I think we matchup better with Baylor, but that's only if we hit our threes. Creighton can score, but they play very very poor defense and don't rebound well. All that said, I'd rather play Baylor. When playing someone like McDermott and Wragge, you never know when they may go off for 40 on any given night. I do worry some about the Baylor zone and their length against us, but we've handled that this year too I guess.

Anyone know where/how I can watch a replay of the Badger game? I was at the game but forgot to record it on the DVR.

He may have left for his own personal reasons, which is fine, but this is likely career suicide for him IMO. Maybe he'll prove his greatness and recruiting and resurrect the VT program, which hasn't gotten to the Sweet 16 in I believe almost 50 years. I always wonder if coaches egos get in the way in this situation. With both Buzz and Beliema, they were left with programs in awfully good shape. Crean left Buzz with a very good team and he took the reigns and ran with it, same with Beliema. I think these guys don't realize how hard it is to take a program from the toilet and build it into a winner. VT has several issues. 1 - it's a football school. This isn't going to change. 2 - it's at the bottom of a super powerful basketball conference....Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Louisville (next year) are going to be near the top of that (and the nation) pretty much every year. Throw in others like UVA, Clemson, Wake, etc, and just getting into the top HALF of the ACC is going to be an extreme challenge. 3 - I don't think he's a good coach. Sure, he took some talented teams and won with them, but look at this year. IMO, much of what happened was due to his rotation and game management. They weren't a great team, but they had more talent than a barely over .500 program.

Yeah, NM kinda got hosed there. It was off of him out of bounds, but only due to the foul (which wasn't called). The VCU one was even more absurd. I'm not sure he even touched the guy, and if he did, it was a grazing at best. The guy then completely flopped. If you're going to make a potential game (and in this case, season changing call) at the end of the game, you better be sure. For all the things they let go with the game on the line, to get called for something like that I found to be pretty ridiculous. Watching it live, I didn't see much contact and watching it on replay, I saw even less. This has really been an amazing set of opening days for the tournament. I think 6 OT games already (only 2 total in the last two tournaments combined), couple of buzzer beaters, some close games and even some 1-2 seeds being challenged. Plus of course the usual upsets with quite a few double digit seeds advancing. Oh and the Badger blowout, which was nice.

I've never gotten a fancy package, and I've renewed way before the deadline for the last 7-8 years now. It's always just a giant stack of tickets rubberbanded together in an envelope.

My guess is they will talk to Wardle. Doing a good job at GB, he played at Marquette.... It's not an upgrade other than going to the ACC, but VT is a bottom tier ACC school, not to mention they will always play second fiddle to the football team there. I like Marquette, but it's annoying to see it used as a stepping stone program. I just never viewed it that way until recently.

Both Michigan and Duke win when the opponent fails to convert down one in the final seconds. Illinois even had a pretty wide open 5 footer to win. Sure would have been nice if they had lost. I think we're the frontrunner for the last #1 seed right now, but it's going to take beating MSU tomorrow for sure. Be awful nice if Michigan and Duke would lose tomorrow. I'm not really concerned with Virginia. Their resume just simply isn't very good, and we beat them head to head. I guess Louisville is in the mix too, but they've played a very weak schedule as well. On another note, I'd sure like it if Iowa State would lose to Baylor tomorrow. Mainly due to the placement in Milwaukee. They're closing the gap on Michigan/WI for that spot in Milwaukee. They beat Kansas today and they're likely in the 3/4 seed range right now. Likely a 3, which is certainly high enough to get preferential seeding. Doesn't mean they'd pass us, but it certainly could happen if they beat Baylor and MSU blows us out. I guess Creighton could be in there too, but they're not really that close to Milwaukee and I think they're pretty far behind. They also can't beat Villanova again, so they aren't going to improve the resume much.

Where are the best wings in the Milwaukee area?
brwrsfan replied to brwrsfan's topic in Off-Topic Forum
It started roughly ten years ago. We've probably hit 90% of the Thursdays since then. It certainly has been an awful lot of wings, but I love them!!! We usually only go to BW3 these days if there is a specific game we want to watch. It's pretty easy to watch a game there and the beer is relatively cheap. The food has definitely gotten worse over the years though. Same with Hooters. For those in the area, I'd definitely try Tomkens and Johnny Hammers. Both exceptionally good wings, though they are small places and sometimes there is a wait. But definitely worth it. -

Suburbs are fine, yeah. Nothing too far out, I would say Waukesha is probably about as far west as we'd go. Anything in that range is perfectly fine. Forgot about Quaker Steak, been there. Decent wings though I found it hard to watch sporting events personally. -
For about the last 10 years or so, myself and 3-5 other buddies have had a weekly tradition of going out for wings (and beer) on Thursday nights. For the longest time we almost always went to BW3's, as it was right by where we lived, with the occasional trip to Hooters. About six months or so ago, we decided to change it up and have since started trying various bars and restaurants trying to find the best wings in the city. We've been all over the place, but we're starting to run out of ideas. Here is the list of places we've tried, in order of how I would rank the wings. Tomkens Johnny Hammers Points East Leff's Colonel Harts Geribaldi's Aris Pub Red Rooster Painted Parrot Big Dawgs Might be missing one or two, but that's all I can remember. I figure with as many people on this board that like sports (and presumably wings), that this would be a great place to get some recommendations for some hidden gems and great wings!!! Anyone have any other suggestions?? Like to stay in Milwaukee and the surrounding areas if possible. Thursday wing specials would be a huge plus, but certainly not required. I'd be happy to give you my thoughts on the above places too if anyone cares

ESPN and CBS both have them projected as a 15 seed in their most recent projections (from today). One against Kansas, the other against Syracuse.
-
While that would be cool...it's not possible. 1 - They played in the regular season. The committee can't schedule rematches until the second round at the earliest (or later if you played more than once). 2 - A 15 seed isn't going to get to play in their own hometown I think a 15 is probably where they wind up, maybe as high as a 14 if a few crappy teams wind up getting automatic bids, but most of those really small conferences are just about finished up. Marquette catches a break with the Xavier big guy missing tomorrow's game. They're going to have to win all 3, but that should give them a big edge inside tomorrow night I would think. For UW, their best shot to get in the Midwest is for Kansas to lose to Oklahoma State tomorrow. They could drop out of the Midwest, plus the injury to Embiid could be a factor in their seeding potentially as well. All of this is contingent on the Badgers winning Friday, and ideally Saturday as well.
-
UWM in the tournament is pretty cool and unexpected. Not going to lie, as someone that cheers for the state teams, I'm happy about it. Makes the tournament that much more fun (especially with Marquette likely not in it), but I was really hoping that GB would have made it. I think they had a chance to win a game or two. I've seen UWM play quite a few times this year and this is the best they've played basically all season, but I think their seeding is going to make them an extreme longshot. CBS currently has them as a 15 seed against Syracuse (in Buffalo). You never know, but they're going to be huge dogs. At least they are in though, that's still cool and very surprising.
-
Their seeding in the tournament is likely set at a 2, worst case a 3 seed. I'd be more concerned about making sure they play in Milwaukee. Right now it's them and Michigan, both as likely two seeds. But Creighton and Iowa State are not far behind. Iowa State concerns me most, as they have a chance to pick up wins over a bunch of tournament teams in the Big 12 tournament - KState, then likely Kansas, then maybe Texas or someone in the final. They win that and they could very easily move up and possibly steal a spot in Milwaukee. Same with Creighton, though the only win they could get that would really help is Villanova in the finals. I think a win on Friday, likely over MN, would probably cement it for WI. Lose and it could get taken away, which would really suck.

I did notice that, and It was ridiculous. Wilson is just simply not good. He also had a turnover with about 1:30 left in one of the OT's. He was WIDE open for a 3 but because he can't shoot, he decided to drive and traveled. He cost them at the end of OT and the end of the second OT. Thomas is to blame too, but Wilson really blew it. And I completely agree, he's just simply not a good player, yet Buzz keeps putting him out there when there are much, much better options sitting on the bench. Badgers just need to win tonight and I think it'll almost lock up the Milwaukee spot for the first two rounds. They have to be awfully far ahead of the others. Michigan is close, but they can both play there. Creighton, Iowa State and MSU have lost quite a bit lately.

Not sure if anyone else stayed up to watch the Marquette game tonight. Great game, but what an epic fail by Marquette. For those that didn't see it. Marquette went up 3 with about 25 seconds left in double OT. They play great defense, and Providence gets a 2 with roughly 10 seconds left. Timeout called. Marquette gets it in to Thomas. Who catches it and just cradles the ball. Doesn't move, doesn't try to pass, doesn't call timeout. The Providence guy reaches in and forces a jumpball (not sure if he even had the ball but it didn't matter). Providence arrow, their ball with 7 second left. Then on the INBOUNDS pass, Derek Wilson commits a foul going for the ball. I mean, it's one thing to turn it over, it's another to commit a foul on an inbounds play with 7 seconds left when the guy is going away from the basket, roughly 5 feet behind the arc. Providence makes 2 FT. Marquette comes down and Mayo gets a good luck and throws up an airball. Gardner with a slight chance to tip it in but bobbled the ball it appeared. So to recap, up 3 with 25 left to down 1 with 7 seconds left. Simply stunning. Gardner also hit a 70 footer about .2 after the buzzer sounded that would have won the game earlier too. I doubt MU had much of a tournament shot, but this officially ended it, and it's pretty sad because it's a game they certainly had in their pocket and lost out of just bad basketball plays.

2014 Official Pro Wrestling Thread (WWE, TNA, etc).

I tend to disagree. The fact that they played his music and Heyman came out and talked directly about CM Punk probably means something. Seems odd considering they basically just pretended like he didn't exist after he walked out. Decent Raw last night I guess. The Bryan/HHH angle is fun to watch, but very predictable and I can't imagine they let Bryan actually win at WM. -
It's completely silly and ridiculous and has about a .001% chance of ever happening. Didn't stop me from signing it though of course I take that day off every year anyways.
-
Purdue gave that game away. In regulation, they turned it over 3 times in their last 4 possessions (and blew a 6 point lead). Then in OT, Purdue missed a front end with 12 seconds left, setting MI up for the win. Oh well. Badgers put themselves in this spot by playing so poorly over the course of 6 games. The loss to OSU especially, as they just gave that one away.
-
Interesting game to watch tonight. Scares me a little. Horrible in the first half, 26% shooting, 19 points. You can play that bad in the first half and beat IU. You do that in the tournament and you're likely going home. Then in the second half, they score 50 points on roughly 60% shooting and pull away. A lot of it boils down to just making shots, though some of it is attacking the hoop and getting to the line as well. Still a win, which is all that matters I guess.

Yeah, even if we wind up with the second worst record, the odds are very slim that we'd fall all the way to 5th. That would mean that neither the Bucks or the Sixers won any of the three lottery spots. Possible, but the odds are against it. The number one team has a 25% chance at the top pick, the #2 team 19.9%. That's for the top pick. After that one, let's say they get jumped, the odds get greater as that teams chances are removed. For awhile I wanted the Bucks to get number one because I had dreams of Wiggins or Parker in a Milwaukee uniform. But now, I'm pretty convinced that Hammond would blow the draft pick. So if we pick 2-3 and don't necessarily have to make a choice (and hopefully Embiid is gone), then that's fine with me too. With the players and contracts we have in place, taking a big man #1 is just absurd unless it's someone like Shaq. This team needs scoring and there are two potential superstar scorers in the draft IMO. If we're in the top 2, we better wind up with one of them.

It was Wisconsin, and it was actually about ten years ago. They had probably earned a 3-4 seed but instead dropped to a 6 and got placed in Milwaukee. Drawback was that they wound up playing Pittsburgh in round 2 as the 3 seed (and they were underseeded) and Wisconsin lost. It doesn't really guarantee anything obviously, but it's certainly a big advantage if they could wind up playing in Milwaukee. You are correct in that that type of scenario shouldn't happen any more. They do try to keep teams closer to home, but only the top four seed lines should be getting that type of benefit. As it stands now, you're probably exactly right. It would likely be both Michigan and Wisconsin in Milwaukee as 2/3 seeds. I think it's a longshot for WI to wind up with a one seed. Not impossible, but winning out likely isn't enough. They'd need some help with the other teams losing a few games. Florida and WSU are almost locks at this point. I would Kansas has likely sewn one up unless they drop 2-3 games here. That list looks accurate as far as who is in front of the Badgers, but I don't necessarily think we have enough to pass them, even with winning out.

I also got it yesterday. Tried it out a bit last night and this morning. I could access things to stream, but I did find that it would pause/freeze from time to time. Enough so that it became annoying. Most times it would only be a second or two, but some other times it would be for up to a minute. Also fast forwarding was a problem. Not sure if it's my internet connection or if it's a problem on their end. Hopefully it's just a matter of them working the kinks out. -
Problem is that the B10 title game ends so late, that the committee has more or less stated that it's hard for them to take that game into account. I find that to be ridiculous, but that's what they've said. I don't think a 1 seed is impossible but I think it would have to include winning the last 4 games, then obviously winning the tournament, probably needing to beat Michigan and MSU along the way. As it currently stand, we'd be the 3 seed and would play either Nebraska or Ohio State, which would be another nice win if they could get it. I still don't think they make a one seed unless a bunch of other teams falter, but it's not that far fetched. We're probably right around 7-9 on the S curve. Meaning we'd have to jump 3-5 other teams to make the one line (and not get passed from behind). Not impossible but we'd have to win out and probably get quite a bit of help.

Lunardi updated his bracket. Currently has Wisconsin as a 2 seed in the East against Vermont, with UConn/Pitt as the 7/10 matchup. He has them in Milwaukee. Syracuse is the 1 seed in that bracket, with Villanova as the 3. He also has Michigan in Milwaukee as a 3 seed. MSU fell to a 3 seed and moved out of Milwaukee. I really think it's between those 3 teams for the 2 spots in Milwaukee. Take care of business over the next 2 weeks and we should lock up one of those spots. To tack onto what JJ said, not only the wins you mention, we they've also beaten some other potential tournament teams like St. Johns and UWGB - away from the Kohl Center. I think that's getting overlooked. The depth and quality of wins is fantastic, and most of them came away from home (Floriday, MSU and Iowa are the only big home wins).
