  1. Middendorf is sitting at 97-98 mph right now. He has a 20 mph difference between the four-seamer and the curveball. He also has a cutter. He remains a very serious MLB relief corps candidate in seasons ahead. Still has some location fine-tuning to do for sure but the stuff has only gotten better over the past season plus in Triple-A. Miles to go. LOVE the foundation he's established in 2024.
  2. Ashby deserved better. He leaves with the bases juiced after walking the next batter. He had the inning over with a quick DP. Not to be. That was actually a better outing than we've seen of late. We'll take it.
  3. I continue to really love me some RHP Nick Merkel. Definitely in that RHP Sam Gardner level of unappreciated relievers in the system. With Merkel, however, he's even more undervalued. He isn't perfect by any measure but he just battles. Has fantastic off-speed stuff. Was touching 94 mph consistently through his first innings tonight. Also, that HBP on Adams was directly off his left knee. He went down in a heap at first. Yikes! You see the blur in this photo right next to his left knee. Caromed straight up in a hurry. OUCH!
  4. Oh man, Arroyo had a one out grounder dribbling up the middle. Over Ashby. And as Arroyo is charging for the possible corral and step on 2B for the inning-ending DP...the ball caroms directly off the bag and into shallow RF. Classic. AND, Dylan O'Rae was in fact tossed the last inning tho the ump never made the gesture. Casey Martin in as the replacement in CF.
  5. Two tough K's from Bitonti earlier. Now a fantastic walk taken from an 0-2 count. Laid off some tough pitches. Fouled several off. THAT is exactly what we're looking for given the uncanny power we are seeing on a regular basis early in his Low-A tenure.
  6. HUGE call regardless as a full count pitch in the dirt inside and to the backstop scored EBJ from 3rd base (he had advanced all the way to 3rd in the commotion at home plate - heads up running from Eric!). 3-3 game baby.
  7. Of course, with this angle, the ump is directly in front of the play and we can't see if his hand is touching home plate. But, that's as close as it gets.
  8. Darrien Miller with an unbelievable slide to score the Shuckers 2nd run here in the 6th with two down. The ball beat him but it was left of home plate. He somehow found a way to stay in the baseline and avoid the glove while getting the plate first in the umpire's eyes. Bang-bang play. Huge two out poke and RBI from EBJ an even better piece of base running for the young catcher. He had ripped a double deep to left CF the AB prior. Shuckers finally getting good lumber on in the 6th.
  9. The AB prior Boeve's dinger, O'Rae really had words for the home plate ump. I've never seen him lose his cool like that. Did not like the second punch out called on a slider (?) on the upper corner of the zone. Looked close 'enough' but also looked just outside. Pena came down from 3B to stick up for O'Rae. Ump gave them a lot of room to wiggle in that back-and-forth. I've definitely seen this same crew toss players and/or managers for less.
  10. Owen Miller has been unreal since being DFA'd back to Nashville. He has been on an absolute tear.
  11. (Also for those...like me...who already forgot the homer. #MiddleAgedOldFart)
  12. Reviews the call. Javik not in the 'mind meld'. He's in the booth so there some EMF's in the way. 'Hammered' and 'Demolished' were used. Also in the lexicon. Potato. Potata. The mind meld did happen with the Biscuits announcer, however who went from 'hammered' to 'scorched'. A worthwhile evolution!
  13. He then gets his first K on an absolutely gorgeous slider. Ok, Aaron. We love to see this!
  14. 97 mph sinker for Ashby here in the top of the 5th (I'm behind due to early evening farm chores).
  15. I swear the amount of group think you and I share and double post sentiments is uncanny! I have to keep you guessing with my inaccurate 'on the fly' details 😜
  16. The healthy Boeve return and sudden power surge is friggin' awesome. He scorched that sucker. Meanwhile, Wehrle really salvage Aquino's outing when he allowed runners on 2nd and 3rd in his final inning - Wehrle got the 3-2 K looking. Nice piece of work.
  17. Capra rips a two-run single to LF. Stretches it to a double on the throw up line as Collins beats the throw. It's a 5-1 Sounds lead! We are almost 'Ashby Safe'! 🫠
  18. Peterson followed the two down free pass with another hard hit double. He hangs another one in the upper part of the zone and it's a two-run line drive single to LF. He had the inning in his bag. BUT, this is what he's done throughout his season - lacks that final follow-through. He will be pulled. All started with a two out walk after being ahead 1-2. Merkel is coming aboard.
  19. I'll be pounding the table for this point til I die a Brewers fan: C Brian Navarreto gets zero recognition or kudos from the fanbase. All he does is hit clutch knocks. He is responsible for both Sounds runs. He just hit an oppo double to RF to send in the go-ahead run. Roller now just hit a go-ahead Sac Fly. It's 3-1. Nava on 2B. Two down. *Of course, this speaks to no aspect of his fantastic catching ability behind the plate. Just such an unsung fantastic player.
  20. After the double and oppo homer, Bitonti has now K'd looking (on a really tough inside pitch) and swinging on a center cut off-speed pitch he was very in front of. Baez still on 3rd. Two down. Meanwhile, Peterson just had two down but walked the next batter from a 1-2 count. Gotta put that guy away. It was a Lefty on Lefty.
  21. "Aaron Ashby is warming up for the Sounds..." (I quickly run and hide in the pantry.)
  22. Baez just ripped a triple to RF standing up. It's 11-0 Muddies in first place Fredericksburg. Yowza!
  23. Yoshwar Garcia just ripped a deep two-run double with the bases juiced in Fredericksburg. 9-0 Muddies. Nobody down. Meanwhile, the Shuckers just had multiple runners aboard for the first time in their game 1. Bases juiced. One down. EMJ just hit a DP ball right up the middle. 0-0 game continues. (Let me copy and past my now Hidden post in the Transaction thread. LOL)
  24. Sounds announcer Jeff Hem just shared: RHP Logan Henderson has been assigned to the Nashville Sounds from the Biloxi Shuckers. He will be the starting pitcher this Friday.
  25. WELL WAIT A MINUTE: Jeff Hem just announced RHP Logan Henderson is in the Nashville dugout and will be pitching for Nashville this series. OK then! Friday start for Logan. SO, another move will need to be made by the Sounds by Friday to open that roster spot. Meanwhile, RHP Patricio Aquino just gave up a two-run bomb with two down. 3-0 Quad Cities.
