I’d rather stand pat than spend top prospects on rentals
I’m only interested in a trade that would net a power bat that has three years before free agency
Thus, all things considered, I would prefer to stand pat
His highs & lows are so extreme
He’s been excellent this year but I honestly won’t miss him when he’s gone
I prefer our young pitchers with less talent but more consistency
I’m aware we are playing the world champion Dodgers, but the walk to open the bottom of the 3rd inning - followed by a batting practice pitch to Ohtani - followed by his inability to gather himself - is far too familiar
I may be one of the more ardent Ortiz fans on this forum. I love his glove. I like his bat (at least the 2024 version). I predicted he would be “much improved” in the middle 54 games of the season. He improved for a bit but has regressed over the last few weeks. I didn’t like the way Murphy publicly ridiculed him. Neto is likely not available as an upgrade for Ortiz, so I would be thrilled if he gets red hot & we get to keep our prospects. My hope is we don’t trade for a third baseman. I’m not excited about McMahon OR Suarez. I love Durbin & would like to continue with the current crew. The one exception would be adding O’Hearn or another option at first base.
Monasterio is a significant step down defensively … at least via the eye test - not sure of analytics.
I hope O’Hearn is an option at the deadline for 1B.
Adding Neto at SS would be worth a top prospect because he has a few years left before free agency.
