  1. The team is so much better with Leuer on the floor instead of Gooden. It's laughable. I'm stunned Skiles is playing Leuer this much. At this point I hope they continue to give Leuer, Sanders and Harris meaningful minutes just to see what they can do - guys like Dunleavy and Gooden can ride the pine for all I care.
  2. Well whatever happened, he went from 4/44 to 1/8, that's a pretty significant dropoff. Sure, he could perform great and windup with a big payday next year. But he could also suck or get hurt and never see anything close to 44 million.
  3. Nice move for the Reds, yes, for Boras/Madson, they wind up looking pretty silly for turning down the Phillies offer.
  4. For anyone that's interested....the Tough Mudder is back in WI in September. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to do it again. http://toughmudder.com/events/wisconsin-2012/
  5. He may not be running out persay, but some teams he was likely counting on are starting to fill 1b with other players. The Brewers would have to make moves to afford him at this point but you wonder if this drags on a few more weeks if they at least explore the option of resuming talks with him - certainly not on an 8-10 year deal but maybe he would be more open to 5 or 6 at that point. I know it's all about money for him at this point but if he winds up in say Baltimore or Toronto for like 20 mil a year, you gotta wonder if he will regret not staying in Milwaukee for the same amount.
  6. I'm with you on Leuer, I just hope he continues to get minutes once everyone is healthy. Once Bogut returns, Harris starts playing, etc....I have a feeling he gets stuck on the end of the bench, which will give me almost no reason to watch at all.
  7. This is the same story as the last 5 years. They show a few good signs, glimpses that they might not completely suck, then they go out and just simply find ways to NOT win games.
  8. This is simply not true, it is choice he has made. While he may have good or at least strategic reasons for not speaking, there is nothing preventing him from saying, for example "I was taking X because _____ and this is what cause the test results". The best thing he can do is come out, admit to everything and be completely honest. The situation will die a lot faster if he tells the whole truth. Sure, he COULD say something, but as you've pointed out, he would be incredibly dumb to do so. Why give the MLB attorneys that much more time to prepare for his defense? Asking him to come out and tell his story now is just not a realistic thing.
  9. MLB never announced because Braun appealed - had he not, they would have announced it by now. This is not a criminal case and should not be compared to one at all. Braun failed his test - that's when the guilty verdict came in if you really want to compare this to a criminal court case. When he was informed he failed and was going to be suspended under MLB's drug policy, he chose to appeal - an appeal is when a verdict is challenged. As for his defense, we have no idea what it is because Braun isn't talking - FWIW I'm not a fan of this either although I do understand it from a legal standpoint. People on here really need to face facts and stop treating Braun like a victim - I hope to heck his story holds up, but I have major doubts in large part because the testosterone was synthetic. He's a victim IF he wins his appeal. If he wins the appeal, NONE of this should have ever been public knowledge. Now, even if he wins, a lot of people will fully view him as a cheater. He's also being dragged through the mud but can't defend himself in public due to the appeals process pending.
  10. Until someone quotes an MLB source as saying Braun will win his appeal there is really no point in these stories. Obviously anyone connected to Braun or any sources that know him or whatnot are going to say this. The truth is, nobody knows anything at this point and unless MLB is dropping the suspension (virtually impossible at this point), everything is just completely made up really. I wish we could at least know when this appeal was going to occur so we can all stop wondering about it.
  11. More sources today indicating that the Cubs are definitely out on Fielder. We'll see. I don't have the link but it's on the JSonline blog area. If he winds up in a place like say Baltimore, I think he may very well regret not resigning here. But we'll never know I guess. He made his bed, now he'll have to lie in it.
  12. How did this thread get turn into discussing the merits of the crappy news reporting in Milwaukee?
  13. If it is true, how do you NOT inform them? Simple procedure and he's in the clear. That is an oversite that is just not excusable and I fail to see how he could possibly get off.
  14. The Bucks have depth, but in my opinion, all of the depth is basically the same - mediocre players. The Bucks are just in a bad spot, spinning the wheels. They're not horrible enough to get a top 3 pick and get a superstar player but they look just good enough on paper to maybe contend for the bottom playoff spots and get knocked out in the first round. They've been here for years, just keep filling in spots with guys, try to patch it together and make the playoffs, but they never really did a rebuild like they need to. Bucks only shot is to be horrid for 2-3 years and nail the draft picks that come with that. All Hammond does every year is seem to attempt to fix whatever mistake he made the year before (Jefferson, Maggette are examples).
  15. The real story won't come out until the appeals process is over and maybe ruled on - and even then it may not. Regardless if he is guilty or not, whoever leaked this information should be fired.
  16. While the herpes thing is probably a longshot, I wouldn't take anything Trenni says as denying it. First off, nobody on the team is going to speak to it, they can't. Secondly, I would hardly call her an investigative reporter or really not much more than a sideline person. She might have sources but her saying it's not true means virtually nothing to me. Like I said, it's probably not true but until the Braun camp actually denies it, I think it's going to carry some merit. It does at least fall under the "highly unusual circumstances".
  17. Even if we wanted to bring in Hall, would he actually want to return? Doesn't seem like he left on the greatest terms. Seems like he'd only come here as a last resort, if we even wanted him that is, which I'm not really sure we would have even the slightest interest. Though he can play all over the field, which is something we do need.
  18. So let's just say that the rumors are in fact true and that Braun has herpes and some sort of medication gave him the positive result. Is this a reasonable offense? If he was taking a legal drug that he had a prescription for, shouldn't he have just indicated to MLB he was getting that and be done with it? Or is there something I'm missing here? He can't be the only MLB player that has herpes, I just don't believe that. And if it really is his medication, how exactly would he prove that those meds caused his results and not something else? Shouldn't his second test have been positive too, or is that a medication that only is needed in the event of a flare up? I'm not an expert on this by any means but this defense seems very, very odd to me. I just hope it's somehow enough to get the suspension nixed and to clear his name.
  19. I assume you can't share your sources and obviously can't share the stories. But based upon what you know or what you've been told, do you think that his story will actually give him a chance to win this case?
  20. Well having another guy to "share" the 7th with Loe is a good thing as RR won't hesititate to ride him into the ground given the chance. I also don't know why everyone is so broken up over Saito. Yeah, he was good for the most part last year, but he is 42, getting injured more frequently and only pitched in 30 innings total last year and couldn't pitch back to back days. We had virtually no use for Casey at this point other than backup (and even that was pushing it really) so we got a serviceable (though maybe slightly average) bullpen guy that we needed. Basically got something we needed for somebody we might very well have released anyway.
  21. I think it's a tad early for this. We have to at least wait until the appeal process, all the facts come out and we can really hear the entire story, whatever it may be.
  22. I'm completely against the idea of super teams and star players forcing trades to basically the exact team they want (see Anthony, Carmelo)...but this trade seemed somewhat fair. I mean, they aren't going to get someone as good as Paul back, given his contract situation and talent level but I thought NO did a good job getting some solid players they could use this year, as well as a first round pick.
  23. As in, he only gave us the triple crown information - batting average, HR, and RBI. While those numbers are nice to know, the kid isn't a power hitter. I think he's saying we'd rather see things like OBP, errors made or steals or something to show casual readers why they should even care about us picking this guy.
  24. Well considering we had to give them a pick just to take Dooling, I would say it's pretty terrible he was even on our roster in the first place. We literally had to give up something of value just to get rid of him and got nothing at all in return.
  25. Bucks to sign Mike Dunleavy, Jr. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/135270473.html This move makes very little sense to me. He's really not very good...and we already have way too many marginal forwards on the roster. This move takes away playing time from rookies like Sanders, Leuer and Harris. Why bother to draft young players like that if you give them almost no chance to see any playing time of any meaning.
