  1. I always believed HHCD was overrated. Like he made a Pro Bowl and I was over here asking myself why? A lot of the "Packers have talent on D" talk I think comes down to how Gary & Savage play. There has been a lot of talk about these guys being pro-bowl level players and if they play at that level, then I do think the Packers have enough talent on D to win big games. Those guys are in their third year now and if this team wants to take the next step then they can't continue to just be "high potential" guys...as we know potential just means "they haven't done it yet" but the clocks starting to tick on the "yet" Kenny Clark is another guy who just needs to be better. They are paying him to be a stud and against NO he wasn't close to that. What was more frustrating then his missed tackles though was his effort. For subscribers, The Athletic posted a few screenshots of plays this weekend where Clark's effort pursuing the ballcarrier was terrible. Can't have that from a guy who is supposed to be one of your top players
  2. Urias has been very good but Escobar isn't being forced into the lineup, he has also been pretty good. Certainly room for both - Rowdy/Vogelbach would be the guys to see less ABs.
  3. Will be fascinating to see how teams like the Reds or Cardinals would use their bullpens in a one game playoff since that is a pretty big weakpoint for both. Obviously anything can happen in a one game playoff format and bullpen issues can be covered by piggybacking starters...could make both pretty dangerous.
  4. Does Scherzer being traded hurt his candidacy at all? If Cy Young is just the best pitcher then probably not much impact but if voters view any part of the award as the most valuable pitcher, then being traded from one of the worst teams in baseball to one of the best should work against his case right?
  5. Brewers currently have the 5th best odds to win the World Series according to sports books. Better odds than the large markets like the NY Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and San Francisco Giants...in a year when all of those teams are also in the playoff picture. What a time to be a fan of this team
  6. Met's were rumored to be asking for Houser or Lauer at the trade deadline this year. They'll probably have some turnover in the front office this offseason but could be a match there too given their pitching needs.
  7. Staredown from the ump to the Brewers dugout post that review tells you all you need to know. Ump show...players and fans just lucky to be there
  8. Damarious Randall as well. Wonder if he'll blame that cut on Mike McCarthy somehow.... Letting Daniels go seemed stunning at the time, but in the end they made the right decision at the right time, as you noted, and as they usually do. Packers front office tends to take a lot of heat for being really good at their jobs. The team has won so much over the past 20 years its almost like most fans & media view it as a given despite the front office, not because of them. Not sure there is another front office in sports that gets criticized as much as they do, while also having the success that they do
  9. Webb has thrown a few pitches with some nasty movement. See why he's having a nice year for them
  10. Or we could carry that pattern through the post-season, as long as the losing 3 straight doesn't line up with the divisional round!
  11. Garcia is a pretty big piece that they likely won't be running it back with...but since its the optimism thread I'll also add that while this looks like it might be the best Brewers team in history, they have pretty much had this success despite the performance of their cornerstone player. With Yelich looking more like the all-star caliber player as of late, I don't think its crazy to feel that this team hasn't really come close to their ceiling yet even with their performance over the past few months.
  12. I don't think crowds matter at all I think its more about the team being more comfortable with their gameday routines in their home parks and hitters ability to pick up the baseball differently in the different stadiums i.e. the Willy Adames example. Thinking back to 2018, after Yelich's HR Miller Park felt like a crowd watching their team punch a ticket to a World Series and only a few innings later after Puigs shenanigan's you felt like you were at a funeral as everybody knew the game was over but we still had to hang around and watch for a few more innings, no crowd energy was bringing that team back to life.
  13. I forget the exact number, but the FSWI broadcast said the Giants score the highest percentage of runs based on the HR in all of baseball and that it was a pretty significant % of runs came via the HR. Personally, that doesn't scare me as much in October...feel like as a Brewers fan more often then not we've watched our homerun heavy teams struggle to score in the postseason when the air gets a little colder and pitchers are even more dialed in. I think they will have a tough time scoring in the postseason. Am I wrong though for being concerned about the Giants turning Quintana into a bullpen weapon during a playoff series? Even with his numbers from the Angels, I still don't want to see that guy pitching two innings a game every game against us. Almost surprised the Brewers didn't put in a claim on the guy just to keep him from throwing against us.
  14. Lol sounds like Ajones, Tonyan, MVS, Gary, Savage, PSmith and Jenkins all wear this pre-season crown.
  15. I agree with this. I think Love has actually looked really good going through progressions and delivering balls on time. He looks both confident and poised in the pocket and I've actually been impressed with his ability to move around in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield. I think those are all good signs for a young QB. His interception was definitely bad, anybody who has watched 1 second of football can tell you that, which should actually make it a pretty easy fix. I would be much more concerned if the interception came when he was in a clean pocket and he just misread the defense or if he delivered a ball off target. All in all, I think he is capable of being the quarterback of a winning team in the NFL. I'm not sure his ceiling is an Aaron Rodgers level that some people are unrealistically expecting, but I do think he's good enough to make the following an interesting question (after this immediate season obviously): does Jordan Love on a rookie contract give you a better chance at winning the Super Bowl than 40+ year old Rodgers taking up 20%+ of the cap?
  16. I would say it depends on your current RB situation since RBs are obviously not as deep a position group as WR but might not be a bad idea to sell high. Hearing a lot of reports suggesting Urban’s college playbook isn’t translating to the NFL well with his players. Allen Robinson also is in his franchise tag year, so have to think if Fields looks good he might stick around otherwise he’s probably off to a better QB situation next year given he hasn’t played with a good quarterback his entire career. Either way you get a solid WR2 with WR1 upside vs. James Robinson being a RB1 on a bad team this year, and a worse outlook for future years when Etienne is back.
  17. I'm curious where both the player and team draw the line on playing through an injury vs. coming out. Obviously if you are at risk of further injury or are going to hurt the team by playing, then they'll pull you, but does a guy like Anderson maybe just not ever want to play through any minor injury or discomfort? I am not meaning to question his toughness at all and understand the business aspect of it, but I just don't understand a guy having to leave a game due to injury so often, but then be able to make his next start a couple days down the road?
  18. My guess is that Houser is the #4 starter in the playoffs and Anderson and Lauer would be longmen/piggyback type guys if needed. Would make sense. I'm not sure you need both Anderson and Lauer though for a 5 game series, could see Anderson being replaced with another batter like Hiura or Vogelbach. Call me crazy but I actually think Hiura could have a spot on the NLDS roster solely as a pinch hitter in case one is needed early in the game. If a starter doesn't have it and their spot comes up in the 3rd, could make sense sending a guy like Hiura up there to see if he can run into one and preserve a guy like Urias for later in the game when you may need him more situationally
  19. Wonder how much Anderson's injury history will work against him making the playoff roster. as the #4 starter (assuming they throw 4). Not sure you want to have the increased risk of a short start by him
  20. I was hoping not to have to resort immediately to the consolation of, "Oh well, at least we won the first 2." Exactly. Each game is an opportunity. And yes, while you do have to have 5th starters, I just wish it would feel like ours atleast gives us a chance once in a while. Anderson, Lauer, and Houser have been pretty good almost all year. Would say that they have given the team a chance much more often than not
  21. Even though its not a save situation think I would still throw Hader here facing the heart of Reds lineup
