  1. Agreed. It also makes injuries that much more of a factor. If someone on say, the Dodgers gets hurt and goes on the IL, he'd miss Both Brewers series with a minor injury. It also means some of the same pitching matchups could occur again - just not a fan. It definitely could have been avoided and hopefully fixed in the future.
  2. What's sad is he's far from being the only one who cares about this crap. Molina gets all pissy about this type of stuff. For instance. LaRussa could just imagine an insult and start directing his pitchers to throw at Brewers heads. It's not just the Cards, but they seem to be the most obvious. The Brewers, on the other hand, they're far from over the top, but they just have fun. Remember when them untucking their shirts got people riled up? I mean....seriously? Untucking your shirt after the final out is "feud" worthy. The chasm between football and baseball is laughable. You make a tackle after a gain of 6, down 28 and you do a dance or whatever. In baseball, if you hit a game-winning HR and don't put your head down and you show some emotion, you're breaking the unwritten rules. I'd have to agree with this. I mean, look at the NFL and NBA. Guys dunk on you....they stare you down or scream in your face. Guy hits a three and there's a huge variety of stuff guys do going back down the court. As you said, NFL guys do all kinds of stuff - not just for TD, but for normal stuff. But for some reason in baseball, everyone takes it personal. I get you don't want people blatantly showing up a pitcher (yelling or pointing at them for example), but watching a HR? Or tossing your bat? Who cares. Pitchers and catchers celebrate big K's to end innings or win games constantly - why is that OK but a hitter doing it is "breaking the unwritten rules"?
  3. It's been what....4 games? If he had started 0-12 with 8K would we be talking about how it was a great trade and that he'll never amount to anything?
  4. There's always schedule quirks (like having off every Thursday last September for example), but this years schedule certainly didn't to the Brewers any favors. April and May are brutal (on paper). I'm not a fan of essentially playing the same team almost back to back. Going @LAD, STL, LAD, @STL for the next two weeks is pretty silly IMO. There has to be ways to avoid things like that.
  5. I know they align it that way on purpose, but it would be nice to not have to face Quintana all the time. It would also be nice if the Brewers could get it out of their head that he's amazing or whatever the deal is. He's been fine but if you take out the games against the Brewers, he's been pretty average overall.
  6. Has anyone actually been able to exchange tickets without going through the rep? I have a 20 pack, I can't go to tomorrow's game. I tried to exchange them through the "my brewers tickets" website and it shows me my seats aren't available to be exchanged (NONE of my April games are except 4/20 for some reason). I know I can call/email my rep about it, it's just a bit of a hassle. I thought it would be setup to let me do it all myself, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Anyone actually done it?
  7. Agreed. Even if Graham is a shell of his former self, he's still worth way more than 1.67 million, especially given the insane contracts given out so far in FA. He's probably not worth 9 million or close to it, but when you look at those numbers, it makes way more sense to keep him than release him at this point.
  8. I'd be all for this, though I'd be surprised if they went this route. Our safeties simply weren't good last year. Maybe it's just me having wishful thinking but I feel like they're going to get Collins for some reason.
  9. Been some interesting names released recently. Justin Houston could be interesting. I'd love to get Collins or Thomas. There's so many safeties available that I'll be highly disappointed if we don't get one. Seems like a very easy fix and takes away one glaring need as draft time approaches. I'd also like to see them double up on edge rushers - at least one in FA and one in the draft (I like Burns).
  10. Vouchers are in increments of $5 usually, at least for me they are though I have seen $10. And you don't get change. So no sense using a voucher on a $3 purchase. If a beer is normally 10 bucks, SSH day it's $7.50, you'd pay $2.50 cash plus a $5 SSH voucher. Also you can't use them at Fridays and I don't think the walking vendors will take them. I think you have to actually go to a stand. That's all accurate. They're good at the stands or in the team stores. There's also no change, so as pointed out, if your purchase is $6, you'd only want to use one voucher and pay the difference in cash. You can the most bang for your buck on the SSH days obviously, as you can combine the two.
  11. They don't really attempt that many free throws though. They are 307th in free throws per field goal attempt. At least some of that has to be attributed to the fact that we constantly miss the front end of one and ones. It happens at least 2-3 times a game. Regardless of how many they shoot, the fact is that they are HORRIBLE from the FT line. Happ is the biggest problem obviously, but nobody is that good. It almost certainly cost them the Indiana game and probably 1-2 others that I'm blanking on. It's also made a lot of other games closer than they needed to be. It's reached the point where Happ can't even be on the floor the last 5-6 minutes. If it's close, I'm fouling him every time. He's at less than 40% of late - even in a double bonus, worst case you're likely giving up 1 point. Come tournament time, it's probably going to end their season.
  12. I got a letter yesterday with some free tickets in it for a game. It had a letter that you'll be notified of your SSH rewards in the next couple of weeks.
  13. Unless it's Bosa, I'd have a really hard time seeing the Packers give up a ton to move up into the top 5. And I HIGHLY doubt Bosa falls out of the top 2, though crazier things have happened I guess.
  14. I agree with this one. The "M" is more or less and advertisement for Miller. With that agreement ending, I'd imagine that logo isn't far behind. EVERYTHING I get from the Brewers is branded with the BIG logo, all of their press conferences use hats/jerseys with that logo. It's already happening more or less.
  15. It just went on sale this morning. The Brewers sent me an email at 9:03...saying it went on sale at 9am. Thanks for the notice. Not sure how many there are, probably less than last year, though I don't know that many people actually bought SRO tickets to many games already other than opening day. 16. I'd really read it as more of a 3 year contract. Unless he gets hurt or his performance really drops off, there's a very good chance he opts out. I can't remember anyone skipping the opt-out...CC and A-Rod come to mind as guys that opted out, got more money to stay with their current team.
  17. Has anyone heard if the Brewers will be offering the ballpark pass again for this upcoming season? I have a 20 pack of season tickets, but last year purchased the ballpark pass for $30/month and attended numerous other games throughout the season. It was a really good deal and I loved it. I can't find any information on it for this season. I've contacted my ticket rep directly (she didn't know), I've tried calling the ticket office (same answer). I've also even reached out to the Brewers on Twitter (no response). Maybe they haven't decided yet or haven't released any info on it, but figured I'd ask if anyone here had heard anything. Thanks!
  18. Marquette is definitely out front for the BE title and controls their own fate for it. They can even afford to slip up at Nova this week and still win it outright. Granted, I don't think the BE is great this year, but it's still a nice accomplishment and I think the league is slightly better than it gets credit for.
  19. Yeah, it was definitely very close. You have to assume that in most situations, the Bucks are going to wind it down and at least get a shot off - if they had taken it at one, travels to the rim, then grab a rebound, you're probably left with 2 seconds left at most. While that's plenty of time to get a shot given the timeout advance rule, it's certainly dicey. Not to mention - the Bucks could have made it, the Bucks could get the rebound or the ball gets batted around and takes up even more time. I agree I think I would have really pressured the ball and if I got a foul, so be it. But it worked out perfectly for them, glad they missed the shot to win it.
  20. Not a very good sequence at the end for the Bucks - gave up an easy layup with 27 seconds left then had a pretty awful last possession that lead to the jump ball. Did play pretty good defense on the last play though. I think this is a good game for the Bucks. This group (this year at least) hasn't really had many close games and it feels like the ones that have been close, they've lost (Clippers, Knicks, Suns come to mind). After the first round of the playoffs, they aren't likely to get many blowouts or score as much as the defense gets better. Winning grinders and learning to close out close games down the stretch against good teams is something they could use a bit more experience with IMO. Overall though, really nice win to start the last stretch of the season here. They have some tough road games coming up, so hopefully they can continue to get wins. Be nice if Toronto could start losing a few more games. Unlike the Bucks, they've been in a lot of tight games of late and have come out ahead in almost all of them. Hopefully that starts to swing the other way.
  21. Marquette is out in front of the BE standings right now. Got some tough games coming up though. They've had some offensive struggles in the first half of games lately - that's a tad concerning. Not sure if they're coming out flat or just missing shots (seems to be the latter).
  22. He'll probably cut into a combination of Snell, Wilson and Brown. Which makes perfect sense. That said, I think all 3, particularly Wilson will be have roles come playoff times. Wilson can bring energy, defense and rebounding off the bench, if only for a few minutes. Stunning to write that after his first season here.
  23. They would have to renounce Bledsoe or Middleton's cap holds, meaning they could not resign them. They wouldn't have any money beyond the tax payer MLE to pay for Lopez (about 5.6 M). To resign the player they didn't renounce, as well as Brogdon and Mirotic, they have unlimited $, assuming the owners are willing to pay the luxury tax. Without Hill and Middleton, they have $59m in salary + dead money and about $40m in cap space. An unrestricted free agent would barely fit into that with the low cap holds on Brogdon, a draft pick, and a bunch of minimum salaries as placeholders for vacant roster spots. They would have to clear a significant amount of salary just to keep one cap hold on Mirotic, Bledsoe, or Middleton. Since unrestricted max free agents start at roughly $30m per year or more, they'd basically have to clear Snell and Ersan before free agency in order to keep a cap hold on Mirotic, Bledsoe, or Khris. It gets worse though. You can't use all your cap space unless you renounce your exceptions. That's a fact that I have never seen anyone else mention or be aware of in all my years of posting on RealGM and reading up on the CBA on basketball hype sites. You have to go straight to the source: http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q26 "If a team is below the cap, then its Disabled Player, Bi-Annual, Mid-Level (either the Taxpayer or Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level, whichever applies to the team) and/or trade exceptions are added to their team salary, and the league treats the team as though they are over the cap. This is to prevent a loophole, in a manner similar to free agent amounts (see question number 37). A team can't act like it's under the cap and sign free agents using cap room, and then use its Disabled Player, Bi-Annual, Mid-Level and/or trade exceptions. Consequently, the exceptions are added to the team salary (putting the team over the cap) if the team is under the cap and adding the exceptions puts them over the cap. If a team is already over the cap, then the exceptions are not added to their team salary. There would be no point in doing so, since there is no cap room for signing free agents. ... A team has the option to renounce its exceptions in order to reclaim its cap room." That's worded a little ambiguously in cases where adding the exceptions still doesn't put a team over the cap, but I'm pretty sure it applies to all teams under the cap. So no Lopez either if you want an outside free agent, unless he signs for a contract similar to this year's salary (no way that happens the way he's been playing). I keep trying to explain why the team just has to forget about free agency and pay the tax to keep everyone, but everyone is working on a woefully incomplete understanding of the CBA. That's understandable since it's exceedingly complex, but I've read all parts of the CBA that pertain to player transactions, and though I've forgotten a fair amount of it, I still have a lot of insight to add in that department. Brogdon is the only guy who could fit with a star outside free agent, and even that's cutting it close when you count the cap hold on a draft pick and automatic cap holds on vacant roster spots. If they don't clear a little more salary before free agency (Snell or Ersan to a team with cap space, or combine one of them with a pick to clear salary), they might not even be able to keep Brogdon. But the great thing is they can keep everyone on the team right now except maybe Lopez (if he demands more than the tax-payer MLE) if they are willing to pay the tax. Option A: Mirotic Bledsoe Middleton Lopez Brogdon And even Hill if they're willing to pay a lot of luxury tax Option B: Durant/Kyrie/Kawhi maybe Brogdon if they're lucky If you think option B is remotely as good as option A, how do you figure this team has the best record in the NBA and has a strong chance of being the 12th team in NBA history to finish the season with a +10 ppg scoring differential? Is Giannis worth two Olajuwons? It would be Giannis + Durant + the worst supporting cast in NBA history. No way that's a contender. The closest comparison to that kind of star power with such a horrible supporting cast would be Stockton/Malone. They lost in the first or second round 15 out of 20 seasons together (often to other forgettable playoff teams I might add, though admittedly they weren't the stars of the team right away) and never had a team that was as good as the Bucks are right now. And even their pathetic supporting casts were a lot better than the Bucks would be (Eaton, Dantley, Rickey Green, Hornacek, and Kirilenko were all-stars at some point, while Mark Jackson, Harpring, Bryon Russell, and Donyell Marshall were pretty good role players). Thanks for explaining all of this. So...what about other free agents? Not max guys per say but middle-upper tier others. Are we pretty much in the same boat? I kinda read this that we're kinda stuck with what we have outside of the MLE (if Lopez doesn't take it?). Thoughts?
  24. Then he should fire his agent. Though I doubt the Brewers pick up their end of the option anyways. At some point, it becomes "do I want to play this year or not"? If the market just isn't there an 8 million is all he can get, then that's better than the alternative option of not playing. Sooner or later he's going to have to make that decision. There's always a chance that a loser in the Machado sweepstakes comes after him or that someone gets hurt in ST, but a LOT of teams have already filled their infield spots. He may very well have to take whatever he can get, even if it hurts his pride/ego a bit (like he did last year). But he 100% should fire his agent IMO.
  25. Yes, this happened a couple of months ago. http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/nba-news-relieves-bucks-of-mirza-teletovic-contract-after-career-ending-injury/1d8ft7y2lz11b13nrkpmdxb0nw
