  1. Jungmann it is. Did Texas make the college world series this year??
  2. Just like the NFL draft, they go to commercial as we're on the clock and don't talk about us at all. Awesome.
  3. Well there goes Springer. So who should I jump up and down for when we draft?
  4. Wasn't Bradley supposed to be gone long before our pick?
  5. I've read the reviews of Gray and I'm just not overly impressed. Not like I would know but he seems to underwhelm me a bit.
  6. And there goes Baez, for those that know these guys, who should I be hoping for now? Safe to assume we're taking 2 pitchers at this point?
  7. Having one starter off is fine....but with the guys we have available to take their places, it's going to be a huge downgrade, and in some cases, a huge downgrade in both offense and defense. If you're going to give Hart off, at least help the defense out by putting Gomez in. He's likely due to start tomorrow vs the lefty, giving him two days in a row (after not having an AB in a few days) would probably be more productive than just throwing him out there to start every 4-5 days when a lefty happens to be on the mound.
  8. It's great that the Brewers are playing well and winning games right now but I just can't get over how utterly terrible the bench is. At some point, we're going to need some big pinch hits or if a starter were to go on the DL, that these are really the only options we would have to fill in. I'll leave out Josh Wilson for now due to his small sample size with the Brewers, but here are the other 4 bench regulars right now (this is assuming Morgan starts most games in CF): Gomez: .224 average, .359 slugging Kotsay: .250 average, .298 slugging Counsell: .197 average, .212 slugging Nieves: .152 average, .196 slugging It's hard to imagine any playoff team having virtually nothing available on the bench. I can't understand Nieves on the roster. I could understand Counsell, as he's versatile and was good last year but he seems to have clearly lost it. If we needed a HR to tie a game, I'd almost rather see Gallardo at the plate than any of these guys.
  9. I don't have a problem with Hart getting a day off occassionally, but if he's going to do that, Gomez needs to be in the lineup. One, the defense of a Morgan/Gomez outfield would be huge compared to Morgan/Kotsay. Two, offensively, I'd almost rather have Gomez. He won't walk as much but they're both about as likely to get a hit. Gomez has a higher slugging percentage and can actually do some damage on the basepaths. With the current roster, it's absurd to me that Kotsay has passed Gomez on the depth chart. It's also absurd that Hart is once again not playing. He just had some days off last weekend when he was sick, and we were just off on Thursday. There is no need for him to be out right now, not to mention the fact that he is one of our hotter hitters right now.
  10. I read somewhere or other that Nieves now has the most at bats in the majors this year without an RBI. So that's great. I've argued this several times over now and it makes absolutely ZERO sense that they signed him and then inexplicably kept him on the roster all this time. Something has to be done.
  11. If any team claimed him, we should find out today. I would think that to be highly unlikely based on his salary, which would make him a FA. Can't imagine teams will be beating down his door with an offer but who knows. I'm sure he'll latch on somewhere though.
  12. For food, I would you definitely need to get a burger either at Sobelmans or Solly's. You'll know why. We also have extremely good frozen custard here - three places really come to mind, Gillies, Kopps and Oscars. Any of them will do, my favorite is Gillies. I'd also recommend Summerfest, and if you can find it, a bar called "The Safehouse". It's pretty sweet. Also, I'd recommend going to tailgate before a game as well, that can be a pretty neat experience. Might be tough to get food as an out of towner, but just picking up a case of beer and checking out the atmosphere is pretty fun as well.
  13. He is definitely better than Josh Wilson. He can play every position on the field and has some power. His average sucks, but let's face it, he's a better hitter and player than Josh Wilson. IT likely won't happen but it's worth a look I think.
  14. Unless Weeks/Prince/Hart combine for 4-5 homeruns, I'll be stunned if this lineup scores more than 2 runs. Yuck. Please prove me wrong Brewers. Please.
  15. So we're missing one of our top offensive players, coming off the day off yesterday....Yep, let's still start both Kotsay AND Nieves. That easily has to be the worst lineup of the year. Sure looks like a loss on paper. Let's hope Braun is ok to play tomorrow.
  16. In that giant ballpark, it would be a drastic mistake to not have Gomez or Morgan in CF. This one of the biggest, if not the biggest centerfield area in all of baseball and the dropoff defensively between Gomez/Morgan to Kotsay is drastic. That being said, RR will probably do it and bat him second.
  17. I'm almost positive I have an extra Gallardo signed ball at home. What were you looking to trade for it?
  18. I hate having it up on every pitch. It's way too big and way too distracting. There is no need to show it on virtually every pitch. Just show it on close pitches or replays. Or if they insist on having it up, find a way to make it smaller and not so distracting. I just don't see the need for it. Plus, I think it's off anyway but that's another issue.
  19. His insistance on having Loe pitch the 8th inning in close games, the ENTIRE 8th inning, despite the situations or the hitters up, etc may have just cost us yet another game. RRR and his poor decisions are really getting to me. And really starting to cost us way too many games.
  20. I agree. You wonder how many of these they can take. This was a chance to get rid of demons on the road, against the reds, etc. Instead we lead all game, then find a way to blow it when it matters most and suffer yet another heart breaking defeat. Hitting Phillips can't happen. Nor can leaving Loe in to face Votto. Career numbers and Loe this season would indicate that you take him out and bring in Axford (or anyone else for that matter), yet we just let him sit there. Then he just throws one belt high, right down the middle. Game over. It just seems that on the road at least, we find ways to NOT win games, not the other way around. And that's a bad trend.
  21. The real bad part is hitting Phillips with two outs and nobody on to bring Votto to the plate in the first place. Then just throw him a fastball belt high down the middle.
  22. For me, and this will sound horrible, but I really don't want our prospects to do that well for other teams. It's nothing personal on them, it's just always the 20/20 thing. Like "we had this guy, he could be hitting .325 in a Brewers uniform". It's better obviously when we get something good like Marcum or CC in return, but I just like to think we didn't give up all stars. Something like that if that makes any sense.
  23. This is a big game. Leake could give us trouble as he's a soft tosser, but I hope not. If this lineup can produce, maybe it will allow RR to use it again, just with McGehee sixth. I hope so at least. I think it would do a great deal for the mental makeup of the Brewers if they can go into Cincy and win a series. Get rid of the demons we seem to have against the Reds and the "not winning on the road" thing too. Time for Marcum to redeem himself from that first start!
  24. Not really the case anymore. They'll sell out most Sunday games June-September regardless. If anything, they should do them on weeknights against bad teams. I quit the bobble head addiction cold turkey this year. Don't have the smallest desire to get any this year. They really need to come up with more unique, innovative giveaways. They don't sell out every bobblehead game any more. They do for the big names, but for the first one this year, the attendance was only like 35,000. Those really are some of the most plain, boring looking bobbleheads they've had. They all just look like generic. They're getting cheaper and cheaper with them and as a result the players look like nobody really (the McGehee one looked more like me than it did him) and the ideas are just plain and boring. Counsell in a blue jersey though, that's different. I don't know why they have virtually every bobblehead in white, at least they gave us that minor bit of variety.
  25. We owe them big time for embarassing the crap out of us and basically ending our season last July. Time for some payback!!
