  1. Lost in the struggles of the Brewers offense is the fact that they have actually hit into quite a bit of bad luck too. In the 5th,Cain's grounder was 101mph with an xba of .400.When Wong was up, his liner was also 101 and xba of .700. Both would've scored at least one, Wong's forsure would've scored 2. In the 8th, Yelich's GIDP was hit at 105 and .440 BA. Just one of those games where you can't buy a break. Couple of those find the grass and it's a different game. We're due for that luck to break. We sneak out with a win tomorrow and we're going to be feeling damn good about ourselves going into a game 5 at home with Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, and Hader on deck.
  2. This isn't accurate at all. 50/50 shot he gets a good enough bunt down based on what? The fact that there are only two outcomes? If that is the case, then there is a 50/50 shot the pinch hitter gets an actual hit to score two, based on the fact that the outcomes are he other does or he doesn't. We all know that's not how it works though. And that doesn't really get into the flawed idea of bunting the pitcher in that scenario, which in and of itself is probably a terrible idea.
  3. Didn't hear postgame interviews - did Counsell say Burnes is unavailable all day? Or just that Burnes wouldn't start?
  4. I don't think he starts but I think he will be available out of the pen for a couple. Probably no more than 45 or so pitches would be my guess but can help bridge to Hader. I'd throw Woody before Burnes tomorrow. It's his side day anyway. That is even shorter rest than Burnes. If anybody is going on short rest it would be Burnes given he would have a full day more...plus have to imagine the Brewers held off on Burnes throwing today knowing elimination was possible tomorrow
  5. I don't think he starts but I think he will be available out of the pen for a couple. Probably no more than 45 or so pitches would be my guess but can help bridge to Hader.
  6. Lauer and Burnes tomorrow. Woodruff and Peralta in Game 5. Offense can't be any worse than it has been. This team is far from done.
  7. Peralta would almost definitely be available for 2-3 innings in a game 5. Would be his scheduled day to throw between starts anyways. Also dont think Woodruff would be on any limitations. No reason Woodruff and Peralta couldn't cover 8 innings to get to Hader. There is a lot of ball left for this team - far from dead.
  8. Woodruff should be available to start game 5 no? Plus Peralta only through 50 pitches today so would think he may be available for a few innings out of the pen? I don't think game 5 would be a bullpen game at all.
  9. Lauer game 4. Burnes game 5. I like your optimism for game 5 though But to be honest we are probably looking at a 5-1 loss tomorrow maybe 7-2 or something like that Some team will hit the ball this series and it wont be us Holy crap why do you even follow this team if you have that type of outlook? You're just making yourself miserable. There is a lot of ball left to play before this team is dead
  10. "Desperation" or "aggressive" are interchangeable adjectives used depending on how the move plays out You aren't mistaken though saying the offense is "desperate" for scoring opportunities...and they finally had one
  11. Don't think it was an awful decision at all, just worked out awfully. This team has scored 2 runs through 2 games and it was on a homerun, they have generated absolutely nothing on offense, so when you have 2nd and 3rd with no outs, you have to do all you can to push runs across. Especially with Houser available in the pen. Houser obviously isn't pitching well but let's not act like this was foreseen, the guy was lights out to end the season so much so that many on this board thought he should be a starter. Not a bad decision just worked out really poorly this time
  12. I think that was the right call by Counsell just didn't work out. Houser and Lauer are both back in the pen and available. Given the offense we've seen so far this series, you have to try to capitalize on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Obviously didn't work out but that's a move you have to make, might not get a better opportunity this game
  13. Maybe JBJ will be a spark? Guy has a history of post season success and maybe he just needed to see the stat sheet reset?? Trying to be optimistic lol
  14. Ball seems to not be carrying much. A few times this game I've thought balls were crushed off the bat (obviously not from Brewers hitters) but then wind up just being routine flys.
  15. How dare someone have different expectations for a guy with a $200mil contract that incredibly limits how much money we have to fill other positions on the team. Brewer fans keep using this line as an excuse, and it is complete and utter ********. resources are whatever Attanasio decides to spend. If he wanted to spend $200 million on payroll for a year he could. He just chooses not to...that is NOT the same thing as having limited resources. Well, technically if I wanted to run up a 100k credit card bill, I also could. Doesn't mean I can or should, or that there would not be very serious long-term consequences.
  16. Not only was the idea to tag terrible, but when you see you're going to be out by a multiple steps, you gotta at least turn back and delay the tag until the run crosses. That was an absolute gift
  17. No. Sorry, but this is a thing. It's acceptable for some players to OPS .730, and not acceptable for others. The money is 100% the reason why to care about Yelich hitting the way he is. The team has limited resources, and they have invested a large amount of those resources in one guy, so he's expected to be significantly better
  18. It's incredible the fall that the Yeli vs. Beli 2019 MVP candidates have had...Beli has actually done something for the Dodgers this postseason though. If Brewers are going to win anything they're gonna need Yeli to contribute
  19. One can research the data all they want, but you'll never convince me that momentum, or lack thereof, doesn't make a difference in October. "Doesn't matter what the facts say I won't believe them." Got it.
  20. We knew all season the playoffs were going to be pitching duels and low scoring game...here we are!! Gotta get more competitive ABs against Morton though if nothing else just to drive up the pitch count and get to their pen. Feel like this team all season primarily produced later in games against teams pens.
