  1. The thing about it is, I don't really see any players that need to come back to earth. Maybe our starters a tad, but everyone else is either right around expectatations or below them. Lucroy is the only one I expect to fall off. If anything, guys will revert back towards the mean will actually make us better, as McGehee and Betancourt are significantly below their career numbers.
  2. The pitching matchups in the entire series certainly swing in our favor. I'm hoping for at least 2 of these games.
  3. Should we all move over to the draft discussion forum for rounds 6-20 at this point?
  4. Billy....i'm watching the live feed on mlb.com. Not the draft tracker, the actual draft. You can watch it live and it's pretty much in real time.
  5. Reed is a CF/RF that did also pitch. He apparently has committed to play in college in the SEC, so we'll see if they can get him signed.
  6. While none of what you said is really wrong (though I would take exception to Nieves being good defensively), those aren't exactly great qualities. Gomez I actually like on the bench, every team needs a speed guy with great defense. The rest.... For example....does it really matter if Counsell won 2 WS rings? He was a role player on both of those teams, and his production is basically non-existant. And yes, Kotsay is a veteran who has been around the block, but he doesn't really add much of anything that a guy like Katin doesn't posess, other than experience. There is something to be said for experience, but at some point production has to occur as well. I think we can all agree that Nieves needs to be replaced. I just don't believe having a "veteran" behind Lucroy is that big of a deal, not to mention that Nieves doesn't have that much experience. He's bounced around but he has never really played regularlily anywhere and is simply not very good.
  7. I'm somewhat worried about this series. Mets have been playing slightly better lately. We're on a high after the sweep and could be looking past the Mets to the upcoming Cardinals series. I hope I'm wrong. Need to keep riding the wave here.
  8. They said he has some power....anyone know anything about him? Yet another college player.
  9. And the Brewers select Nick Ramirez. 1b from Cal State Fullerton. Played on team USA collegiate team. Also pitched in college.
  10. Another pitcher, Andrew Gagnon from Long Beach State, another college guy. RHP. Another big guy.
  11. Seattle just picked Cron at 92....bummer.
  12. For those indicating they should spend money later, are there specific players you have in mind that we could get later that would cost 1/2 round money?
  13. Anyone have a scouting report on him?
  14. Listach...yes Barron I meant. I apparently can't read.
  15. Listach...thanks for the list. I'll be referencing that all day. Of all those guys mentioned, you think Bonnor is the one I should hope for?
  16. For those of you that know....any sleepers I should hope the Brewers snag in the next few rounds here? Any really high talent guys falling at all?
  17. What time does the draft resume today?
  18. I just wish the Cardinals would stop getting all these wins against mediocre teams and we could actually pass them. Then we can focus on staying in front and catching the Phillies.
  19. I'm not saying we need to have a bunch of all stars or top level prospects riding the pine, but I don't think it's asking all that much for our bench to have a composite average that is above .220 with virtually no power. As been shown, contending teams (such as the Cards, Braves, Phillies and Yankees) do have solid players on the bench, where we really have a bunch of washouts or has beens. If we needed a HR (with say 2 outs in the 9th), who would you call on? Gomez? Gallardo? And the bench DOES matter, these guys ARE getting sport starts at least once a week and they're horrible. It's a minor thing but the bench is a problem and is something that I feel needs to be addressed at some point. It's fine to have speed, and there are some useful parts on the bench, but as a whole, it leaves much to be desired.
  20. He called him safe, then apparently judged that Morgan went off the base on his own? Seriously? I'm sure he just jumped off the ground two feet away from the base with his own momentum. The catcher barreling into him had nothing to do with it. Just a really bad call. Compounded by the fact that Braun was due up and that ended the inning.
  21. that is just a terrible call and play at first base. first of all, the catcher shouldn't be diving into first like that with his gear on (maybe slipped) but incidental or not, you can't just knock guys off of the bases. he was clearly there first. and RR doesn't even argue, that's a play he probably should have gotten tossed on.
  22. I'm not overly impressed by this pick. Seems like we had better options for this pick. They all seemed to like him but eh.
  23. And once again we're in commercial on our pick. I swear networks do this just to annoy me.
  24. I had the draft on, flipped back and they had a run and a guy on second? Someone please fill me in on the details?
