Epic way to finish, men! LOVE this' Man, Roller had an awesome September. Good for him! -
We can be near certain to see LHP Bryan Hudson get one more stint to work on that sweeper. This is day 4 removed from his last appearance. Mcgee is more than likely shooting for a 2.0-3.0 IP start (he did pitch a season high 3 2/3 IP back in early August) in what is essentially a rehab year coming off that TJ last spring. Let's hope he ends strong! One has to think McWilliams was called up as, generally, a fresh arm to handle a late inning in this bullpen special. Beyond that, I have to think McKendry is available as a possible inning-eater and RHP Shane Smith will likely appear for his last work of the 2024 regular season. Big moment for Yerzy in what has essentially been a lost season.

Two men on and the Sounds have added a run in the top of the 9th. They lead 6-1. Really nice to see them turn it around after a heartbreaking two-game double-header loss and then the bullpen meltdown (of sorts) in game 3. Assuming they hold on, they now have a chance to end their season with a series split. Would be awesome to end on a three game win streak.

Could certainly happen. I just look at the double-function angle of getting in good graces with high-end players or coveted end-of-roster candidates who need Rule 5 protection, regardless. Patrick, Henderson, and Martinez Jr. all fit that bill. I lean Patrick given he's been phenomenal in the past 3 starts. He's K'd 6 tonight already through 4 IP working around a Solo Jack from a rehabbing Westburg (they're playing the Tides - Orioles Triple-A affiliate). That's 26 K over the past 16 IP with 1 ER allowed. Stellar output. Getting hot at the perfect time. Patrick is very much a guy who could repeat what we're seeing with Myers in 2025. Doesn't have the high-end velo Myers has but has a deeper pitch mix with a fabulous cutter.

Mejía has very sneakily had a fantastic season at the dish as a rotation backstop with the Sounds. It has been a joy having both he and Navs as the primary backstops in the second half.

This outing further confirms for me: Patrick is likely the call-up. He can pitch in the final weekend of the Brewers regular season. He faces the Pirates on the last game of a 3-game series or he is a starter or middle innings eater vs the Mets who they may face in the WC round. He is then on-roster and avoids Rule 5 entirely.

Naturally, Westburg gets his revenge: Solo jack to open the 3rd. 1-1 game.

RHP Chad Patrick has now K'd 24 batters over his last 14 IP as a starter. 0 ER. 5 H, 1 BB over that same span. Absolutely en fuego.

This is awesome btw. It is so abundantly obvious Hunt is different. He wants those big moments. He talks about talking with his Dad pre-game (he was in the stands) about needing to find his edge. He felt he wasn't as sharp the past couple outings. He sought it out. He was at the field, showered, and in full uniform 2.5 hours before the game warming up in the bullpen. He is a special special arm to have in the system. Credits the Brewers org for helping him evolve into a Starter. He is very excited for next season.

Tyler Black goes yard for the first time since August 27th (and his 13th of his season). Sounds lead 1-0.

Well, the Shuckers season is officially over. That was a very challenging season to watch from start-to-finish. Really happy for them that they stole one in the Divisional series - really glad Hunt got that moment to shine. As a whole, however, the team itself was quite easily the most frustrating team in the entire system to watch on a weekly basis. There was a stretch early in the season where I couldn't even watch their games - they were mired in an awful funk and they then had that CF camera issue. They were just so frustratingly inconsistent. Big names underperforming. Erratic mostly low-scoring offense. Starting rotation constantly shuffling - injuries and promotions. The bullpen was their strength but then they got pilfered in the starting circus. All this to say: I did indeed officially write my last report of 2024 on Wednesday. 😅

This is most definitely an issue. Zoinks. Thanks for the reminder. It'll certainly be interesting to see how his off-season pans out. I'm sure the Brewers will be having conversations with his Agents but, given the lack of options, I'd be very curious to hear what those actual conversations are.

I have to absolutely think the Brewers are going to approach his agent about a potential new deal for 2025. You just can not ignore what he's done as a starter for the past two months. He has been brilliant.

What a disastrous outing for LHP Nate Peterson. Man, he just couldn't put it together this year but for a couple starts or outings here and there. Wildly inconsistent. Yeager just entered in the 8th and went single, two-run HR, double. Yikes. 8-2. Nobody out. Man on 2nd. Biscuits sprinting toward the Championship round.

I thought about Henderson but I see a tired pitcher. This is the first time in his career exceeding 80 IP. His velo is down a tick. He is essentially a heater/change-up guy at present. I don't think they do it. But, you could be right.

He's been on, essentially, a 5-to-7 day schedule between starts. He last pitched on the 15th. So, in theory he could take a Start for the Crew - if need be - some time in the next day or two. Or, in the very least, serve as an intentional long man out of the Pen in, say, an abbreviated Rea start (if they potentially continue to aim toward using him out of the Pen as a multiple inning guy in the post-season).

Obviously, they could go Yoho or Miz here but I just don't think they're going to force that hand given the issues each has shown of late. They need guys who can eat innings if needed. My dark horse guess: RHP Chad Patrick 13-1 season with a 2.95 ERA and 1.10 WHIP at Triple-A Nashville in 25 starts. His last two starts? 12 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 20 K, 0 R His stuff has looked its best and most composed all season in the last two weeks and he's had an unbelievably productive year. This move would also ensure he's protected from Rule 5. Shot in the dark guess here.

They need inning eaters. Herget has options. Makes sense. Tho, obviously, this stinks for Paredes who has pitched very well the entire season. I would have to think he'll get claimed by a lesser org (?) given his early season peripherals pre-injury. I could be very wrong here, obviously. Herget has pitched quite well as a whole at Nashville for a significant period of time. Very very curious how they choose to use that open roster spot.

Those infield errors have really cost the Sounds in 2-of-3 games I've watched. Both immediately ended in run-scoring karma. No error was charged to Arroyo in game one but it should have been. His brief mishandle and bobble led to the lead runner getting aboard vs Hudson. That runner tied the game. Cruel game!

About last night @ Montgomery... RHP K.C. Hunt is an absolute STUD. Been saying it since his very first relief outing @ Zebulon earlier this season. Been pounding the drum all season long. I mean, look at that swagger. The man absolutely knows. AND, I am absolutely here to witness in continued awe. He is dripping confidence.

The Sounds are 0-3 to start their season-ending series @ Norfolk. They've blown leads in every tilt as they wind down their season. Can RHP Mitch White continue his fantastic run of starts? As we've discussed ad nauseam of late, he has been a true Ace over the past month plus starting for the Sounds. In Biloxi, it's a make or break game three @ Montgomery with their three-game series knotted at 1-1. It'll be in the hands of LHP Nate Peterson to start things off. He's been much better of late but he did regress to giving up the long ball again in his last outing. This is obviously his most important start of his season.

It was just really weird. It was just so obvious he, in the very least, needed to be given the High-A challenge. With Clemmey, the walk issues were a real thing. Facing Low-A hitters made sense as he hadn't really found consistency in and around the zone - we saw this to a 'T' in the Mudcats' Game 1. With Sykora? My goodness. It was such an overmatch. Just a really strange decisions within the Nationals' org to keep him in Low-A the entire season. I'm sure they had their reasons (and, we are probably uninformed here?) but from an outside observer it was just an odd approach from the jump.
