  1. That's right. Because he's Cooper friggin' PRATT!
  2. THIS. AND, I go back to: why is Di Turi even playing as a starter in this game. The ACL hype has worn off. Play the best playing players. This is the playoffs. This isn't Tee-Ball.
  3. Di Turi stepping across home plate to get a catcher's interference call in the 8th inning sums up Di Turi's past two months in a nutshell. And, yet, here we are and he is starting this playoff game. Technical call. Should it happen in the 8th inning of a playoff game? Maybe not. BUT, Di Turi has not been good for over two months. Meanwhile my guy, Briceno is glued to the bench. Sigh. Just sigh.
  4. I had to do a proverbial hay bale of farm chores there. Paused all games. See Yoho take a comebacker and pulled (looked very pre-cautionary). Not going to look at comments 😅. I"ll catch up after watching these finishes.
  5. The 6-5 situation is one thing. BUT, after Austin walks that next batter in a really weak display. In the very least, visit the mound. Get that pitcher up right there. Another runner gets aboard? I'm pulling him.
  6. This right here is my gripe with manager Nick Stanley. Right here. You need to get a pitcher up after those bad luck hits. Know the situation. After that two out walk post-DP. You need to pull Austin. Stanley does not know how to aggressively manage the Pen. Young manager. I get it. BUT, that was not a well-managed situation.
  7. He was up 1-2. He didn't walk them full btw. He gave it up via a single to RF. Tie game. UGLY stuff.
  8. Manfredi gets up 0-2 on his next batter. He shuts the door on a swinging K. THAT IS STEPPING UP. GLORIOUS.
  9. Runner takes 2B easily on a throw from Garcia's knees. Weak two bouncer. Austin has to buckle down. Slider outside. 1-2. He lays off. Tense moments. Change-up low. No nibbles. Nice pitch. 2-2. High outside heater - just missed. 3-2. Whewwww. Walk. Jeeeeeze. LHP Mark Manfredi comes aboard and walks his batter on five pitches as well. Come on, MEN! Step UP!
  10. Another two out walk for Cornielle. He keeps playing with fire. So far he's escaped unscathed. Bottom of the sixth. Pitch count at 98. They'll bring Manfredi on. Massive effort from Cornielle. What you can't have Mr. Austin is a free pass after that DP. That's where you lose me.
  11. They get the DP. Huge. 6-5 lead. You take that any day of the week. Tough luck inning. You work with the hand you're dealt. Austin deserved better here. Now, just get out of the frame.
  12. A run crosses. The ball has not left the infield. They're going to call that an error too but these are just ridiculous balls to deal with. Absurdly slow rollers. Baez had a 94 mph high hop off his mid-section. That one died and rolled under the glove. But, again, these are 50/50 plays. I don't agree with the scoring decisions. But, I understand them. 6-4 game now. Nobody out. Runners on the corners.
  13. It was one of those hospital balls. Is what it is. I agree with you: Catcher needs to take that play but Austin got to the ball first. It's just scientifically an easier play to make when you are sprinting forward. Alas, here we are. Nobody out. Men on 2nd and 3rd. 2-2 count.
  14. Garcia has a double steal going on and while trying to throw to 3B hit the batter somehow. A cut on the right hand it appears. Runners both advance. Nobody out. I think this will be fixable and he'll stay. 2-2 count. Sounds send in another via sac fly. Zamora. 5-3 now. One down.
  15. A swinging bunt dribbler. Two on. Yuck. Nobody out. Men on 1st and 2nd. That ball was hit about 10 mph. Meanwhile Sounds score on a <wait for it> Navs single through the 3B/SS hole. 5-2.
  16. Sounds trailing 5-1 after stranding two the inning before. Roller dumps a single into shallow LF over the leaping 3B and men are now on the corners with nobody out. 4th inning.
  17. Yeah. I don't know about that scoring decision. That ball was ripped. It high hopped off his mid-section. 94 mph bounce. Rough either way. The ball jumped on him. He kept it in front of him. Had to throw on the run across his body. I'm fine with that play.
  18. It's looking like the bullpen doors will swing open for RHP Morris Austin.
  19. Corniel opens the 6th with a weakly hit single down the 3B line. That'll like be his night. The run of excellence will end. Man, what a gritty performance! Hats are off, young man. We see you.
  20. Cornielle gets up 0-2. Ball in the dirt doesn't get the check swing strike. Rodriguez back checks 1B but he's safe. 1-2 count. Outside slider fouled off to 3B side. Another slider low. He gets the foul down the 1B side. Nivens is a major threat. This is as tough as it gets in High-A as a pitcher. He is a major long ball threat in this second half. Pitch count now at 81. 1-2 count. Breaking ball high and outside. Fouled back again into the stands beyond 3B. 8 pitch battle now. Heater high and inside. Fouled hard down the 1B line. WHewwww. 9-pitch AB now. Change-up tailing low inside. Fouled down the 1B line. 6 consecutive fouls. 10 pitches coming. Pitch count over 85. High outside heater. 2-2. What an AB. He gets the K swinging on a gorgeous inside slider. Whewwwwww. Fifth K.
  21. Cornielle, pitch count now at 72 in the fifth., opens his inning with two straight ground outs. Opens next batter to an 0-2 count - K swinging inside heater. K looking gorgeous change-up. Corks a ball into the dirt and it bounces 13 feet in the air. 1-2. Bloop snort into shallow right CF. Man on.
  22. That's now 4 straight K for this Nats reliever. He's mowing em down.
  23. He absolutely does this. He's prone to bad innings. It's a matter of how bad. But, he can absolutely shut it down like this. You just never know how bad that one inning will be. Just a major credit to him for his resilience and ability to come back ripping darts.
  24. Next batter? Two swinging K's on sliders. 0-2 count. Disengagement by Green (standard by him). Pitch count 78. Slider. Weak ground out to Guilarte. Three up. Three down!
