  1. Come on Shaw. Just hit it. Took a strike. Then swung at a pitch a foot off the plate inside. Gotta just put it in play here. Please....
  2. I thought so too. He played the ball, I thought it was live at that point since he didn't hold the arms up. That's just highly bad luck. Thames is going to score on that play regardless I think. Come on guys, just hit a couple deep fly balls here and let's win this. Sadly, we struggle so so badly in these spots...ugh.
  3. Got super, super unlucky there. Thames was scoring on that play easily. But the ball wedged in there for a split second and we lose the run for it.
  4. Well that works. Now get someone on and let's steal this one!
  5. Get a baserunner here. At least give ourselves a chance to tie it up with a long ball.
  6. Spoken in a moment of frustration, I know. But if the 2017 Milwaukee Brewers have highly frustrated you this year ... you may need to adjust a few of your expectations? They have been a joy to watch thus far. Sure a few guys are struggling, but the pros outweigh the cons about 4 to 1. Easy on the hate juice. Yes, this season has been quite a bit better than I expected. And it's certainly a step in the right direction. They are way better than I ever expected them to be. BUT, that doesn't mean that the team should just put up with terrible performances over and over and over again by the same players. We're not talking about young guys here in growing pains - there's no reason a team (one in first place even - I know, not likely to last), should continue to keep guys on the roster that simply aren't getting the job done.
  7. Oh good. A Franklin AB. And another out. So glad we have him here still. Sorry - again beating the dead horse. But this game and this team is just leaving me highly frustrated of late.
  8. Feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but I'm just so frustrated and sick of this bullpen. Same guys keep being run out there, same guys keep giving up runs, taking losses. Yet we're just doing nothing. Just make a change already. it's hard to believe anyone we bring up could truly be any worse. I'm starting to think that for Broxton too - guy is leading the NL in strikeouts and he doesn't even play every day.
  9. Espino has now made two starts, couldn't get into the 5th inning either time. That's not good. Also giving up the HR ball. Not good. Also...the strike zone is getting frustrating today. Slater should have been rung up the pitch before his HR, called a ball. And Cueto is getting quite a bit off the plate. The strike 3 to Sogard was at least 3-4 inches outside.
  10. Here's the Brewers lineup: Sogard SS Thames LF Aguilar 1B Shaw 3B Santana RF Bandy C Villar 2B Broxton CF Espino P
  11. Phillips sent back down to make room for Espino. So they brought him up, got one start, two days on the bench and now goes back down. Not sure what the point of that was...meanwhile, Franklin continues to waste a roster spot. Ugh.
  12. Are the vendors walking around going to start accepting credit cards? And how about the SSH discount you don't get with them? I have a tendency to not carry a ton of cash on me, which leads me to the stands so i can use my debit/credit card. I also want to get my 25% off on the SSH nights. Currently, the walking vendors provide me with neither of those options, which would be a huge issue.
  13. We can't go back and redo the offseason, obviously there were some guys they maybe could have had...but didn't. For what we have now, I would absolutely try to build from within first. We don't have any studs persay but I would be hard pressed to think that our AAA bullpen guys could be much worse than what we have. 17 bullpen losses, 11 blown saves, 64 runs allowed in the 8/9 innings. That's terrible. First thing I would do is bring up a lefty. Give Wang a shot. Or Hader. Or Suter. Or all some combination of them. Aside from a left, let Blazek get another shot. Give Cravy a try. There are plenty of guys down there. As far as who to get rid of...Feliz, Drake, Hughes, Peralta, (though I'd personally give him a bit longer to adjust), Scahill. Send them down or just flat get rid of them. Sitting idle and watching our pen blow game after game just simply shouldn't be an option right now, not while we're still in the mix at least.
  14. I dunno....I think there are more people than we realize that know about some of our prospects, especially the good one. People hate losing and with the "rebuild" more or less being a public thing, some people probably knew who he was. It reminded me of when Corey Hart got his first at bat a long time ago. He had one PH appearance (I think) before being sent back down. Crowd gave him a standing ovation when he came to the plate. More or less as a sign that the future is getting close. I would be stunned if the Brewers sent Arcia down unless he completely and utterly fails at the plate. .240 isn't good by any stretch but he is showing some small signs of improvement. As others have mentioned, his defense is top notch. At the SS position, that's going to carry him a long long way. I'm glad to see some of the stuff about Perez. His ONLY value (IMO) is his versatility. He's an average hitter that struggles to get on base unless he's going extremely hot. He's not great defensively, but they can stick him anywhere. His numbers as a full time player at anywhere other than SS or 2b I think would leave a lot to be desired.
  15. I'm curious to see how many times Auggie calls him "Burt Phillips." I honestly don't expect he'll be here for long. When Shaw comes back, that means Perez has no home. He could take over at 2nd I suppose, now Sogard is out. Then you have Aguilar frozen out, since Thames wouldn't be playing any LF. And that's all before Braun even comes back. So I really only see him up for a few days unless he does take Broxton's spot, and I don't think that's going to happen. Broxton has done enough to keep a spot. He strikes out a lot, but so does Phillips. He could take Franklin's spot potentially...doesn't solve the problem when Braun returns though.
  16. domingo santana is in right tonight. phillips is starting in center. Yup, my bad. I changed my initial post.
  17. We'll have to agree to disagree on the 8 spot in the lineup. There's more to think about there with the pitcher batting behind than just about anywhere else in the lineup. That spot would be fine for him if the lineup was stacked, but it's not. And Franklin there would make a lot more sense to me.
  18. Was waiting for this to be started so I could complain about the lineup. Ha. I have several gripes to this one, but my biggest two: 1 - Putting a guy making his MLB debut in the 8 hole in front of the pitcher. He's a better hitter than that and it gives him that much more to think about. Don't love that in any way. 2 - Once again not playing Arcia (in favor of Franklin to boot). Sogard in the lineup is fine right now, but why not him in LF? Arcia is easily our best defender, so we're weakening ourselves there for sure. And he's been hitting relatively well of late. If you must play Franklin, why isn't he 8th and Phillips 6th? 3 (not about tonight per say just in general) - Given the rest of the guys playing, maybe there aren't many options, but is anyone else getting tired of seeing Perez in the 3 (and tonight 4) spot in the lineup? Braun can't get back soon enough.
  19. Phillips starting in CF tonight and batting 8th. Glad to see they're going to use him at least. I'll save the rest of my rant on the lineup for the IGT.
  20. Paternity leave is what...3 days? There would be almost no point in bringing him up for a few days only to ride the bench. Right??
  21. Only just turned 18 years old, playing in the DSL. Hit .308 there last year, 1 HR. Can't seem to find a whole lot else about him
  22. The local guy from last year, name is escaping me (Morell?). They should bring him back in to camp. I personally though he had won the job last season.
  23. I did too. And to think, we certainly could have won the series. Hopefully the offense can get going again here (yesterday not withstanding). Won't be easy against the Dodgers though.
  24. Agree with all of you...it has definitely been an issue for a very long time. It just seems that it's been way, way worse lately.
