  1. You're really reaching here. How exactly? You're up 2-0 with a guy throwing well, not great, but well, with 1 out, and you advance the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Your best hitter ends up batting with the bases loaded. Or going with Strickland? I don't get it. There was not some egregiously bad managerial call in this inning. [sarcasm]Counsell never told Lauer not to walk and hit the 7 and 8 hole hitter![/sarcasm]
  2. This is when I think long and hard about going to Burnes...need to cover 12 outs to get to Josh, don't think Ashby gets you there and really don't want to show them Boxberger for the third straight game
  3. The plan going into the inning wasn't to pull Lauer after 2...just how the inning developed. If you fail to recognize the circumstances in the moment when the decision was made, and then how those circumstances can later change and require a new move, then you're going to constantly be baffled by baseball managers decisions. Can't be so naïve
  4. That actually hit dirt - last slo-mo replay showed it. Not sure why it wouldn't be reviewable though
  5. Is it possible the edge of his glove popped that back up and it didn't actually hit dirt? or is that just an awful call and another replay blunder?
  6. If the Brewers would have scored before Peralta came up to bat he would have stayed in but they didn't so had to pull him to try and get some offense. Yep - and if the Brewers hadn't scored yet there, I think Lauer gets hit for.
  7. Yup, that would've been the rare time where a 4th out in an inning would've been possible. I'm following everything up until the appeal portion. What is this?
  8. This series is squarely on the players. They can't hit the ball and it hasn't really mattered who it is. Agreed with OSS. If Rowdy had the chance to strike out third in the first inning instead of fifth would that have made you happier? Lineup construction has nothing to do with guys not hitting pitches.
  9. Let's not act like the Braves offense has been much better. Sure they have had a few more baserunners but their ability to push runs across has been pretty reliant on the homerun ball
  10. Duvall might be our highest WAR position player this series considering the runs he has saved us with his baserunning lol
  11. I sure would be. I think Yelich's mental toughness is a lot stronger than most on this board...at least based on so many of these IGT posts
  12. Atta boy Lauer!! First inning is the toughest especially after his layoff. Expecting him to settle in now
  13. Agreed, I don't like Yelich in the 3 hole given his lack of power this year. Wish him and Adames were flipped. Yelich in the 1 or 2 spot would be better. Have a feeling you're wishing he was hitting 8th though...
  14. Approaches from Yelich and Tellez that inning were awful. Garcia's approach was at least better but he just isn't squaring up pitches he spent most of the year hitting...unfortunate time to be in a funk
  15. Pretty terrible AB Yelich...should've just been sitting fastball the whole way, he isn't throwing the curve for strikes
  16. It has been beaten to death yesterday, Yelich isn't playing close to his MVP level, but he has actually been one of the top producers in the lineup this series. If you are willing to start Escobar only because you traded for him, then you are certainly going to start Yelich if for no other reason, because you paid him a massive contract and he has an MVP caliber history.
  17. I trust the decision to start Lauer, but think Burnes should still be available out of the pen. Don't use him if you don't have to but if you need to bridge to get to Hader, I would rather see him before you have Boxberger throw a third straight game. I also think Counsell shouldn't reserve Hader for the 9th but should turn to him at whatever moment Atlanta is poising their biggest threat, assuming we're in the middle innings and beyond. If Lauer gets into trouble in one of the middle innings, I wouldn't be afraid to turn to Josh to get out of it and assuming he does, would like to see them then use Burnes to try to get to the distance. In years past, Counsell has been creative with his use of the pen and I'm hoping if the situation is warranted, we see more of that today.
  18. Has anybody seen any stats for pitchers making their second start in a series? Feel like that would be an interesting study - you would think hitters are better suited since they just saw them a few days earlier?
  19. The braves will have Fried in a potential game 5 on regular rest. Beyond Burnes the Brewers could use Woodruff for a potential game 5 as well if needed. Would have to think Peralta could also be available given he only threw 50 pitches yesterday.
  20. The Brewers are already in year four of making the playoffs, year five of being competitive. Most of the key players on the team are under control for the next three years, that brings us out to year seven or eight, so we're about halfway through the decade already. I am with you and have been on board saying that I think the true "go for it" years will be the next two seasons. For me, the biggest reason why an NLDS exit would be tough to swallow this year is the fact that our health (with the exception of Williams) is really good. The last two years, the teams were not as good, but they also weren't healthy come October. No guarantees that health lines up again in the future.
  21. He really is the key to their success. In Brewers wins: .327/.391/.548/.939 In Brewers losses: .203/.263/.320/.583 Would be interested to see what is the teams stat line in wins vs loses? How much of this is actually Wong vs just in general, when you win you likely hit much better than in games you lose?
  22. I have no doubt this team delivers today. They're due for a big game from the offense after some hard contact and unlucky outs yesterday. Then we'll be heading back to Milwaukee for a game 5 with our ace on the mound. In 12 hours we're going to be feeling pretty good about where this team stands.
  23. Shaw v Feyereisen right now with 1 out in 9th. Tie game
