Ah yes … you are correct … it was Antoine Kelly
I still stand by my belief in Bush as adding more value in the next few years
i “like” Kelly but I don’t love him … I’m not sure he will ever be a quality big league pitcher - too erratic (walks too many like Small)
I’m aware that his first two outings have been suboptimal, but I live in DFW & have watched him pitch for the Rangers over the last few years - he is a quality bullpen arm who will add value to this year’s team as well as the next few years IF he can remain healthy
I like this addition & come end of season, I believe Brewers fans will agree that he was worthy of our 8th ranked minor league OF & a journeyman AAAA utility player
I wholehearted agree
IF Frelick continues to play well in Nashville this month, I’d love to see him added to the big league roster in late August so he is eligible for playoff consideration … assuming we actually make the playoffs - which is certainly not a given
I hope someone in upper management is “brave” enough to DFA Suter once a few injured & rehabbing middle relief pitchers return to the roster
I would consider several players worthy of a 26-man (13 pitcher) roster spot over Suter: Houser, Cousins, (potentially) Topa
Who else am I missing?
I’m glad to keep Severino in our minor league system as a potential “bat” & backup catcher for 2023
His story is quite sad - the 80-game ban & inability to join us if we make the playoffs
Hopefully, he will rake next year
I was disappointed in the Lamet DFA … but not sure he could add any value this year - especially with his injury history
I’m delighted Colorado took his salary
Only time will tell - 2023 & 2024 - if Ruiz & Gasser pan out & this becomes another Stearns “magic” trade with San Diego
I remember when early on the Grisham & Davies for Urius & Lauer trade was considered lopsided for San Diego
I believe that was a GREAT trade for the Brewers & will only get better in the next few years
Here’s hoping the same will one day be said for the most recent trade
As of today, there are 57 games remaining in the 2022 season
MLW & STL are tied with identical 57-48 records
In essence, we have a 57-game season ahead to determine the NL Central champion
It appears that STL has the “easier” schedule
Neither team is that good - both have major holes
STL addressed their pitching shortage by adding two quality starters to offset their injuries
MLW potentially strengthens their bullpen - which was particularly weak in the middle innings
MLW also traded away one of the top closers in MLB - but received a good one in return
STL has a better offense - MLW likely has the better pitching staff
I believe the key to who wins the division will be defense - a supposed strength for MLW that has been “less than that” YTD
Like others on this forum - I’m frustrated with the lackluster play of the Brewers - especially since the trade deadline
As an avid fan - addict - here’s hoping they hit reset & start playing to their potential in these final two months of what has been a disappointing season thus far
I’d rather see Reetz called up
Hopefully, someone on the 40-man will be DFA’d & he will be added
His bat has been much stronger this year … even if that was primarily in AA Biloxi
It would be awesome if Reetz becomes the “bat” the Brewers should have acquired at the trade deadline
Certainly not a good team ... mediocre, bland, average, vanilla, 81-81 ... terrible division ... one great week following the All-Star break among two pretty bad months ... not a playoff team
And please - all Brewers apologists - spare me the “its a long season” or “its just one series” … this team is missing spunk & has lost countless winnable games to inferior opponents
I’m thrilled to be unable (due to work) to watch the mediocre Brew Crew today
I truly need a break from this underperforming, low energy, bland team that may soon be in 2nd place in the NL Central
I will just pull for the Brewers or - if we get beat - whoever takes the American League
I don’t like the Padres taking three top bats - Sosa was fine … Bell or Drury would have been nice in Milwaukee
As I mentioned at the beginning of my rant … I am referring specifically to this 2022 team as being frustrating to watch
Yes, of course, I’m always disappointed in the playoffs when the Brewers & Packers bow out … but no recent team has been as difficult to cheer for as this team
Like so many on this forum, I’ve watch thousands of Brewers games over the last 50 years
This 2022 team - except on rare occasions - is hard to watch & isn’t very good
I believe their record & standing is misleading
Only in the horrid NL Central are they a potential playoff team
I’m not sure they could win the AL Central - which is almost as bad
And … they may finish behind Baltimore in the AL East
I’m glad Packers Training Camp is underway
I’m an avid baseball fan - I also love football … I need a change
The Packers seldom frustrate me like this Brewers team
