  1. I'm more wishful that Taylor would have been in the lineup.... I guess you've got some nice PH possibilities today.
  2. Suzi Quatro
  3. Sorry if I made it confusing. Yes, #3 hosts the last WC (#6). The first WC also hosts the second WC - this is probably where the confusion set in because I labeled it as #1 WC, which is really the 4-seed. So, to get the 3-seed, the magic number is 6. That’s the focus of this thread. We will probably clinch a playoff spot before we do that, though, and I was working through the magic numbers for that.
  4. Getting back to magic number talk, let's discuss clinching a playoff spot.... There are 3 teams currently on the outside of the WC race that the Brewers have not yet closed out - Miami, Cincy, and SF. The magic number for Miami is 5 - sort of. If Milw wins just one of its remaining 3 games with the Marlins, the Brewers would win the season series and thus own the tiebreaker. So, if the Brewers entered that series still at magic number 5 (perish the thought), winning that one game would bring it down to 2. For Cincy, it is now 3, and for SF it's 4 by virtue of SF having the tiebreaker. If you're wondering about the #1 WC spot (because they get to host, too), we are concerned with Philly and Az - we know our magic number is 6 with Chicago. We have a magic number of 8 with Philly and 7 with SF. So, to summarize the magic numbers: Division: 6, any WC: 5, #1 WC: 8.
  5. Any word on Yelich? If they don't plan on using him, what is the thinking about not putting him on the 10-day IL retroactive to his last appearance, and get someone else who could at least do something?
  6. I forgot about tiebreaker - thanks. It's 5.
  7. I've been keeping my eye on that. Our magic number is 6 on the Reds/7 on the other guys. We have 13 games left. Obviously, we should just win 7 games to close out this thing, but it is worth noting that both of the chasers are currently not in any of the Wild Card slots. They are in desperation mode.
  8. Time to pay attention to the magic number for the other C-town team, which is currently 7. They could become our closest pursuer by the end of tomorrow.
  9. He wasn't the first 12...
  10. The Cardinals have been eliminated.
  11. Hopefully for both teams... It'll probably be Payamps and Williams, but with the way Megill took care of the top of the lineup last night, I'd be tempted to trot him out next inning.
  12. The opportunity to flash the leather/arm doesn't happen "all the time" - just accept that he's a plus defender and a minus batter at this point, and a pinch runner candidate too. As soon as Canha and Yelich get back, he'll go back to the bench.
  13. We saw Elvis strike out Jesus today....
  14. You overlook it when you're 18 games over in mid-September, but it is still an accomplishment for a franchise with a 40th percentile payroll.
  15. Lost in the shuffle after last night's win, the Brewers won their 81st game, guaranteeing at least a .500 record. I know it's not that big of a deal with this many games remaining, but that is a worthy milestone to acknowledge and celebrate....
  16. One of the all-time names for a Brewer, Billy Jo Robideaux. He was a monster in the minors and people were clamoring for him for years, but he never amounted to much in the majors.
  17. Looking forward to the first time someone can use foie gras in a limerick…..
  18. I don't think I get the obscurity thing. This number is always Gumby.....
  19. Megill's 5 outs were all Ks. That's 27 per 9 if I have my math right...
  20. 8/24 Brewers' magic numbers: Cubs 33 Reds 32 Pirates 23 Cardinals 21
  21. Well, they didn't tack on, but I was on the same wavelength, bullpen usage-wise. Hopefully, that was the last AB for Seager....
  22. If the Crew could tack on a couple here, I wouldn't mind sending Megill out there to face 8 & 9 in the order....
  23. Didn't this game start at 3:10 Central? I just got done with work and it's already over. Last year, we'd be in the 6th right about now,... But, I like this a lot better.
