can't be the only one who keeps expecting to see the Cubs storming back, even at 11-0! Go O's, Go Tigers!
  13. Remember, friends: it's "down the road", not "across the street" I always thought of myself as a cynic and a bit of a pessimist until I came to brewerfan.net
  14. Alright, with this laugh I shake the loss off and concentrate on the rest of Germany-Turkey. Stinks, but what can you do...the Brewers really should've lost this one by a lot more than two runs.
  15. Normally in a 23-11 stretch, this would just be frustrating as an example of the Brewers' continued impotence in the face of potential road-sweeps, but this really stinks since you know the Cubs aren't gonna lose another one at home to the Orioles.
  16. Phew, that's a second Near-Yosting averted today Playing with fire is kinda fun at times, right?
  17. Lil' Bridge must've heard us talking about him
  18. He's been clutch at other points in the season I'd rather have not seen Kapler go on the first pitch prior to Rickie's triple
  19. Never thought I'd say this but "At least we won't have to see Jorge Campillo again this year." Edit: Oops! We play the Braves again in August!
  20. 9 more outs, two runs down, I believe this is do-able.
  21. I noticed that the other day myself; he's a wee one Anyway, what a pathetic offensive effort there by the Crew...I hate to get even the impression that they ease back in certain situations
  22. Well I'll eat my hat! Jeepers though...
