  1. Someone brought up the Cardinals middle always picking up RBI's and they do. Good teams find ways to score a run here or there, manufacture runs. Not find ways to not score like we do. Show me some evidence of any of that, please. On average, batters perform about the same with RISP than without. Fans just have a much higher expectation when a run can be scored. You're probably right, they probably do perform about the same. But when all you have do to is put the ball in play to score a run, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the batter to come through way more often than not.
  2. Is anyone else getting tired of this stuff? A division rival gets a guy that was absolutely terrible last year and he gets to his new team and reverts to five years ago. Or suddenly figures out how to be good in the majors? Scott Rolen, Lance Berkman, Carlos Silva (early last year at least), Brett Myers....and to a lesser extent, guys like Ryan Dempster, Kyle Lohse and probably a few more I'm forgetting.
  3. I get a lot more upset when there are no base runners at all. At least there is some action. This is a good pitcher in a pitcher's park, so this is what you get. Still a lot of time left. Pitchers park may have cost us in the first inning, but not in the third. Pitchers parks have no bearing on getting a single or putting the ball in play with a man on third and driving the run in. It seems that every time we get guys on base, we get over anxious, swing for 3 run home runs and lose all semblence of basic, fundamental baseball. I understand we're going to fail in that spot, but we fail way, way more than we succeed, it sure seems so at least. Someone brought up the Cardinals middle always picking up RBI's and they do. Good teams find ways to score a run here or there, manufacture runs. Not find ways to not score like we do. And I don't care what the argument is, unless that's the GW run on second, you don't have your third best hitter in Weeks bunt with a man on second and no outs. It's just a waste.
  4. Like I said, absolutely terrible with a man on third and one out. Because it's hard to hit the ball...at all. Leadoff double by the pitcher and a walk in the inning and we can't score a run. It's so infuriating. 18 men left on in 12 innings, 2 total runs scored. AWESOME.
  5. Yeah, let's hear it. Pitcher doubles, one of your better hitters is up in a 2 run game and you have him drop down a bunt....in the third inning? Why are we playing for ONE run at this point. It's the top of the order for crying out loud.... Especially when you consider how miserable we are with a man on third and one out. I'm stunned when we score from this spot sadly.
  6. Wolf got pinched on at least 2-3 pitches and Kuroda seems to be getting a wider zone. Sure seems that way at least. Wolf at least got on base. Now we need to make sure he scores. I have almost no faith in us doing so though.
  7. Well good luck to your wife. She win anything cool? I work in sales...I demonstrate the products we offer to our potential clients after a sales rep sents up a meeting. I don't get commission, which sucks since I do most of the leg work. However, today at work, I received a big UPS package. Inside as a really nice card and a GIANT bottle of Kettel One. I"m sure I made her a bunch of money this year, but that's still pretty cool. I wanted to crack it open and drink it, but apparently that sort of thing is frowned upon while at work.
  8. I guess theoretically, there probably are some people that have Green as their favorite player, but it's certainly only because of those things. Like they met him or whatever. It certainly can't be on performance.
  9. Was this supposed to be in a blue? The Green part...? I couldn't even say Green was my favorite player with a straight face. I hope all of this ultimately winds up with Nieves never playing for the Brewers ever again.
  10. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. My wife had our first child, also a girl, back in August. Is it sad that one of the first things I did after we got home from the hospital was to register her for Packers season tickets?
  11. This is exactly what I wanted to write...I'm just too frustrated to write it properly. Good post. It's not that we gave up the lead, that happens. It's that he went with Loe again, and everyone here almost knew what would happen. The only one surprised is RR. This one is on him, along with at least 1-2 others this year already. I hate to say this, but the way we've played this year....we look much more like a 70-92 team than a 92-70 team.
  12. Loe clearly didn't have it, he was clearly tired and wasn't supposed to be available. Yet there he was on the mound. Being ineffective yet again. Anyone have any idea why Braun was taken out?
  13. I think a fair amount of blame falls on RR today. Loe has been way overused to this point and he hasn't been very effective for over a week now. Yet he throws him out there anyway, with the game on the line and he gives up hit after hit. Loe should not have been in there today. He made the right move bringing in Stetter (though he's sucked too) but after that I completely disagree with the moves. Hawkins has looked great and threw only 14 pitches, he could have stayed in another inning. Or gave McClendon a shot (though he got drilled too). There were other options than Loe, who is probably tired and not effective. Yet RR seems to absolutely insist on using him every 8th inning. This could have been a huge comeback, motivating win. Instead, it feels like we got beat twice.
  14. Reserve that "best day" comment until after we win http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. In the last inning, he called strikes at least 5 inches off both corners for them. Casey and Prince both questioned him. That's two on Casey now. A leadoff double off Brauns glove. For how deep he plays, I think he probably should have caught that ball. Be nice to somehow keep them off the scoreboard here and get our bats back up there.
  16. Mitre looked better at the plate than Nieves. I'm not even saying that as a joke. It's true.
  17. That ball to Casey, the second strike call sure looked out of the zone to me, that was a bad call I think. I'm so glad we can have Nieves hitting. Sucks that Hart missed a HR by inches (though it should have been caught I think) and then Betancourt drilled a ball 390 for an out. At least we're somewhat back in it. Mitre with a quick two outs here, let's get the bats back up there. I wonder if we'll let Mitre hit or not.
  18. In a stunner, Wolf gives up 2 line drives singles with one out and they pull him from the game. Good thing we let him hit last inning.
  19. Mark Kotsay and Wil Nieves shouldn't even be starting in Nashville right now. It's a somewhat small sample considering he doesn't play every day but Nieves is currently batting .147. He has a grand total of THREE hits since opening day, when he had two.
  20. I'm watching it but I'd rather not be. Wolf looked bad. He got a bit unlucky on a hit and run. Weeks was covering second, if Betancourt was it was an easy double play. That being said, virtually everything was hit hard by the Padres, who suck on offense by the way. Kotsay just put all his might behind one...and it almost made the warning track in left.
  21. Boggs would seem to be a much better outfielder than Kotsay. Neither is hitting the ball well at all, but at least Boggs has some power and the edge in the field. Mark Kotsay in CF and in the 2 hole is one of the worst moves we could have possibly made. Throw in the .156 hitting Wil Nieves to the lineup and we're just destined to score today right?
  22. Me and some buddies have decided to head to Boston for the Brewers series in June. Looking for help on a couple of things. 1 - what area should we stay in? I've been here before and I know Boston is kinda spread out and you can take the train/subway thing pretty much everywhere, so we won't have a car. Ideally, we'd like somewhere that has easy access to the train so we can get to and from Fenway. But we're also looking for an area that might have some bars, restaurants and maybe some night time activities. We're all in our late twenties, so pretty much any type of place is fine, just looking for some options (is there anything that resembles water street? or state street or anything like that)? 2. any suggestions on things we should do? We're already planning on touring Fenway, touring Sam Adams, checking out a little of the freedom trail, checking out Harvard and obviously the 3 games. Any restaurants we MUST go to while we are there? Anything else that we should see? Thanks for the help.
  23. I think of a defining moment as one play that exemplifes the team. Or one play that we can look back on and think "that sparked us". And maybe, just maybe, that play happened last night. The Betancourt to Weeks double play in the 8th inning last night was spectacular. Sometimes, it just takes one moment, one play, anything to make the team think that good things can happen and they start playing with more fire or energy. If that ball gets through, it's maybe first and third, no outs and a run in. Instead it's bases empty with a run in and two outs. Maybe that was the play that gets them going. I hope so at least. I was there last night and there was just a buzz in the air after that play. Something that's been missing all season.
  24. I apologize...I know there was a thread on this but I can't for the life of me seem to find it. Me and some buddies have decided to head to Boston for the Brewers series in June. 25. 2-4 weeks seems like a very, very quick turnaround. Throw in the fact that he just came off teh DL and that's basically 4-6 weeks or longer without really playing baseball. It's like 4-6 weeks minimum for him to return, if not longer. Good thing we play small ball all the time, if only it actually worked once in awhile.
