  1. Not gonna lose because of the refs but seems like a few calls going against us….Jones TD called back, no holding on Smith, that first down which was clearly short…
  2. I think MLF has actually been great today, with the exception of inside the 5…. Now the poor play calling inside the 5 may be part Rodgers as well…no idea what he is checking in and out of
  3. Play calling inside the 5 deserves a lot of scrutiny post game EDIT: think Rodgers pulled that himself
  4. Where is Dillon right now for goal line carries
  5. Think a lot of the timeouts are due to having guys playing that aren’t normally out there…has to take longer calling plays and making sure everybody is lined up right
  6. See I don't buy those as being valid excuses for the Packers to get handled tonight. Cards are dealing with all those same things besides the long flight - which in todays world with chartered flights has to be a pretty stress-free and comfortable experience. Packers are playing a good team on the road. Time to show what they are made of. If they get blown out, I won't feel good pointing at the above as the reason for why
  7. I'm actually really excited to watch this offense tonight. I thought last year, Rodgers played great, but he was also throwing to guys who were often times wide open due to the scheme. I think with the top 3 WRs down tonight, Lafluer has a great opportunity to creatively use Jones/Dillion and show that while Rodgers is great, he's a pretty damn good offensive guru too.
  8. They're not in any danger of missing the playoffs. I'd be shocked if we didn't win the division. I just don't see any way we can win this game. The defense is going to get steamrolled and the Cardinals will most definitely load the box against our running game. Games like the Pats are the exception the vast majority of the time. I know sitting out Rodgers is not going to happen but this one may get ugly fast and Love will be in sometime during the third quarter. I think you're vastly overrating the Cardinals. They are good no doubt, would be favored at home even if Adams and others were playing, but I would be surprised if the Packers get steamrolled in this game. Lafleur has proven to be too good of an offensive mind to let Adams being out derail the entire group and on top of that, you have Rodgers who has done more in the past with a worse supporting cast. Aside from that, can't think of a faster way to lose a locker room than blatantly punting a game midseason. Sitting Rodgers is comical.
  9. I think a lot of this depends on their health at the end of the season. This defense is showing signs of being better than the D's they have had the past few seasons - if they are able to get the Smith's healthy and Jaire back, it could actually be a top 10 unit and I think that would get them over the hump
  10. Still can't believe Bickford has become a guy trusted enough to pitch in games like this
  11. Who are some names you would consider as a "big hire"? Asking out of curiosity...not very familiar with what the potential candidate pool even looks like
  12. Not surprising, think a move had to be made, but not sure what impact a new coach will actually have. If it were me, interviewing potential candidates would consist almost solely of film review on Yelich and Hiura. Priority 1A for whoever comes in will have to be getting those two right.
  13. To further add - fangraphs review of managers performance during the divisional round. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/managerial-report-cards-national-league-division-series/ Sometimes you can make solid decisions and still get a bad result
  14. Ok, but we can't just sit on that as a way to do business either. I think it's ridiculous to want Counsell gone, but Haines is 100% justifiable. Not getting rid of someone because we might hire someone who isn't any better is a strange way to think imo. If that is the case, the ones doing the hiring need to rethink how they run the show. To clarify - I wasn't intending to offer support for Haines. I am in agreement that a move needs to be made there. I was trying to make the point to those who want Counsell gone that making a move just to make a move has 0 guarantees of yielding success, and in reality there is probably better odds the replacement you bring in will be worse than what you had. Example being a few years ago when a move was warranted i.e. firing Darnell Coles, the replacement they brought in hasn't been any better.
  15. lol what. He's arguably the best manager in MLB. It's impossible to prove who the best manager is, or even who the great ones are. Great or not, sometimes a change at the top is the shock to the system that gets you over the top. That said, I'm not advocating they move on from CC. I would be fine with it. Teams and fans get wrapped up in whether a manager deserves to be fired. Deserve has nothing to do with it. Firing somebody just to make a move is a terrible practice. Counsell is one of the best managers in the game - few, if any, managers have gotten more from their roster, with less talent, then CC has in the last 4 years. His moves in the playoffs didn't work out, that's part of the game, but I don't think his seat is even the slightest bit warm. Easy to feel like the grass is greener on the other side. A lot of people hear advocating for Haines to be let go. Let's not forget the hitting coach before him was Darnell Coles. The replacement isn't always an upgrade to the guy you let go.
  16. I know it was the Bears offense....and I know Fields didn't see a wide open ARob streaking down field....but given the injuries, I actually think the Packers defense played well and I am cautiously optimistic that with some health and a few more games in this system, this unit might actually turn into a pretty solid group. They have done a pretty solid job at limiting big plays and Stokes looks like he can be a solid #2 CB this year. I think that as we hit the stretch run we might look at this team as one of the most complete that Green Bay has had in a while...of course, this is assuming they start to get some health.
  17. Makes sense wearing the home jerseys while playing against the team they own. This ended up aging well lol
  18. The good news is that this positioning conversation is really only relevant if he figures out how to hit again. Brewers will gladly accept a below average fielder, regardless of the position, if he's swinging the bat like he did in 2019. If he's hitting like the past two seasons though it won't matter what position he's playing because it'll be for Nashville or another organization.
  19. I think between Ashby, Small, Lauer, and Houser, somebody will have to get moved this offseason. All have pretty decent value and could be used to bring back some offense. Quite frankly, just not enough room for them all.
  20. Makes sense wearing the home jerseys while playing against the team they own.
  21. There are a lot of industries in the world where someone is criticized for getting a pay raise and doing less work. It's about people positioning themselves in a way to maximize compensation. Also quantity of work doesn't equal value add. Brett Anderson threw 40 more innings than Hader this year - was he more valuable to the team?
  22. I think the writing was on the wall all season that Hader throwing one inning was per the player and agent requesting that. From a team perspective it sucks considering his value throwing multiple innings, but hard to blame him. The system clearly favors saves. Professional sports is the only industry in the world where employees are criticized for putting individual earnings above team success.
  23. Everything we have ever heard about the way the Brewers organization is run suggests that if Stearns really wants to explore the opening with the Mets, then ultimately, the Brewers will let him. It's just bad business, in general, holding an employee hostage or preventing them from other opportunities that they want to pursue. We can only hope that if Stearns is interested, Attanasio is able to compete with the offer and do everything in his power to make Stearns want to stay. If Stearns still decides the Mets opportunity is better for him then that will be a tough pill to swallow but such is business.
  24. I agree - he is going to have a lot of open looks. Expecting a pretty big year from him.
