  1. Dylan O'Rae came to the dish 0-for-3. His last AB a swinging K on a lefty-to-lefty slider outside the zone (tough pitch). He ropes an 0-1 liner into RF for an RBI single. Bang-bang play at home plate. Ball appeared to beat Campbell. Homeplate ump calls him safe. You be the judge. By my eyes, he was clearly out by a couple feet:We'll take it! There's no crying in baseball. 4-1 game.
  2. Campbell hits a deep chopper to 3B and Barry air-mailed it for his 13th error of his 2024 season. An important insurance run crosses. 3-1 Shuckers.
  3. That's now two generous outs on the base paths. Hall tried to extend his line drive into RF and was tagged out sliding to 2B - ball got there before he did tho the tag appeared to possibly miss him. Martinez on 3B with two down. As opposed to runners on the corner and a run across.
  4. And, it was an unfortunate pick-off. Ernesto ripped a 100 mph single up the middle in the next AB for a multi-hit performance.
  5. With EBJ leading off the bottom of the 7th with a line drive single into CF, he extends his hitting streak to 7 games. His On Base streak goes to 11. AND, he is then picked off 1B.
  6. Bennett just served up a two-run jack to deep left CF. Hung one dead center and Banfield did not miss. Blue Wahoos take the lead and score the game's first runs. 2-0.
  7. Wiems has a K flailing. And a 1-2 K looking on an inside heater. Continues to just absolutely struggle at the dish. AND, he has a challenge to offer there if he wanted to - it merited it given how close the call was. Instead? Amidst his ongoing struggles he continued barking from the dugout. AND, was tossed. Here's an idea, Joey: Challenge the call if you have a problem. My goodness. If there were ever a more indicative representation of where his game is at present that sequence of events was it. Meanwhile, Bowman just gave up an oppo two out deep fly off the RF wall. The base runner scores from 1B. Tying runner at 2B. Two down. He gets out of the jam with a groundout to Wilken at 3B. 2-1 game.
  8. Bottom of the 6th frame in Biloxi. Cargo walks on five pitches. Steals his 12th base of the season. And it's only the 2nd RISP of their night. Big steal as he swipes his 13th base with Wilken at the dish and the throw sails into LF. It's suddenly a 2-0 game. He scores on the Error. Wilken grounded out hard to 3B.
  9. Bowman leaves the runners stranded with an inside upper 70's slider. Fantastic work.
  10. Pensacola's third hit of the night was a liner to CF. Cargo clearly didn't read it well off the bat. He mis-stepped toward RF and the ball went left. He traps it on a dive forward. Makable play on a hard hit ball if he reads it accurately off the bat. That misplay ultimately led to Misiorowski's only 3-0 count of his night. it went 3-1. He walked his second batter and left the game after 5 2/3 IP and men on 1st and 2nd.
  11. 8th K. 98 mph inner black heater. Looking.
  12. His 7th K was another swing and a miss. A 97 mph heater to the top of the zone.
  13. Entering the 6th: 12 swings and whiffs. 6 K's. Scoreless for Miz. Gotta love it. 29 whiffs in his last 137 pitches. A 21 % clip. Sheeeeesh.
  14. AND, this outing is better than his last. Very very controlled. He has gone 82-101 on the variance. Just fantastic stuff.
  15. An 82 mph inside curve (quite a bit of vertical break) followed up with a 97 mph heater up and in for his 6th K in 5 IP. Just a fantastic start from 'The Miz'. Five complete so far. Got a DP in that inning too after a lead-off oppo single to RF.
  16. Much better Wilken AB after his first AB K looking. 106 mph line out to deep CF. We live with those results every AB. Trust the process.
  17. 5th K here in the 4th on a high outer slider. K looking. After just missing a call on a 98 mph heater off the outer stripe. Meanwhile, on screen two I see a Joey Wiemer flailing K on an off-speed pitch that dipped low and just outside. The bat ended up in one hand. That was a really poor swing by Wiems. Yikes.
  18. You have to love 'The Miz's First pitch strike % tonight. He just touched 100 mph here in the 4th frame again.
  19. LHP Nick Bennett will spell LHP DL Hall who pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He worked around the bases loaded jam in the 2nd frame. As I opined early, I wasn't particularly impressed with the action of his heater - flat and level plane appeared very hittable at the MLB level. The change-up and breakers were quite nice and seemed impactful. Tunes into the T-Rats. I see Manfredi had some trouble. They trail 6-0 in the bottom of the third. Zero outs for the Rattlers. Man on 2nd with Rodriguez at the dish.
  20. Misses with another curve - high and outside. By my count: that's 3 balls on that pitch. One strike. He then gets an infield bunt against the 'shift'. No chance for Wilken. First Blue Wahoos hit.
  21. Just touched 98 mph for strike 1 and strike 2 both on the black. 0-2 to his second batter. 4th K on a 91 mph outer stripe slider. Just dealing now.
  22. Miz threw a curve for a high inside strike! There we go. Let's go baby. Let's get all those pitches working. He gets a weak dribbler to C Darrien Miller to get the first out of his 3rd. Heater seems to be sitting 97 mph here in the third.
  23. Trying to add an insurance run (after his lead-off double) in the 7th after a David Garcia oppo two out single to left CF, Miguel Briceno was thrown out at home plate on a one hope dart. They had him by a good 3 feet on the throw. 5-3 Mudcats. On to the top of the 8th.
  24. 3-2 count for Hall. Bases juiced. Two down. THe pay off pitch...he gets the fly out to Wiemer in RF. I personally still don't like the action on Hall's heater. It appears to my eyes it is coming in flat. There just isn't all that much movement. And the velo isn't high enough to come in in that fashion. Just my current observation and opinion.
  25. DL Hall just took a comebacker right off his right foot. He's working around a hard hit single to RF. The comebacker single off his foot. And a weak dribbler infield hit to 3B by ol' Sound Jonathan Davis. Bases juiced. Two down.
