    No Adams, Burke, Areinamo, or Pratt makes for a very challenged T-Rats line-up. That's a lot of T-Rats juice sitting on the sidelines.

    Currently a 1/2 G lead on the Phillies for the coveted #2 spot. I would absolutely not want to be making the bullpen roster decisions moving forward. It's an absolute smorgasbord of better options in Nashville at present to bolster the Pen for the playoff push and into the playoffs. Paredes, Peguero, Ashby, Miz, and Yoho could legitimately swap out over half the MLB Pens currently rostered. Ashby has been absolutely revelatory his past five outings and last night sat 97 and touched 98 - 98.5 mph on that sinker on several occasions. Dare I say he is absolutely back? This is a good problem to have overall but, again, the entire decision-making process is way above my pay grade. I just hope they can press the right buttons.

    The Muddies just lost their 3-2 lead in the top of the 7th on a two-run double off of RHP Morris Austin - tho, it should be added, there was some type of fielding error on LF Yoshwar Garcia during the play. 1B Miguel Briceno (the utility knife in the Mudcats clubhouse) just ripped a one out double in the bottom of the same 7th inning. Let's hope the Muddies can pull this out. They trail 4-3.

    The Sounds will look to keep the good times rolling in Nashville as they pulled within 4.0 G of first place Columbus with last night's Mitch White master class. The bullpen, like down yonder in Biloxi, remains an absolute force. LHP DL Hall will look to keep his run of recent success - at the Triple-A and MLB levels - going strong as he aims for that call-up to avoid a wasted option year. 2B Christian Arroyo is back in the line-up as he swaps out Patrick Dorrian from his two consecutive game stint. C Brian Navarreto is again manning the back-stop looking to flaunt his clutch bat and defensive prowess. Isaac Collins continues his defensive merry-go-round manning the hot corner while we see the return of LF Tyler Black. Let's root the on the Sounds as they look to continue an improbable, but certainly possible, charge toward a second half playoff berth. Just give a lead to this version of the Sounds bullpen and the rest will likely take care of itself.

    The question remains: Will the Shuckers offense ever give talented RHP K.C. Hunt any meaningful run-production? Tonight would be a fantastic time to start a new trend. After last night's 1-0 nail biter, we sure could use another outburst. More importantly, perhaps, can the Shuckers keep adding to their second half lead toward an elusive playoff berth?! All these questions and more are swirling in the currents of the Southern League. 3B Brock Wilken is back again at the hot corner - can he break through to set the tone for a better September? DH Dylan O'Rae is a base stealing machine - he's really come on some these past two contests. Is this fleeting or a new foundation? SS Eric Brown Jr. hit the key triple before the first-pitch OF Lamar Sparks (back in RF) single to score the winning and only run last night. 2B Ethan Murray is in the midst of a <gasp> five game hitting streak and has hit safely in 6-of-7 of his last seven games. The Shuckers will need all hands on deck as they face a very pesky Barrons squad for game 5. The series is currently split 2-2.

    Here is your T-Rats lineup card for Saturday night with one change as alluded to by announcer Chris Mehring. LF Hedbert Perez looks to continue his run of offensive production since his recent debut. Can 2B Felix Valerio start producing at the dish? Notable is are the continued absences of 1B Blake Burke and 1B/3B Luke Adams. Those are pretty big holes to fill but the T-Rats have indeed pulled even at 2-2 in this six game series thanks to last night's shellacking. Let's hope for three in a row at Great Lakes!

    The Mudcats are underway and here's their lineup card for those interested. Bitonti and Yophery are both back in the line-up while Bitonti gets a chance back at his old familiar hot corner stomping grounds. Baez moves to 2B. RHP Bishop Letson is back on the bump. The Muddies will look to bounce back from last night's 6-3 loss.

    One think I hadn't considered until now, however, is Anders has never missed a FG in Brazil. Perhaps, he is our Portuguese 'Man of War'?!?

    Indeed. AND, yet Carlson has been missing XP's like they are giveaways. HOWEVER, it is important to note: he was 14-of-14 between 30-39 yards last season. His FG issues were largely that 40-48 yard zone. OR, maybe he's just an insanely erratic kicker and has been since he kicked in college. There is also that. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck...you know the rest.

    Carlson's XP % last season (Extra Point!!) would have placed 14th amongst active kickers with 20 or more attempts if we simply considered them actual field goals. THAT is insanity. This is why I've been so vocal about Carlson and the FG kicking unit as an entity. Everything ST was supposed to improve measurably with Bisaccia who was promoted to assistant HC. All we've seen is a very sub-par ST unit as a whole and a hand-selected kicker who is one of the worst kickers in the NFL. It's a total quagmire.

    A 7-1 mark through games 2 and 3 sure feels really good. It's hard to convey how absolutely huge last night's 'W' was for Biloxi. Their pitching staff continues to do some extremely heavy lifting and it's important to remember that Barrons bullpen is no joke - they've been dominant essentially the entire season. BUT, as I've been saying for the past two months: the Shuckers bullpen is the team's lifeblood. Coming into tonight's contest, after last night's 1-0 pitchers duel (described above), 61 of the Shuckers 115 games have been decided by two runs or less. Naturally, I manually looked at this last night after I asked "2-7 in one run games? How many two run games have they had?! It feels like a lot." and then it's featured in today's 'Game Notes'!!😅 Could have saved myself some scrolling and tallying. None the less, after last night the Shuckers Pen boasts a 3.25 ERA on the season in 495 1/3 IP. 582 K. 174 BB. Such an underrated group.

    I've been saying the exact same thing since his Biloxi days. When Frelick puts it into a throw, his arm is a cannon. I don't buy any of the average arm nonsense. I've seen him uncork absolute darts from RF to 3B on several occasions. We may not get it all the time but that is a plus arm for the most part in my book.

    Oh I get it. I'm not saying they're wrong. Contreras is calling in a world of his own right now in random spots and it hasn't led to good results. Play to the advantages. Always. Live and die by leaning into strengths.

    I just saw Civale's pitch breakdown of his struggle-filled 4th. I can already see the follow-up Spencer and Stearn tweets and cover stories about Contreras' pitch calling in 3...2...1 😅

    Both the Braves and the Wahoos lost tonight so that's a 2.5 G lead over Mississippi and a 3.0 G lead over the Wahoos. As we know, the Biscuits are already buttered up for the playoffs having won the first half. They are irrelevant (tho they've won 3 straight and technically are 1/2 G ahead of the Shuckers).

    Yes sir. Gorgeous slider. Dipped below the belt and to the knees. Perfect location. Set up with high and inside heat. THAT is how it is done. Man, he got away with a hanging curve and a hanging slider in that inning. We'll take it!

    He gets the swinging K. YES SIR! THERE is the slider location. Gorgeous pitch. 15th Save of his season. Outer black dipped below the belt. THAT was the location and execution. Shuckers WIN. They are now up 2.5 G on the Playoff spot!

    He hangs a dead center slider on the very next pitch and gets away with it. Man, those were two really poor pitches in this scenario. Thank the heavens he got away with that. Whewwww. Flies out to LF. Runners on 1st and 2nd. Two down.

    Yeager hangs a dead center curve. Casual line drive poke to RF. Men on 1st and 2nd. That was a poor pitch. He got lucky that wasn't more damage. Yeeeesh.

    The only 1 run win the Shuckers have experienced in 8 such opportunities in 2024 was the second game of their season. It was a Freddy Zamora solo jack if any of you recall. Time to make it a 2-7 mark Mr. Yeager. He gets the fly out to left CF and O'Rae easily grabs it. He falls behind 2-0 to the next batter but gets a slider across. Then gets a foul back on an outside heater. It's 2-2 now. One down. He misses well up and in at 95.05 mph for a full count. He misses low and can't get the chase on another low dipping slider in the dirt. That's two walks via that same miss. Tying runner is aboard with one down.
