  1. 1 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 R. 15 pitches. 12 strikes. Gorgeous work. Now, did only manage one swing and miss in 10 swings. Averaged 100.9 mph exit velo on the cutter with a 109 mph off the cutter in there as well. BUT, who cares, that's a huge moment for the young man.
  2. EPIC EPIC EPIC season for Lazar. What an incredible story. So proud of that young man. Man, I was really sad when we lost him to ML FA. BUT, clearly it has worked out in all the right ways for Max who has hit an entirely different level in 2024. SO happy for him. RHP TJ Shook has now gone three consecutive scoreless Saves in his first 3 SVO in 2024 (all in August) - 1.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K, 0 R, 1 SV. Since joining Binghamton he has gone five consecutive scoreless outings. 8 IP, 10 K, 3 BB, 3 H, 0 R. I will continue to not understand that trade whatsoever. Didn't make sense the day of the trade. Doesn't make sense now. It's odd when the Brewers, an organization so adept at identifying and developing pitching talent, let guys like LHP Justin King (literally in King's case) and RHP TJ Shook go. I feel as though they never really understood what they had in either case. Regardless, extremely happy to see both young man crushing it in their next opportunities. King gave up his first run as a Blue Wahoo tonight. However, he's pitched in 8 games since he signed with the Wahoos. 7 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 HB, 14 K, 1 ER. He's been absolutely fantastic. I don't know what was going on for the talented lefty in Biloxi but he's always had the talent and he has really put together a master class since moving just down the way in Pensacola. Very very happy for him.

  4. I don't know. Payamps has pretty dang dependable since that 3-run hiccup. Off the top of my head maybe 1 ER in like 10-12 outings? That's nothing to scoff at.
  5. Yeah. And, that makes sense. I haven't been all that enthused by what I've seen from Hudson <sad face 1>. I keep waiting for Hall to take that next step. Haven't seen it <sad face 2>. IF they get the Mix right - leading with off-speed and using the 4-seamer as an honesty pitch - I think they can make it work for 4 innings. Unless, of course, we are seeing that coveted movement early in the outing. I mean we can celebrate a 94.5-96 mph heater for Hall like several on the Beat have done but that just doesn't mean much if the life of the pitch is a flatline. Thems are just the facts. I had been more impressed by what I'd seen from JB Bukauskas than what I had seen from Hudson - naturally, he took that come backer and is now out for an unknown period of time. Hopefully, it was just a stinger and minor setback. The most dangerous bullpen options absolutely remain Miz and Yoho. Tho, for obvious reasons, we're not going to see them any time soon.
  6. Boy, I wish I could say I'm confident about the prospects of a DL Hall-to-Ross piggyback. This is simply not the case. Not one bit. I continue to have zero faith in Hall's 4-seamer. In all his Rehab work I am pretty sure we got one outing where the velo, shape, and movement were where we need that pitch to be. Every other outing, it was off-speed that led the way for me. The four-seamer was just too flat and hittable for MLB bats for my liking. I absolutely hope I am wrong.
  7. I mean with Clemmey I kind of get it with the elevated walk totals - I still don't think that should stop him from testing High-A waters. BUT, with Sykora I mean he is absolutely dominancing Low-A hitters. 96 K in 63 1/3 IP is silly. Give him older players to challenge those tools. Low-A isn't going to do much for his growth.
  8. I am just so tired of this version of the Down East Wood Ducks. Fast Forward them to their new stadium. I can not stand for another Playoff Black Out vs the Wood Ducks. Nope.
  9. Seriously, what are those two studs still doing in Low-A. That's just silly. Bump them to High-A for crying out loud.
  10. Oh we have absolutely struggled against those two. Clemmey was traded, however, at the deadline. LOL - right to the Nationals. Bahahahahahahah. That is an absurd embarrassment of Ace riches on a Low-A club. What are we doing here Nationals?!
  11. You have to love RHP Dikember Sanchez facing a bit of adversity giving up the 1-0 lead but buckling down and not surrendering the game. Buckles down some more in a huge spot with Manfred's Man on 2B and casually sends the first two batters down swinging. Then gets the easy ground out to 2B to end it. Never looked frazzled. Never left his form or fundamentals. Just dialed it back in and really stepped up. That was a really good showing. Really happy for Blayberg Diaz to experience that moment. It's been a rough go at the dish of late for him that was a big time professional poke up the middle.
  12. YES SIR! That's a 3-1 Dub in Xtras folks. Muddies have a chance to split the series tomorrow. Run differential in this series is now 30-29. AND, I think we all know if manager Nick Stanley had handled that Corniel start just a tad more aggressively before his fateful fifth inning the Muddies are actually leading this series 3-2. Is what it is at this point. Great Win tonight in Game 2.
  13. K's the next swinging as well on a gorgeous inside slider to a very dangerous power lefty bat. That was a fantastic pitch. Two down. Manfred's man is twiddling his thumbs at 2B.
  14. Sanchez leads off his 8th (Xtras here in a scheduled 7-inning affair) with a K swinging and missing on consecutive breaking pitches. Heck of a way to start it.
  15. Two down. Diaz to the dish. AND, he rips a 1-1 comebacker through the middle and into the OF grass and we are up 3-1. HUGE moment for Diaz there. Heck of a knock on an off-speed in the low part of the zone. Pro hit right there! Runners on 1st and 2nd. Two down. Mercado grounds into a force out at 2B. On to the bottom of the 8th.
  16. Oh man Briceno roped a first pitch liner right to the 2B who almost beats Guilarte to 2B. Man, that was just bad luck. He ripped that liner.
  17. He fouls back a nice change-up on the outer black. Lays off a high heater. He swings and misses on a belt high heater. Whewwwww. That was a hittable pitch. One down. Big K there.
  18. Full count. AND, he takes a heater just outside the upper corner. Bases juiced. Nobody out. Yoshwar Garcia to the dish and he takes a massive swing and miss hack on a first pitch heater up and in.
  19. Mudcats are responding with runners on the corner in the top of the 8th and nobody out. Walling will try to take advantage. Come on men let's pull this out!
  20. First series they split 3-3. Second series Nats took it 4-2. Coming into tonight's tilt, Nats were leading the series 3-1. It's really not as lopsided as you think: First series we outscored the Nats 21-18 Second series we were outscored 18-11 So far in this series we were only being outscored 29-26 and are currently tied 1-1. I'd casually offer: it would be a dynamic and competitive series but I do think we'd probably give them the slight edge.
  21. Yup. And he gave up a solo jack to the first batter he faced.
  22. Well that was a very enjoyable and mostly crisp first pre-season game. Extremely impressed with the O-Line performance as a whole. They just did not give up much of any pressures. That has certainly not been the case in quite some time.
  23. First pre-season game. Very few penalties. Other than a couple near 12-Men on penalties, I am pretty dang impressed with the fluidity and exchanges happening between all the variations of who is on the field. Clean kicking game. Big difference early in 2024.
  24. Really want a TD here for these end of roster guys. Let's put it in gentlemen!
  25. Good grief, if I had a nickel for every time I saw Lowry face down eating dirt I'd have a good crisp $5 bill. Unreal how little he showed after his contract year. Unbelievable staying power.
